Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Memorial Park Cemetery with Lynn Garrett, of First Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. Rogers was born in Gridley, Kan. She spent many years in Amarillo and also lived in Denver. She was a member of First Baptist Church and was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husbands, T.P. Bailey and Roy Rogers; a son, Paul Eugene Bush; and three grandsons, Paul, Renn and Dane Bush. Survivors include several nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials be to Baptist St. Anthony's Hospice, 600 N. Tyler, Amarillo, TX 79107. Amarillo Globe-News, Sept. 1, 2002 Jerall Dee Branson Jerall Dee Branson, 84, of Amarillo, died Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, Ivy Chapel, 2820 Virginia Circle, with Bob Thomas, chaplain with Crown of Texas Hospice, officiating. Burial will be at Llano Cemetery. Mr. Branson was born Sept. 3, 1917, in Hydro, Okla. He attended school in Hydro and Panhandle. He also attended West Texas State University. He married Willie Mae Kemp on March 25, 1939, in Clarendon. He worked for the Texas State Highway Department, the Amarillo Helium Plant and Pantex. In World War II, he served with the 90th Infantry Division under General George Patton. He earned nine medals and commendations for heroism in service, including two purple hearts, distinguished service cross and bronze star. He had also been a Master Mason for more than 60 years, San Jacinto Lodge No. 1330. He accepted the Lord at an early age, and his life was one of service to Him as well as to family and country. His loving, caring and giving spirit will be remembered by family and friends alike. He was preceded in death by his wife on Sept. 29, 2001; his parents, Marguerite and Frank Branson; and a brother, Eldon. Survivors include numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and loving friends. Family and friends will gather an hour before the service at the funeral home for a time of fellowship. The family suggests memorials be to San Jacinto Lodge No. 1330, 3015 W. Craig WEATHERFORD - Joyce S. Craig, 71, died Friday, Aug. 30, 2002. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Oak Grove Cemetery of Graham. Arrangements are by White's Funeral Home. Mrs. Craig was born in Parker County on Aug. 9, 1931, to Thomas E. Stratton and Nora Nelson Stratton. She was a 1948 graduate of Weatherford High School and attended Odessa Junior College. She began her career with Southwestern Bell Telephone in Midland in 1950 as a telephone operator. She worked for Southwestern Bell in Odessa for 20 years before her retirement in 1989 in Amarillo where she was in management. Survivors include her husband, James; a sister, Beulah S.D. Gray of Amarillo; six nieces, Rita G. Harrison of Texas City, Karen G. Ormsby and husband, R.T., of Beaumont, Jan Johnson of Los Cruces, N.M., Julie Carmichael of Edinburg, Joetta Buels of El Paso and Judy Doane of Alvin; and numerous great-nieces and nephews. He was the National Credit Manager for North America Packaging Corp. in Raleigh, N.C. Survivors include his parents, Dysart E. Sr. and Margaret Holcomb of Amarillo; two sisters, Ann Todd of Amarillo and Carolyn Bjorkback of Springfield; and a brother, John Holcomb of Monterey, Calif. Amarillo Globe-News, Sept. 1, 2002 Dean Scott WINDSOR, N.J. - Dean (Dino) Scott died Friday, Aug. 2, 2002 in East Orange, N.J. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements are by Minchin Funeral Home of Paterson. Mr. Scott was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a longtime member of the Hightstown Elks BPOE No. 1955, the Amarillo Elks and the American Legion Post No. 148 in Hightstown. Survivors include his mother, Ruth Flagiello of Jacksonville; a sister, Joan Smith of Jacksonville; and a brother, Bob Hodgson of Bushkill, Pa. Amarillo Globe-News, Sept. 1, 2002 Canyon Evelyn Winget Meyer Evelyn Winget Meyer, 93, of Canyon died Friday, Aug. 30, 2002 in Amarillo. Services were at 4 p.m. Saturday in Brooks Funeral Directors Chapel with Dr. Roger A. Hubbard, pastor of Lake Tanglewood Community Church, and Dale Winget, son, officiating. Burial was in West Park Cemetery of Hereford. Mrs. Meyer was born May 17, 1909, near Arnett, Okla. She was the daughter of Edgar Deloss Zimmerman and Edith Mae Eldredge Zimmerman. She was married to Weldon Lyle Winget on April 7, 1934, at McLean. He preceded her in death on Nov. 23, 1953. Of that marriage there were four children born, all of whom survive her. She moved to Canyon from Hereford in 1961 and was married to John Albert Meyer in December of 1964. He was a farmer near Canyon and preceded her in death in 1974. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Canyon and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels for 25 years. Survivors include three sons, R. Dale Winget of Flemington, N.J., Don B. Winget of Cedar Park and John D. Winget of Amarillo; a daughter, Barbara Arwine Morrow of Amarillo; two stepdaughters, Helen Wagstaff and Annette Snapp; 13 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Olton Cemetery by Foskey-Lilley-McGill Funeral Home. Mr. Moore was born in Oklahoma Territory. He married Pearl Brigance on June 6, 1937. Survivors include his wife; a son, Jerry Moore of Los Angeles; a daughter, Judy Moore of Sacramento, Calif.; a brother, G.W. Moore of Albuquerque, N.M.; a sister, Beuleh McCracken of Albuquerque; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Scotty Mason of Groom, Tony Mason and Russel Mason, both of Childress; his father, Robert Lawson Mason of Eufaula, Okla.; a sister, Susan Mason of Oroville, Wash.; a brother, Pete Mason of Eufaula; and eight grandchildren. Mrs. Antuna was born July 19, 1931, to Santos and Victoria Garza in Edinburg. Survivors include a brother, Armando Garza of Washington. Amarillo Globe-News, Sept. 1, 2002 Virgil Kelley HEREFORD - Virgil Kelley, 68, died Friday, Aug. 30, 2002. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Ted Taylor and the Rev. Randy Bird officiating. Burial will be at West Park Cemetery by Parkside Chapel Funeral Home. Mr. Kelley was born Jan. 26, 1934, in Hereford, the son of Alonzo and Velera Kelley. He was a veteran, having served in the Army as a paratrooper during the Korean conflict. He married Billie Gonzales on July 4, 1985, in Hereford. He was a master electrician and owned and operated Kelley Electric in Hereford since 1963. He loved to collect guns and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hereford. He was preceded in death by a brother; and three sisters. Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Juanita Burleson of Anson, Cindy Trussell of Abilene, Sherry Robertson of Hawley and Rebecca Laymon of Kansas City, Mo.; a brother, Doug Kelley of Hereford; two sisters, Margarette Daniels of Hereford and Mildred Reece of Virginia; and seven grandchildren.
