"Margie" Goettling, 77, died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2002 in Denver. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today in Memorial Park Cemetery by Horizon Funeral Home. Mrs. Goettling was born Oct. 2, 1925, in Dalhart to Joe and Addie Young and was the fourth of five children. She lived a full life and was devoted to her family. She was much loved by her family and will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her oldest sister, Mary. Survivors include two sons, Roy E. Goettling and wife, Lee, of Littleton, Colo., and Ray M. Goettling and wife, Bobbi, of Denver; a brother, Roy Young of Albuquerque, N.M.; two sisters, Joan McCoy of Albuquerque and Jean Crisler of Los Alamos, N.M.; two grandsons, Dirk Goettling and Chad Goettling, both of Denver; a granddaughter, Ara O'Hayre of Fort Collins, Colo.; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was the principal of the Rex Reeves Elementary School in Canyon prior to being a professor at Wayland Baptist University for the past two years. Survivors include a son, Travis L. Rich of Oklahoma City; her parents, M.C. and Ramona Engram of Sudan; two sisters, Rena Popejoy of Sunray and Eloise McGalliard of Madisonville; and two brothers, Roy Engram of Canyon and Kim Engram of Austin. She married Dallas Wyatt on Oct. 20, 1936, in White Deer. Amarillo Globe-News, Oct. 7, 2002 Stephen Clay Jones FRIONA - Stephen Clay Jones, 44, died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2002. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church of Friona with the Rev. Mark Stovall, pastor, and Leon Talley, of Friona, officiating. Burial will be in Friona Cemetery by Blackwell Funeral Home. Mr. Jones had been a resident of Friona since 1981, moving from Melrose, N.M. He was a Baptist. He was a 1976 graduate of Melrose High School. He married Donice Glover on Dec. 1, 1984, in Friona. He was a 17-year veteran of the Friona Police Department retiring in 1997 as sergeant. He was most recently owner of Jones Pulling Service and had been employed with 4-Way Pump of Friona for more than 20 years. He had served more than 20 years with the Friona Volunteer Fire Department and was named Firefighter of the Year in 1999. He served as training officer for many years and presently was a captain. He was a member of the Texas State Firefighters and Fire Marshall's Association and a member of the South Pacific chapter of the Texas Ground Water Association. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Stephenie Allyn Jones and Kimberlee Denise Jones, both of Friona; his parents, Jim and Hazel Jones of Friona; and a sister, Katie Graham of Clovis, N.M. Georgia St. The former Dorothy McCarthy of Atchison, Kan., attended St. Benedicts Elementary, Mount St. Scholastica Academy and Atchison School of Business. She worked for Pillsbury in Atchinson as a secretary for 15 years. She married E.C. "Bus" Burnes in Kansas City, Kan., on Nov. 3, 1951. She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, the Confraternity of Christian Mothers and St. Thomas Altar Society. She was also a member of the Amarillo Country Club. Georgia St. Mr. Watson was born in Matador. He attended school in Roaring Springs and was a 1971 graduate of Floydada High School. He married Kay Russell on Aug. 10, 1974, in Floydada. They moved to Canyon in 1974. He worked for Owens Corning for 20 years and served as a supervisor at the time of his death. He was a member of Southwest Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father, W.B. Watson, in 1992. Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Deborah McClung of Dalhart, Yolanda Baldwin of Framingham, Mass., and Jennifer McClung and Vanessa Baldwin, both of Missoula, Mont.; his parents, Lyle and Doris Baldwin of Amarillo; a brother, Bo Baldwin of Atlanta, Ga.; a sister, Linda Martin of Amarillo; and a grandson. Mr. Bray was born April 19, 1923, in Aquilla. He served during World War II during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. He later retired from the Army as a staff sergeant. He was a Baptist and founding member of The Church of the Lakes in Smith County. He drove a school bus for Van Independent School District. Survivors include his loving wife of 34 years, Nina; three sons, Robert Bray, Billy Bray and Billy Clyde Earle; a daughter, Nina Beth Jones; a sister, Evelina Parker of California; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
