Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in First Christian Church with the Rev. Bob Sweeten, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Stratford Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mr. Judd was born Oct. 30, 1916, in Texhoma, Okla. He married Helen French in 1989. He was engaged in farming and ranching. He attended school in Stratford. He was a member of First Christian Church, serving as an elder and as a Sunday School superintendent for years. He was also on the Ceta Canyon Youth Board. He was recognized statewide for his work with 4-H Youth. He served as superintendent of the County Junior Livestock Show for 35 years. He has served on the school board, on the Depot Museum board, and on the board of directors of SCOT. He was a past master and past patron of Eastern Star. He was a Boy Scout leader for 10 years. He was on the board of High Plains Eye Bank and received his 50-year Masonic pin several years ago. He married Nina Lou Gay in 1936. He was preceded in death by his first wife in 1978; and a son, Clarence Franklin "Sonny" Judd in 1991. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mary Gay Billingsley and husband, Phillip, of Las Cruces; four stepgrandchildren; 10 step great-grandchildren; a special niece, Nina Lavake and husband, John, and their children, Brandie, MacKenzie and husband, Carter, Marcus Lavake and wife, Ashley, and Cara James and husband, Trew; a number of nieces and nephews; a grandson, Michael Billingsley and wife, Stephanie, of Edwards, Colo.; a granddaughter, Tonya L. Billingsley of San Diego; a stepson, Hugh French and wife, Stella, of Walsenburg, Colo.; a stepdaughter, Michele James of Boise City, Okla.; a brother, Leroy Judd; a brother-in-law, Paul Aduddell; a sister-in-law, Mae Borth; and a great-grandson, Tanner of Edwards. Amarillo Globe-News, Sept. 6, 2002 Ann Hamilton EARTH - Ann Hamilton, 89, died Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2002, in Lubbock. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Earth United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Nunn of Lubbock, and Gary Hubbard, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Earth Memorial Cemetery by Parsons-Ellis Funeral Home. Mrs. Hamilton was born Aug. 23, 1913, in Freeport, Ill. She married Buryl Hamilton in Freeport on Oct. 7, 1945. She was a resident of the Earth Community and a member of Earth United Methodist Church for 54 years, moving from Pampa. At Earth United Methodist Church she was a member of WSCS and Wesleyan Guild. She was a member of Hi-Plains Gem and Mineral Society. She retired as an office manager of Southwestern Public Service in 1978. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband on Nov. 24, 1995. He was an independent owner/operator of Mizar's Garage for 30 years. Mrs. Adams was born April 9, 1944, in Marysville, Kan. She married Jack Adams in 1962 at Fort Collins, Colo. She had been a resident of Hartley for 17 years, owning and operating Hartley Stop and Shop. She was a member of Hartley Community Club and attended First Baptist Church of Hartley. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Monte Vista, Colo. She was preceded in death by a son, Calvin Adams in 1969. Amarillo Globe-News, Sept. 6, 2002 Alfred Johnson DALHART - Alfred Johnson, 77, died Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2002. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Memorial Park Cemetery with Rusty Hancock, pastor of Lincoln Street Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Horizon Funeral Home. Mr. Johnson was born April 2, 1925, in Rocky Ford, Colo., to Sankey W. and Marguerite Cook Johnson. He was raised in Rocky Ford and Dalhart and attended Texas School for the Blind. He was a 1947 graduate of Dalhart High School and a 1951 graduate of Hardin Simmons University. He married Patsy Prince on Aug. 15, 1959. He opened a coffee shop in the Monarch Tile Building in San Angelo. He later became a counselor for Texas Commission for the Blind, retiring in 1984. They moved to Dalhart in 1984 and he was a member of Lincoln Street Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife; and numerous cousins including Bill and Vinita Bevans, David and Zola Faye Johnson, Maxine Longpre and Bobbie Johnson, all of Dalhart. Mrs. Wilkinson was born in Boyd, Texas, on May 23, 1911. She lived most of her life southeast of Gladstone. Survivors include three sons, Norwin "Wilk" Wilkinson and Val Wilkinson, both of Clayton, and Eldean Wilkinson of Springer; two daughters, LaDonna Woolley of Springer, and Deloris Paris of Sublette, Kan.; two sisters, Mamie Ruth Dellinger and Colene Dellinger, both of Mount Vernon, Wash.; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, Sept. 6, 2002 Amarillo Sarah "MommaDean" Doris Dean Sarah "MommaDean" Doris Dean, 94, of Amarillo died Thursday, Sept. 5, 2002. