Mrs. Atwood was born Dec. 3, 1900, in Hill County. She married R.C. Atwood on Jan. 28, 1918, in Quanah. Survivors include a son, Curtis Atwood of Quanah; two daughters, Louella Drummond of Quanah and Virginia Atwood of Houston; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, Sept. 25, 2002 Robert "Bob" C. Sharpe PANHANDLE - Robert "Bob" C. Sharpe, 57, died Monday, Sept. 23, 2002, in Amarillo. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Paramount Terrace Christian Church in Amarillo with the Rev. Bob Parker officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Panhandle Cemetery by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle. Mr. Sharpe was born July 22, 1945, in Joliet, Ill. He attended Palo Duro High School before serving four years in the Navy. He served as Webelos den leader, and pack master for Pack 501 of Panhandle and was assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 80 of Amarillo, where he earned his Wood Badge beads. He served as senior aerospace educator for Civil Air Patrol Supply Depot in Amarillo for 21 years and was recognized as one of the Top 10 aviation and space science specialists in the United States. His work in the field of aviation and space technology has had a great impact upon teachers and students throughout America. His publication CAP Aerospace Education Catalog has been used by an estimated 10,000 teachers and impacted the science and technology education of well over 100,000 children. He has been a guest presenter at many teacher workshops including the Aerospace Education Symposium held at the U.S. Air Force Academy, where he received the Scott Crossfield Aerospace Educator of the year award in 1999. He also received the prestigious Crystal Eagle Award from the Rocky Mountain region of Civil Air Patrol, as well as the Crystal Eagle Award from the Great Lakes region and the Chuck Yeager Aerospace Award. He has volunteered numerous hours teaching and working with children, their teachers, and families teaching classes about basic and advanced rocketry throughout the Panhandle area, also teaching at Amarillo ISD, including the Amarillo Accelerated Learning Center, private schools, 4-H Clubs, Boy Scouts of America packs and troops, the Amarillo Y Indian youth group and conducted several space camps through west Texas and private schools. He married Judith "Judy" Ann Smith in 1971 in Panhandle, where they have since resided. He was preceded in death by two sons, Roger in 1977; and Robin in 1993. Survivors include his wife; a brother, Raymond of Palmdale, Calif.; and two sisters, Saly Holloway of Farmington, N.M. and Ruth McCarthy of Lubbock. Georgia St. Mrs. Austin was born in Tulia. She was the originator of the Blue Front Cafe on Sixth Avenue and Adams Street, and most recently owned Polly's Restaurant on Interstate 40 and Bolton Street. She was a former member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church. She loved to travel and cherished the time with her friends at bingo. She passed away on Monday surrounded by her family. This day our Lord received our most precious mother and we will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Austin; and her grandson, Toby Killough. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Velma Pearce in 1978; a son, Jess Eugene Jr. in 1955; a daughter, Jackie Bea in 1937; and a granddaughter, Tiffni Pearson in 1992. She graduated from West Texas State Teachers College. She worked for Santa Fe Railway in the 1950s as a secretary. She was a member of Modern Study Club and enjoyed sewing and painting. She attended St. Luke Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1992. Survivors include two nephews, Rick McGarrey of Tucson and Tom O. Amarillo Globe-News, Sept. 25, 2002 Elsewhere Omer William Jordan WICHITA FALLS - Omer William Jordan, 78, died Saturday, Sept. 21, 2002. Services will be at 1 p.m. today in Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Dillard, associate pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Crestview Memorial Park. Mr. Jordan was born Aug. 24, 1924, in Beaumont, to the late Philip and Jennie Lee Steadham Jordan. A 1943 graduate of Vernon High School, he proudly served his country in the Air Force and earned his pilot wings in 1944. After service time, he attended West Texas State University, where he earned a bachelor of science and master's degrees. On July 19, 1946, he married Dorthey Fish in Clovis, N.M., and they were married 56 years. He taught and coached in Dumas from 1948 to 1951, after which he was employed by the Department of Defense at Amarillo Air Force Base. From 1960 to 1973, he served as national vice-president of the American Federation of Government Employees. He began work at Sheppard Air Force Base in 1973, until his retirement in 1995, concluding 44 years of military and civil service. He was a member of many Masonic organizations including, Faith Lodge No. 1158 A.F. & A.M., Shriner's Fort Worth Scottish Rite Bodies, Royal Order of Scotland, Royal Order of Jesters, National Sojourners, Heroes of 76 and Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include his wife; his children, William David Jordan and wife, Beth, of Midland, Phillip Lee Jordan and wife, Liz, of Amarillo, Judy Borchardt and husband, Bobbie, of Oklahoma City, John Jay Jordan of Austin, and Jorge Bryan Jordan and wife, Jessie, of Wichita Falls; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Margaret Bailes of Kerrville and Phyllis Gant of Oakdale, Md.
