Burial will be in Memory Gardens in Pampa. Mr. Murphy was a roustabout for Bobby Hudson. He was also an avid guitar player. Survivors include a son, Michael Wayne Armstrong of Amarillo; two daughters, Angela Christina Ryan of Dallas and Laura Gale Murphy of Borger; his parents, M.G. and Waunell Murphy of Borger; his grandmother, Marjorie Shelton of Borger; a brother, Kevin Murphy of Borger; two sisters, Lanesa Washburn of Gruver and Cheryl Vaughn of Canton; and two grandchildren. Mr. Randall was born Aug. 15, 1920, in Callao, Mo. He married Ellen "Penny" Pence on Dec. 7, 1945, in Fort Wayne, Ind. He grew up in Callao and graduated high school there. They lived in Tucson, Ariz., from 1970 to 1974. He graduated from the University of Arizona with a bachelor of science degree in agronomy in 1974. He served in the Air Force from 1943 to 1970. He also served in Korea and Vietnam during World War II. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. He moved to Tulia in 1974 and was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Tulia. He was preceded in death by his parents, John A. and Beatrice Randall; and two sisters, Jane Bootman and JoAnn Mason. Survivors include his wife, Ellen; a son, Geoffrey J. "Lawrence" Quisenberry, 77, died Friday, July 26, 2002. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Clinton Young officiating. Burial will be in Quanah Memorial Park by Smith Funeral Home. Mr. Quisenberry was born Dec. 1, 1924, in Goodlett, the son of the late W.R. "Jack" and Ollie (King) Quisenberry. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Prayer vigil will be at 6 p.m. today in Foskey-Lilley-McGill Funeral Home. Military graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Westlawn Memorial Park with John Nino, Deacon of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Memphis, officiating. Sgt. Murillo was born July 8, 1978, in Hereford. He grew up in Dimmitt and attended Dimmitt High School. He joined the Army in 1997 and went through basic training in Fort Benning, Ga. He was stationed in Fort Drum, N.Y. He served a tour in Korea for a year. He was a Catholic. Awards he had received are air assault, Army achievement medal, Army service ribbon, basic rifle marksmanship, expert infantry badge, overseas ribbon, national defense ribbon, united nation medal and Army good conduct medal. Amarillo Globe-News, July 28, 2002 Wren Loftin Holt SPEARMAN - Wren Loftin Holt, 84, died Friday, July 26, 2002. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Russell Pogue officiating. Burial will be in Holt Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. Mrs. Holt was born in Iola in 1917. She lived in Spearman for 69 years, moving from Shawnee, Okla. She married Fred Holt in 1939 in Spearman. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for 40 years and was a member of Women's Missionary Union. She was the Hutchinson County Extension Clubs Woman of the Year for 2002. She had been a member of the Home Demonstration Club for 53 years and a homemaker for 62 years. She attended Tarleton State College and graduated from West Texas State Teacher's College in 1938. She taught school in Spearman for one year. She was a member of the 20th Century Club. She was preceded in death by her parents, Adolphus and Hazel Loftin; a brother, Paul Loftin; and a sister, Oscilee Loftin. Survivors include two daughters, Susan Kidder of Spearman and Hazel Slyter of Augusta, Kan.; a son, Mike Holt of Pilot Point; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, July 28, 2002 Marion Tidwell DIMMITT - Marion "Buster" Tidwell, 79, died Friday, July 26, 2002. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Howard Rhodes officiating. Burial will be at 1:15 p.m. in Castro Memorial Gardens by Foskey-Lilley-McGill Funeral Home. Mr. Tidwell was born Dec. 28, 1922, in Haskell. He married Maxine Winters on Oct. 5, 1946, in Littlefield. He grew up in Beula and graduated from Beula High School in 1941. He joined the Army Air Corps and served in the South Pacific. He was part of the first wave that went in to occupy Japan. After serving his country, he returned and farmed for 12 years. He then began to work in agriculture aviation. He retired in 1994. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and was a lifetime member of the VFW. He served on the Dimmitt Chamber of Commerce and many other civic boards. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Rhoda Wise and husband, Gary, of Frisco; two brothers, G.W. Tidwell of Ureka, Calif., and Carl Tidwell of Loop; four sisters, Mary Harmon of Rocklin, Calif., Betty Sanders of Hart, June Elliot of Rosenberg and Glenda Miller of Lubbock; and four granddaughters, Holly Davis and husband, Chad, of Dimmitt, Heather Wise of Lubbock and Hayli Wise and Hanna Wise, both of Frisco. Amarillo Globe-News, July 28, 2002 Robert Thompson HARTLEY - Robert Thompson, 85, died Saturday, July 27, 2002. Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday in Hartley Christian Fellowship with Ty Jones, pastor of Cowboy Church in Amarillo, and John Will Bookout, of the church, officiating. Burial will be in Hartley Cemetery by Horizon Funeral Home in Dalhart. Mr. Thompson was born eight miles east of Hartley on May 4, 1917, to Hayden and Maggie (Morgan) Thompson. He attended school in Hartley and graduated from Hartley High School. He then attended West Texas State University. On May 10, 1936, he married Clara Wiseman in Clayton, N.M., and they moved from Hartley to Rosebud, N.M., and ranched for three years before returning to Hartley. He had only missed three National Finals rodeos since 1959 and enjoyed loading all of his grandkids in his car and taking them to the XIT Rodeo and Reunion and Bar-B-Q each year. On Nov. 22, 1999, he lost the love of his life, his wife, Clara. He was an active member of the Hartley Community. He had served for more than 20 years as a director of the Hartley County Soil and Water Conservation District, Hartley County Commissioner, Farmers Supply Company board of directors, organizing director of the North Plains Water Conservation District and was made a lifetime director in 2002. He had served for many years on the Hartley Independent School Board, was co-founder of Hartley Feeders and a member of the Hartley Christian Fellowship. Survivors include four sons, Bob Thompson and wife, Barbara, of Hartley, Bruce Thompson and wife, Verena, of Dalhart, Allen Thompson and wife, Diane, of Channing, and Sam Thompson and wife, Jeanne, of Amarillo; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Mr. Moore moved to Amarillo 60 years ago from Childress. He married Evelyn White on Dec. 16, 1939. He worked for the railroad for years then began building homes. He was also a maintenance engineer for the old Osteopathic Hospital. He was preceded in death by his mother; and a daughter. Mr. Gleason was born in Bellflower, Mo. After being raised in Montgomery County, Mo., he moved to Amarillo in 1958 where he served as president of Public Steel until his death. He married Mary Lou Wheat in May 1934. He later married Adele Norman in 1986. He was a member and deacon at Trinity Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife in 1985; and his second wife in 2001. Survivors include two sons, James N. Gleason and wife, Eva, and David L. Gleason and wife, Rudy Kaye, all of Amarillo; a stepdaughter, Sammye Mantooth and husband, Ric, of Lubbock; a brother, Earnest Gleason of Fort Smith, Ark.; four grandchildren, Chris Gleason, Jenni Henderson, Katie Lewis and Sarah Gleason; three stepgrandchildren; and several step great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. (MDT) Friday in Restlawn Cemetery in El Paso with the Rev. Ron Fox, pastor of Valleyview Baptist Church in El Paso, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mrs. Scarbrough was born in Westbrook. She had lived in El Paso for 45 years and had also resided in southeastern New Mexico and southwest Texas before moving to Amarillo four years ago. She was a homemaker but had assisted her husband in his self-employment. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Amarillo and was formerly a 28-year member of Valleyview Baptist Church in El Paso where she was very active. She married Eddie Earl Scarbrough in 1927 in Merkel. She was preceded in death by her husband on March 9, 1970; three brothers; a sister; and a great-great-grandchild. Survivors include two sons, Harold D. Scarbrough of Amarillo and Wesley E. Scarbrough of Ruidoso, N.M., seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St. Mrs. Davis was born Feb. 8, 1949, in Allende Coahuila, Mexico, to David and Margarita Elizalde Garcia. She moved to Amarillo in the early 1970s. She married William R. "Bill" Davis on July 16, 1978, in Amarillo. She graduated from Bible College in Eagle Pass and also attended Amarillo College. She was a homemaker and a former child care teacher at Amarillo College. She was a member of Central Church of Christ. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Brewster was born on the edge of the Matador Ranch in Paducah, Cottle County. He lived in and around Mangum, Okla., before coming to Amarillo in 1948. He retired from the Texas Highway Department after 23 years of service. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Margie, in 1984. Survivors include his wife, Hazel; a daughter, Lameda Robbins of Amarillo; two sons, Bobby Brewster and Jerry Brewster, both of Hughes Springs; a stepson, Jon Voight of Amarillo; two brothers, J.A. Brewster of Mangum, Okla., and Bill Brewster of Wichita Falls; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He loved being with his family and will be greatly missed by all that he touched during his life. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Sweet Home Methodist Church with Al Terrel, pastor, officiating. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Latimer Funeral Home. Mr. Ford was born Sept. 22, 1920, near Wellington, the second of seven children to Henry Baxter and Myrtle Mae Wagnon Ford. He graduated from Hereford High School and attended West Texas State University in Canyon, Texas. During World War II, he served in the Army Air Corps in Europe and was awarded the Purple Heart and Silver Star. He retired from both Civil Service and Bell Helicopter in Amarillo. He loved to fish and camp, primarily at Lake Greeson and Lake Millwood in Arkansas and Lake Meredith in Texas. He enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father and brother. He was a master fix-it man and craftsman. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister; and a brother. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Evelyn; a son, John Ford and wife, Kara Lee, of Roland; two stepsons, Wayne Cox of Chandler and Michael Cox and wife, Carol, of Tryon, N.C.; three sisters, Opal Robertson of Lubbock, Texas, Lexie Ford of Amarillo and Evelyn Bookout of Bradenton, Fla.; a brother, Calvin Ford and wife, Mary, of Amarillo; five grandchildren, Stephanie Cox and husband, Rip Engler, of Asheville, N.C., Jennifer Duck and husband, Brian, of Whitehouse, Texas, Jeff Cox and wife, Candace, of Tyler, Texas, and Emily Ford and Clayton Ford, both of Roland; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
