Mr. Underwood married Bette Gayle Trulove on Aug. 9, 1996, in Memphis. He worked more than 20 years for Imperial Security in the paper production industry. Morrison, 73, died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2002. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Scott Penrod, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Morrison was born Nov. 5, 1928, in Wichita, Kan. He came to Pampa in 1942 from Wichita. He was a 1947 graduate of Pampa High School and received a bachelor's degree in animal science from Texas Tech University in 1951. He married Fran Huff on June 10, 1954, in Hemphill County. He was a longtime rancher in Roberts County. He was a 50-year member of Pampa Masonic Lodge No. 966 AF&AM, York Rite Bodies, Scottish Rite Bodies and Khiva Temple in Amarillo. He was a member of First United Methodist Church where he served as president of Methodist Men as well as serving on the finance board. He was a former Roberts County Commissioner, former director of Production Credit Association and served on Roberts County Soil Water Conservation Board. He was a current board member of Texas Tech Division of Opportunity Plan Inc. He was an active adult leader in 4-H. He was a veteran of the Army, serving during the Korean conflict. He was preceded in death by a son, David Morrison in 1964. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Dusty Morrison and wife, Kathy, of Hawley, Frank W. Morrison and wife, Lynette, of Lubbock and Jim Morrison and wife, Shari, of Pampa; a sister, Barbara Focht of Houston; and four grandchildren, Will Morrison of Lubbock, Hannah Morrison of Hawley, and Shelly Morrison and Kaylin Morrison, both of Pampa. Mr. Belcher was born Sept. 20, 1963, to Billy and Rebecca Delores Bell Belcher in Amarillo. He attended high school in Welch, W.Va., and graduated high school from Horn Lake, Miss. He was a veteran of the Army. After his discharge, he moved to Amarillo and then to Fritch in 2000. He was employed at Timmens Welding of Amarillo. He was a member of Dayspring Ministries. Mr. Martin was born June 3, 1941, in Cottle County. He married Betty Richardson on April 6, 1996, in Paducah. Amarillo Globe-News, Oct. 10, 2002 John Stephen Mayfield PERRYTON - John Stephen Mayfield, 75, died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2002, in Amarillo. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in First Christian Church with Dr. Jeff Knighton officiating. Burial will be in Ochiltree Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. Mr. Mayfield was born June 5, 1927, in Tulsa, Okla. He was one of five children born to Clarence Otis Mayfield and Hettie Maye Albritton. He was reared in the Val Verde community in Milam County. He graduated from Bucholts High School and attended Temple Junior College. After serving two years in the Navy during World War II, he graduated from Baylor University with a degree in business administration. From college he went to Anson and served as the Chamber of Commerce director for 11 months. He came to Perryton in 1952 and served as the manager of the Chamber of Commerce for 22 years. In 1974, he started Mayfield Real Estate and up until his death, was active in developing the Ochiltree County area. He served as president of International Highway 83 for two terms, president of Lions Club, was a 32nd Degree Mason, president of Wheatheart Shrine Club and vice-president of Industrial Foundation. He has been honored by the Junior Chamber of Commerce and the Ochiltree Chamber of Commerce as outstanding citizen. He had received special recognition by Boy Scouts, YMCA and the 4-H Clubs. He was one of the original sponsors of the YMCA. He donated a parcel of land for the new Chamber of Commerce location site as well as land to the activity center for sports activities. He was a member of First Christian Church. Survivors include his wife, Nell Peckenpaugh; a son, Gail Stephen Mayfield of Colleyville; five daughters, Johnell Archer and Paula Mayfield, both of Perryton, Peggy Khan and Mary Mayfield, both of Denton, and Molly Keith of Coppell; a brother, Sherman Mayfield and wife, Ruthie, of Rogers; a brother-in-law, Dr. Max Butler of Houston; and 10 grandchildren. "Bob" Owen BOVINA - Robert E. "Bob" Owen, 69, died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2002, in Amarillo. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Bovina United Methodist Church with the Rev. Quita Jones, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Bovina Cemetery by Blackwell Funeral Home. Mr. Owen had lived in Bovina since 1979, moving from Friona where he had lived since 1963. He graduated from Olney High School in 1952. He received his bachelor's degree from Midwestern University in Wichita Falls and his master's from West Texas State University. He coached and taught school at Lakeview, Amarillo, Stinnett and Friona and retired from the Bovina ISD as superintendent. He married Maxine Stocking in 1958. She died in July 1975. He married Sarah Cooper Alexander on July 31, 1977, in Friona. He was a member of Bovina United Methodist Church, where he served as church treasurer and past chairman of the administrative board. He was member and past president of Bovina Lions Club. He was a member and past president of Bovina Chamber of Commerce. He was past president of the Parmer County division of American Heart Association. He was a lifetime member of Texas State Teachers Association. He was an avid golfer and had played on many different courses. He was a veteran of the Army. While in the Army, he played football for the 3rd Army division at Fort Hood. Survivors include three boys, Rod Owen of El Paso, Robert Alexander Jr. of Corpus Christi and Andy Alexander of Friona; two girls, Julie Bender of Canyon and Cindy Alexander of Friona; three sisters, Betty Langford and Joanne Wright, both of Olney, and Barbara Hobbs of Phoenix; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Mike attended Canyon High School and joined the Navy. He served in Vietnam aboard the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise. After serving his country, he worked in Las Vegas as casino security at Golden Nugget, and spent recent years serving the city of Amarillo as a security guard for Amarillo Public Libraries. Mike had a friendly outgoing personality, a great smile and never met a stranger. He had many friends in Amarillo and Canyon and will be missed by all who knew him. Burial will be in Mayfield Cemetery by Rose Chapel Funeral Service. Mrs. Loftin was born Sept. 3, 1910, in Mayfield. She married Guy L. Loftin at Elk City on May 20, 1933. Survivors include her husband; and numerous nieces and nephews. Amarillo Globe-News, Oct. 10, 2002 Elsewhere Naomi Sue Hardy SUTHERLIN, Ore. - Naomi Sue Hardy, 76, died Sunday, Oct. 6, 2002. Memorial services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Chapel of the Firs with Les Albierg, chaplain, officiating. Mrs. Hardy was born April 16, 1926, in Stephens County, Okla., to Fred and Dora Standridge Kuchenbuch. On Aug. 2, 1943, Naomi married Max Hardy in Galveston. Max was in the Navy and for the next few years they moved to wherever Max was stationed. In 1946, Naomi moved to Texas, where she started her family, giving birth to twin daughters. They were followed by two sons. In 1963, Naomi and her family moved to Anchorage, Alaska, where another son was born. In 1983, Naomi moved to Douglas County. She was a devoted wife and mother and a "great" grandmother and great-grandmother. She spoiled her family with love, her home was filled with the smell of pies, German chocolate cake, apricot turnovers, and her specialty, Texas chili. Naomi enjoyed the out of doors, riding horseback and collecting antiques. She liked to work on genealogy and the family tree. Naomi's warmth and her positive attitude will be missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her brothers, J.R. Williams and Walter Williams. Survivors include her husband; her children, Diane Breyer and husband, John, of Sutherlin, Suzanne Huska and husband, Andy, of Santa Ynez, Calif., Gunnar Hardy and wife, Kaye, of Medford, Clay Hardy and wife, Deonne, of Roy, Wash., and Daniel Hardy of Anchorage; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Louise Gray and husband, Gerald, of Amarillo.
