Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Memory Gardens Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Fox, pastor of Hillcrest Baptist Church, officiating. Mrs. Dawson married Joe Sherman Dawson on June 1, 1918, in Carthage, Mo. She was a homemaker and resident of Skellytown for 50 years before moving to Snyder in October of 1991. Survivors include a daughter, Melba Gasaway of Snyder; a sister, Hazel Jenkins of Duenweg, Mo.; a grandson and two granddaughters. Amarillo Globe-News, Sept. 16, 2002. Tony Griffin WHEELER - Tony Griffin, 82, died Saturday, Sept. 14, 2002, in Amarillo. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Country Chapel Church with the Rev. Jerry Jewell, former pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home. Mr. Griffin was born on July 2, 1920, in Wheeler to Albert Beauregard and Hettie Fair Griffin. He attended Wheeler schools and lived in Wheeler most of his life. He was a salesman for 20 years. He was a veteran of the Army Air Corps serving during WWII. He was a Baptist and member of the VFW and Gideons International. He was preceded in death by a son, Buford Lynn Griffin in 1967, and a grandson, Tony Conner in 1995. Survivors include a daughter, Nita Mize of Wheeler; a brother, Joe B. Griffin of Pampa; a sister, Sarah Loiselle of Salt Lake City, Utah; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Mrs. Kelso was born June 11, 1949, to Dallas and Alma Stewart Williams in Cheyenne, Okla. She married John Kelso on May 20, 1985, in Laredo. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Amy Hatton, of Hollis, Okla., and Denise Ramirez of Woodward, Okla.; a son, Kevin Cuevas of Elk City, Okla.; her mother, Alma Wilhelm of Dodson; three brothers, Edward Williams, Burrell Williams and Robert Francis, all of Dodson; a sister, Kay Forester of Elk City, Okla.; and four grandchildren. Arrangements are by Hughs Funeral Home of Memphis. Mrs. Whitefield was born Jan. 5, 1898, in Union, Ark., to the late William Mace and Emma Dora Elizabeth Lawrence. She married Wesley Harvey Whitefield in Madill, Okla., on Jan. 23, 1916, and moved to Lakeview in 1916 where she lived until 1988. Survivors include a son, Winifred Whitefield of St. Johns, Mich.; two daughters, Mildred Morris of Yoakum, and Loiselle Bos of Wagner, Okla.; and seven grandchildren. Fifth Ave., with the Rev. Ronnie Tucker, of Friendship Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Bray had worked for West Texas Drug Wholesale. She retired from food service in Palo Duro Hospital in Canyon when it closed. She moved to Amarillo in 1926 from Bovina. She married Vester L. Bray in 1941 in Amarillo. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1973, a sister, Roberta Park; two brothers, James and Melvin Summar; and a son, Bob Bray. Survivors include a daughter, Lillie Fay Andrews of Big Spring; a daughter-in-law, Arleen Bray of Kingman, Ariz.; six grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. Trimble married Helen Bernice Taylor in Clovis, N.M., Dec. 26, 1953. He was a territory manager for three wholesale hardware companies. Survivors include his wife; a son, Kenneth Scott Trimble, and wife Rhonda, of Amarillo; two brothers, Pete Trimble of Alamogordo, N.M., and Bob Trimble of Olympia, Wa.; four sisters, Earlene Berning of Lakeview, Ark., Dean Clark of Amarillo, Wanda Mathews of Minola, Okla., and Nell St. Ama, of Early; and two granddaughters, Lindsey and Katelyn Trimble of Amarillo. Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Polk Street United Methodist Church with Dr. Jim Garrett and the Rev. Alan Williamson officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Cherry was born in Coulterville, Ill. He moved to San Angelo in 1914, where he graduated from high school in 1926. He attended Schreiner Institute in Kerrville and later attended the University of Texas in Austin. He married Elsie Amacker in 1930. He passed the CPA exam in 1941. After the attack on Pearl Harbor, he volunteered in the Army and was awarded a direct commission of first lieutenant and was separated in 1946 as a major. After returning to San Angelo, he founded the firm of Cherry, Eckert and Story. He sold the practice to his partners in 1948 and moved to Monte Vista, Colo. He moved to Amarillo in 1988. In 1989, he became the first recipient of the Jake Freeze Award given by the San Angelo Chapter of CPAs for his service to the accounting profession. The VISTA program of the IRS was one of his volunteer interests. He continued his volunteer involvement in various capacities until the time of his death. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Dorothy "Dottie" Nation and husband Jim, of Lake Tanglewood, and Edith Cherry See and husband Jim, of Albuquerque, N.M.; three grandchildren, Deborah Francis Whittenburg of Amarillo, John Mark Francis of Boxford, Mass., and James Luthi of Portland, Ore.; and six great-grandchildren.
