Services will be at 3 p.m. today in Gruver Church of Christ with Flavil Ayers officiating. Burial will be in Gruver Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman. Ms. Walters was a member of Church of Christ in Gruver. Survivors include her father, Lee Walters of Coleman; three brothers, Kenneth Walters and David Walters, both of Texhoma, and Phillip Walters of Coleman; and three sisters, Donna Walters and Cathy Ivie, both of Lubbock, and Virginia Reynolds of Guymon, Okla. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in Memory Gardens Cemetery with John Turner, minister of Mary Ellen and Harvester Church of Christ, officiating. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Coble had been a resident of Pampa most of his life. He was a member of Mary Ellen and Harvester Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife, Jackie; a daughter, Freida Walker of Pampa; four sisters, Geraldine Loving of Hollis, Okla., Mildred Deger of Clarendon, and Doris Young and Melba Watson, both of Pampa; and a brother, David Coble of Lake St. Louis, Mo. The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity. Amarillo Globe-News, Sept. 18, 2002 Thomas Lloyd Shelton FRIONA - Thomas Lloyd Shelton, 87, died Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2002, in Dimmitt. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Friona United Methodist Church with the Rev. Steve Patterson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Friona Cemetery by Blackwell Funeral Home. Mr. Shelton was a resident of Friona since 1964, moving from Floyd. He was a retired farmer and a member of Friona United Methodist Church and Friendship Sunday School class. He married Nellie Pearl Becknell on Dec. 13, 1939, in Farmersville. After he retired from farming, he worked at Paco Feed Yard in Friona for 22 years. He was preceded in death by his wife on June 30, 2000; and a son, Jimmy Shelton on Aug. 18, 1985. Survivors include a daughter, Sherrie Shelton of Friona; two sisters, Nellie Ray of Friona and Erma Ruth Hudson of Yucaipa, Calif.; and two brothers, Ralph Shelton and Luther Shelton, both of Friona. Amarillo Globe-News, Sept. 18, 2002 William Smith "Bill" Montgomery CLARENDON - William Smith "Bill" Montgomery, 88, died Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2002. Services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday in First Presbyterian Church with Rick Massick, lay pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Citizens Cemetery by Robertson Funeral Directors. Mr. Montgomery went to be with the Lord on Tuesday. He was born in Clarendon on Feb. 6, 1914. He grew up in the home that is still occupied by family. He received his education in the Clarendon schools. He continued his education as an apprentice to his father in farming and ranching. His father, Will, and twin brother, Jim, homesteaded land in Hall County when they were 18 years of age in 1890. He was always mindful of his heritage and remained a faithful steward of the land he farmed and ranched. He owned and operated independent farming and ranching businesses in Hall and Briscoe counties. His family continues their connections to the land. Cattle ranching was his avocation and his hobby. A rare individual, who truly loved what he did for a profession, he was still riding his horse at 80 years of age. He never really retired. He was the last of the true cowboys. He married Faye R. Higgins on July 1, 1934, in the parlor of First Presbyterian Church of Memphis. Three children were born to them, JoAnne Montgomery Moore, William Grady Montgomery and Sherry Noel Montgomery Semrad. Grady preceded his father in death in 1969. Mr. Montgomery was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church in Clarendon, where he served as an elder just like his father before him. His parents were the first couple to marry in the First Presbyterian Church of Clarendon. He was preceded in death by his parents, William M. and Sarah; two brothers, Paul and Joe; and a sister, Edna Louise Smith. Survivors include two daughters, JoAnne Moore and husband, James, of Canyon Lake and Sherry Semrad and husband, James, of Tucson, Ariz.; five grandchildren, Terri Truitt Griffiths and husband, John, of Houston, Tanya Truitt Puroff and husband, Chris, of Amarillo, Melissa Semrad and husband, Marco Vera, of St. Paul, Minn., Matt Semrad and wife, Shelly Watkins, of Dallas and Michelle Semrad of Los Angeles; and five great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Leah Puroff, both of Amarillo, Katrin Snider and Mateo Vera, both of St. Paul, and Ari Vaclav Hardarson of Los Angeles. Amarillo Globe-News, Sept. 18, 2002 Amarillo Frances Elizabeth Slape Frances Elizabeth Slape, 80, of Amarillo died Monday, Sept. 16, 2002. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Paducah Cemetery in Paducah with the Rev. Charles Day, Baptist minister, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mrs. Slape was born in Paris, Texas. Before moving to Amarillo in 1984, she had lived in Fritch and Breckenridge. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. She was preceded in death by her husband, Theran Lex Slape in 1985. Survivors include two sons, Robert J. Slape and Howard W. Slape, both of Amarillo; a daughter, Barbara Lynn Nelson of Amarillo; a sister, Nan Duett of Texanna, Okla.; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Trinity Fellowship Church auditorium with John "Bo" Williams, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 S. Bell St. Mr. Currin was born June 18, 1930, in Josephine, to Roy S. and Anna Pauline Currin. He married Joy Garringer in 1971 at Amarillo. He was an Air Force veteran. He received his master's degree in business administration from West Texas A&M University in Canyon. He was a past president and member of Downtown Kiwanis Club. He was a member of the board of directors for Girl Scouts TexasPlains Council in Amarillo. He retired from Amarillo National Bank in 1997 as a trust officer. He was preceded in death by his father, in 1968; and his mother, in 1999. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Katrina Farwig and husband, James, of Las Vegas; a son, Steve Foster and wife, Marcia, of Hamilton, Va.; and five grandchildren, Jessica, Ryan and Erin Foster, all of Hamilton, and Austin Farwig and Caleb Farwig, both of Las Vegas. Osage St. Ms. Davis was born in Boise City, Okla. She lived in Amarillo from 1968 to 1995, when she moved to LaJunta, Colo., and then to Fort Worth. She worked as an office manager and did accounting work for McCracken Electric for seven years. She retired in 1991, and began a self-endeavor called Data Dating Service after retirement. She was a member of the Rebekahs. Survivors include two daughters, Pam Gardner and Dorothy Hall, both of Amarillo; a son, James E. Hall of Amarillo; her mother, Mary F. Smith of Amarillo; a sister, Frances Sechrist of Amarillo; a brother, Fred O. Smith of Sulfur, Okla.; three grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. Amarillo Globe-News, Sept. 18, 2002 Elsewhere Thomas William Abraham RICHARDSON - Thomas William Abraham, 49, died Saturday, Sept. 14, 2002. Private military memorial services were held. Burial was in Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery. Arrangements were by Sparkman Funeral Home. Mr. Abraham attended high school and earned an associate's degree at Amarillo College. He was a deeply caring and loving man. Survivors include a son, Michael; his mother, Nancy; his stepfather, Hal; a brother, Andy; and three sisters, Anita, Mary and Katy.
