"Jim" Majors Jr., 82, died Monday, Aug. 19, 2002. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Turkey Church of Christ with Stuart Smith and the Rev. Don McMahan officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery with Masonic rites by Quitaque Masonic Lodge. Arrangements are by Myers-Long Funeral Directors. Mr. Majors was born Sept. 11, 1919, in Dunlap. He joined the Army Air Corps in 1941 and served during World War II. He married Willie Grace Mullin on March 29, 1943, in Turkey. He was a retired postmaster and farmer and rancher. He was the oldest living member on the Bob Wills Foundation Board. He was a member of Turkey Church of Christ and had been a Mason for 55 years. Survivors include his wife; a son, David Paul Majors of Idalou; a daughter, Belinda Gearn of Amarillo; two brothers, N.H. Majors of Lorenzo and O.H. Majors of Lubbock; three sisters, Arlie Williams of Turkey, Betty Buckingham of Pampa and Shirley Townsend of Grapevine; and six grandchildren, Brandon Boyles, Courtney Boyles Gearn, Trey Gearn, Tanner Gearn, Zane Majors and Maril Majors. Baker, 94, died Sunday, Aug. 18, 2002. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Sixth and Meredith Church of Christ with Mike Smith, minister, officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Henderson with Jerry Yarbrough, son-in-law, officiating. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mrs. Baker was born April 3, 1908, in Panola County. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Sixth and Meredith Church of Christ in Dumas. She had been a Dumas resident since November 1980. She was a former longtime resident of Crockett. She was preceded in death by infant twins; a son, Jean Woolley; and five brothers and sisters. Survivors include a daughter, Nell Yarbrough and husband, Jerry, of Las Cruces, N.M.; a sister, Winnie Bob Faught of the Houston area; a brother, S.A. Johnson and wife, Faye, of New Boston; seven grandchildren, John Woolley, Lynda Fisk, Penny Poston, Becky Mitchell, Jeff Yarbrough, Beth Roth and Cara Yarbrough; and nine great-grandchildren. Gary Gumfory officiating. Burial will be in Gruver Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman. Mr. Ralston was a farmer and rancher. He was a member of First Assembly of God Church of Spearman. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Diana Lynn Ralston in 1973; four brothers, Robert Henry Ralston Jr., Jesse Frederick Ralston, Orie Albert Ralston and Cecil Earl Ralston; and his parents, Robert Henry Ralston and Lillian Holleman Ralston. Mr. James had lived all of his life in the Shamrock area. He had worked as a clerk for Cantrell Corporation in Shamrock. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Dalhart Church of Christ with Dean Whaley, minister, and Gaylord Cook, minister of Gruver Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Horizon Funeral Home. Mrs. Wood was born Aug. 22, 1915, to William S. and Mary E. Hutton Adams in Indianola, Okla. She attended schools in Indianola and graduated from Indianola High School. She graduated from East Central State University in Ada, Okla. On July 16, 1938, she married J.W. Wood Jr. in McAlester, Okla. She taught school in Oklahoma for 14 years before moving to Visalia, Calif., where she taught for 21 years. They moved to Dalhart in 1981. She was a member of Dalhart Church of Christ, Dalhart Senior Citizens Center and did volunteer work for Dalhart Area Chamber of Commerce as well as the Behavior Life Prison Ministries. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1985; her parents; and three sisters. Survivors include a son, John Wood of Dalhart; two daughters, Nancy Battaglini of Antioch, Calif., and Cheryl Whipkey of McKinney; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He attended Caprock High School and served in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War with force recon special forces. He was a loving son and father to his children.
