Services will be at 11 a.m. today in First Baptist Churchwith the Rev. Terry Cosby officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery in Canyon by Parkside Chapel Funeral Home. Mrs. Nunley was born June 11, 1929, in Panhandle, the daughter of James and Annie Spencer. She married Jack Nunley on May 8, 1949, in Clovis, N.M. She retired as deputy tax clerk from the Deaf Smith County tax office. She was a 50-year member of Eastern Star, mother adviser for Rainbow Girls, and was a member and taught kindergarten for many years at First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her brother, J.W. Spencer Jr. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Gerald Nunley of Dallas and Dennis Nunley of Denver; two daughters, Annie Ruland of Lubbock and Leta Knapp of Abilene; two sisters, Annie Mae Meyer of Fritch and Pauline Cummins of Canyon; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, July 31, 2002 Johnny Alton Wariner LEFORS - Johnny Alton Wariner, 58, died Monday, July 29, 2002. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors Colonial Chapel in Pampa with Paul Nachtigall of Highland Baptist Church of Pampa and the Rev. Lewis Ellis, pastor of First Baptist Church of Lefors officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Heights Cemetery in Lefors. Mr. Wariner graduated from radiology school at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas in 1965. He was a radiologist for Family Medical Center for the past five years. Survivors include his wife, Mary; a son, Jamie Wariner of Pampa; two daughters, Lisa Heider of Lefors and Melissa "Missy" Snapp of Pampa; a sister, Bobbye Combs of Pampa; two brothers, James Wariner and Jerry Wariner, both of Liberal, Kan.; and eight grandchildren. He was a former, longtime resident of Beaumont before moving to Borger 12 years ago. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. in Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery in Canadian, Texas. Mrs. Long was born March 21, 1925, in Framington, Mass. She was a member of Raton Church of Christ. Amarillo Globe-News, July 31, 2002 Amarillo Jan Sellers Jan Sellers, 50, of Amarillo died Sunday, July, 28, 2002, in Las Vegas. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church with Monsignor Joseph Tash officiating. Burial will be at 5 p.m. Thursday in Hamlin Memorial Cemetery in Hamlin. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Sellers graduated from Hamlin High School in 1970. She attended McMurry University in Abilene and West Texas State University. She married Charlie Sellers on Sept. 20, 1975. She was very active and supportive of the Canyon High School Football Team and was awarded "Team Mom" in 1999 by the team. She served on High Plains Epilepsy Board and on the American Heart Association as an executive on the Heart Ball board. She was a charter member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and St. Thomas Altar Guild. She was a big fan of Texas Tech football. She was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Cecil Sellers. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Charles "Chas" Thomas Sellers Jr. of Amarillo and John August Sellers of Canyon; a sister, DeDe Hohenberger of Hamlin; two brothers, Gerry Young of Conroe and Michael Young of Dallas; her parents, Gerald and Rita Young of Hamlin; her grandmother, May Young of Hamlin; and her mother-in-law, Clara Sellers of Hamlin. Amarillo Globe-News, July 31, 2002 Joseph E. Clements Jr. Joseph E. Clements Jr., 87, of Amarillo died Tuesday, July 23, 2002. Private family graveside services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Memorial Park Cemetery with Monsignor Francis Smyer of St. Mary's Catholic Church officiating. Arrangements were by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mr. Clements was born in Amarillo. He married Inge Ard in 1973 at Claude. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He was a pioneer in the contact lens field and in the making of ocular prosthesis. He attended Obrig School for Contact Lens Technicians in New York City, where he was certified in the molding of artificial eyes and the fitting of contact lenses. He was certified by Baylor University College of Medicine division of opthalmology in contact lens technology. He was certified by the Contact Lens Society of America. He organized the Optix Co., a wholesale company, and the Opti Lens Co. and manufacturers and fitters of contact lenses. He and his wife owned Opti Lens Eyes. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Kent Clements and Joe Ed Clements, both of Amarillo; two daughters, Suzanne Walker of Palestine and Annette Clements of Las Vegas, Nev.; a sister, Gloria Baker of Seattle, Wa.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Callas Rosary was said at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors Bell Avenue Chapel, 5400 S. Bell St. Mass will be at 11 a.m. today in St. Mary's Catholic Church with Monsignor Joe Bixenman officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Callas was born in Detroit on Feb. 9, 1932. He was a graduate of Almont High School in Almont, Mich., and went to trade school to continue his education. He joined the Air Force in 1952 and was stationed in Amarillo. He served as an instructor of the 15th stage of jet engine and final inspection during the Korean War, where he received a National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He worked as a printer for 17 years. He started Whiz Graphic Equipment and Supply. He got a U.S. patent and started manufacturing and marketing the "Bead Bomber." He enjoyed building racing motorcycles, go-karts and odysseys for family and friends to race. He was known by his friends as the "Bultaco Man" and "Mad Jetter." He was a member of Tri-State Go Karting Club. He married Mildred Schulte on Nov. 11, 1967, in Tulia. He lived in Amarillo for the past 35 years. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents, John and Anna Callas; two foster fathers, Red Brooks and Howard Stern of Michigan; and two brothers, George Callas of Michigan and Andy Callas of Ohio. Survivors include two daughters, Janet Callas and Karen Callas, both of Amarillo; a son, John Callas of Amarillo; a sister, Shirley Cissna of Sacramento, Ky.; a brother, John Paul Callas of Caldwell; two foster mothers, Gertie Brooks and Helen Stern of Almont; special family members including, Lacy Hart, Rosella Curry, Shawn Curry, Dana and Jeff Arnold and James Castro; two nephews; a niece; and all the Gerber family. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Russell was born in Numa, Iowa, on Sept. 23, 1930, to William B. and Mammie Okal Russell. He married Margaret Ellyson in 1952 at Amarillo. He retired from Pantex after more than 25 years of service. He was a member of VFW and was a Methodist. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Christopher Michael Russell in 1989. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Debbie Hall of Grapevine; two sons, Ronald Russell of Wylie and Roger Russell of Amarillo; a sister, Louise Beer of Seymour, Iowa; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