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street, with the Rev. Lynn Garrett of First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mrs. Dean wrote: I was born Dec. 19, 1907, in Franklin County, Ark. I was one of seven children born to James and Georgia Ann Kizziar. After receiving my high school diploma, I met and married Russell Dean, later known by many as "PapaDean." We had two children together, Ouida Marie and Betty Ann. My husband and I moved to Shamrock where we lived for seven years. We also lived in Pampa for a few months before establishing permanent residency in Amarillo. Then Pantex opened and my husband and I began our careers there. I worked as a cashier for the cafeteria. We worked nearly 30 years before we retired at the same time. Upon retirement, Pantex staff gave us an enormous reception with awards and honors for our service. After PapaDean's death, I worked in food service at Amarillo College for a period of time. PapaDean and I spent many years serving God through our gift of music. He directing choirs and evangelized meetings and me playing the piano. I enjoyed playing the piano and played for Sunday School. We were members of First Baptist Church for more than 50 years. My other talents were crocheting and sewing. Survivors include a daughter, Ouida Marie Tillery and husband, Paul, and their children, Thomas Dean Tillery of Aurora, Colo., Lezah Carol Meacham and husband, Alan, of Southlake and James David Tillery of Richland Hills; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jimmie Ann Melhorn of Arkansas. Amarillo Globe-News, Sept. 6, 2002 Billye Voorhies Hix Billye Voorhies Hix, 82, of Amarillo died Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2002. Georgia St. Mrs. Hix was born in Sweetwater and moved to Big Spring in 1940, where she worked at Big Spring County Courthouse. In 1954 she moved to Midland where she was employed by Huskey Oil Co. Huskey Oil Co. transferred her to Denver in 1961. Later she became associated with Tom Vessells, an independent oil operator. She was employed by Machi Ross Petroleum Co. in Denver. In 1987, she retired and moved to Amarillo. Survivors include a daughter, Charlotte Smith and husband, Fletcher, of Amarillo; a grandson, Dr. Mark White and wife, Karen, of Columbus, Ohio; a brother, David Voorhies and wife, Marilyn, of Weatherford; a niece, Karen McPherson of Lubbock; and a dear friend, Colleen Requist of Denver. Robert Field officiating. Mr. Moore was born in Amarillo was raised in Channing. He was in the Navy for seven years and drove a truck for seven years until his death. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Charlie Snyder. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in Fairview Cemetery in Pampa with the Rev. J.C. Burt of Barrett Baptist Church of Pampa officiating. Mrs. Seitz was born June 3, 1925, in Ardmore, Okla. She graduated from Pampa High School in Pampa. She married W.T. Seitz in Amarillo on Nov. 18, 1945. The family had resided in Borger, Lubbock and Pampa, returning to Amarillo in 1968. She was a homemaker and her hobbies were sewing and bridge, and the joy of caring for her children and grandchildren. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Amarillo and a member of The Harriet Strimple Sunday School Class. Survivors include her husband; a son, Dwayne Seitz of Tulsa, Okla.; a daughter, Paula Thornton of Monument, Colo.; a sister, Nettie Cole of Pampa; and four grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, Sept. 6, 2002 Esther Irene Jennings Esther Irene Jennings, 98, of Amarillo died Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2002, in Lubbock. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Memorial Park Cemetery with Dr. Murray Gossett of First Presbyterian Church officiating. Arrangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mrs. Jennings was born in July 1904 in Chicago. While still a young child, she moved to New Mexico with her family and attended schools in New Mexico and college at New Mexico Normal University in Las Vegas. She taught school for a while in Friona then moved to Amarillo, where she worked as a teller at First National Bank. She eventually became vice president in charge of collateral loans. She was among the first women bank officers in the state. She did volunteer work at Boys Ranch. Upon her retirement from the bank, she moved to Carillon in Lubbock, where she continued with much volunteer work and remained very active until health problems developed a few years ago. She was a devout Presbyterian in Amarillo and attended chapel services at Carillon. Her main interest was traveling and she took many wonderful trips over the years. She died at Carillon House. Survivors include a sister, Dorothy N. Woods of Alamogordo, N.M.; and several nieces and nephews. Burial will be in Doris Miller Cemetery in Waco by Littles and Sons Mortuary. Mrs. Smith was born Oct. 19, 1931, in Marlin, to Sherman and Elberneice Jackson. She married Roy L. Smith Sr. in 1950. She was a member of Free Church of God in Christ in Jesus Name in Marlin. She was preceded in death by her husband. Survivors include her children, Patricia A. Mathis of Amarillo, Miley O. Mr. Potter was born Feb. 26, 1934, in Pueblo, Colo., to Roy Potter and Ida Rockwell Rosselle. He was raised in Minnesota and graduated from Atwater High School. He served in the Marine Corps and Army. He married Charolette Meddles Potter on Sept. 7, 1990, in East Liberty. He was a union electrician with IBW Local No. 32 in Lima. He was a member of East Liberty Methodist Church. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed motorcycles and traveling. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a stepfather, Carl Rosselle. Survivors include a son, Timothy Potter and wife, Kelly, of Amarillo, Texas; four daughters, Joy Mayfield and husband, Gary, of Erick, Okla., Shoni Bryon and husband, Michael, and Merri Howard and husband, Dennis, all of Amarillo, and Angela Potter of Bowling Green; five stepdaughters, Melony Baker and husband, Gary, of East Liberty, Dawn Coy of Bellefontaine, Wandy Maples and husband, Don, and Molly Vance, both of West Liberty, and Claudia Rogers and husband, Ben, of Westminster, Md.; a brother, Dennis Potter of Morgan, Minn.; a sister, Donna Beske of Cape Coral, Fla.; his mother-in-law, Elsie Meddles of Zanesfield; 19 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
