Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Ridge worked as an operator for AT&T and the Amarillo Globe-News, retiring from both. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and best friend and will be missed. Mrs. Barnett was born Nov. 5, 1912, to John McCracken and Minnie McElroy McCracken in the Lone Mound Community of Collingsworth County. She married Cortez Barnett on Dec. 31, 1930, in Sayre, Okla. She was a bookkeeper for Chickasha Cotton Oil Co. for 20 years and was a sales clerk for Hatch's Dry Goods for 12 years. She was a member of Wellington Business and Professional Women's Club and was a member of First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1969; a grandson, Larry Wright in 1973; and a brother, Alfred McCracken. Amarillo Globe-News, Aug. 1, 2002 Elsewhere Gladys Bell TUCSON, Ariz. - Gladys Bell, 91, died Monday, July 29, 2002, in Amarillo, Texas. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in East Lawn Palms Mortuary Chapel. Entombment will be in East Lawn Palms Mausoleum. Mrs. Bell was born Sept. 10, 1910, in Quinton, Okla., to Henry Clay Jones and Ethel Smalley Jones, the third of nine children. She moved to Memphis, Texas, with her family as a young girl. There she met her future husband Everett Bell and at his death in 1995, they had been married for 68 years. She was baptized in 1933. Their three children were born in Memphis. They later moved to Pampa, Texas, for three years, then to Wellington, Texas, for 42 years until they moved to Tucson to live with their daughter and son-in-law in 1990. She was a member of Ina Road Church of Christ in Tucson and the Comanche Trails Church of Christ in Amarillo. She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Ronald Bell; a sister, Pernecy Bell; two brothers, Arthur Jones and Donnie Jones; and a granddaughter, Debbie. Survivors include a daughter, Frances Terry and husband, Gene, of Tucson; a son, J.E. Bell and wife, LeDon, of Amarillo; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; three sisters, Soleta Ramsey of Escondido, Calif., Neta Underwood of Santa Clara, Calif., and Lois Jones of San Jose, Calif.; and two brothers, Leonard Jones of San Mateo, Calif., and Coy Jones of Escondido.
