Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Southern Baptist Church of Fritch with the Rev. Calvin Winters, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. Mrs. Burris had lived in Fritch since 1952. She was an office manager and lead clerk for Natural Gas Pipeline Co. of America. Survivors include her husband, Wayne; two sons, David of Fritch and Chad of Denver City; two daughters, Loree Patak of Odessa and Tammy Williamson of Fritch; her mother, Lona Austin of Fritch; four sisters, Carol Sue Kinnamon of Colorado Springs, Colo., Rhonda Glover, Barbara Hardy and Jackie Whatley, all of Fritch; and 10 grandchildren. Rodney Riggan, pastor of the church, officiating. Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mrs. Curtis was born March 5, 1931, in Dalhart. She married Ira B. Curtis on July 18, 1949, and was a homemaker. She was a lifelong Dumas resident. She was preceded in death by a son, Ricky Curtis in 1995; and a grandson, Alex Curtis in 1996. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Terry Curtis of Dumas; two sisters, Allene Lieb of Dumas and Irene Cardwell of Whitesboro; two grandsons, Dan Curtis of Detroit and Chuck Curtis of Huber Heights, Ohio; a granddaughter, Amy Curtis of Amarillo; and two great-grandsons, Tyler Barton and Peyton Barton, both of Amarillo. Darrell Burton, pastor of Martin Baptist Church in Clarendon, and Blake McWhirter, great nephew of Mrs. Henry, officiating. Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon. Mrs. Henry was born June 2, 1911, in Cook County and had been a Hall County resident most of her life. She married Alan Thomas Henry in 1930 at Lakeview. She was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church in Memphis. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1978. Mr. Gilliam was born Nov. 11, 1930, in Quanah, son of the late Arthur Burch and Ola Jeanett (McCormick) Gilliam. He was a graduate of Quanah High School and a member of the Presbyterian Church. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Mannilla was born in Hoboken, N.J. He served in the military for 22 years, retiring as an instructor at West Point. He married Debra Simpson in August. The family would like to express their appreciation for the care Mr. Mannilla received from the staff of Baptist St. Anthony's Hospice and the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. She was a member of First Christian Church of Amarillo. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1978. Mrs. McKendrick was born in Clearfield, Pa., to Victor and Laura Jones. She moved to Amarillo in 1978 from Tonawanda, N.Y., where she was a life member and past president of the Sheridan Park Fire Department Auxiliary. She was a retired LVN, having worked at the Elizabeth J. Bivins Retirement Center and at the Amarillo Nursing Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin, in 1995. He attended Amarillo High School and was a longtime member of Fairview Assembly of God. At one time he was employed by Abrasion and Corrosion Engineering of Amarillo, a job that took him to Israel for two years. He was retired from Pantex as an electrical engineer. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Donal Upchurch, in 1962. Survivors include his wife, Betty; a son, Jack Upchurch of Arlington; two daughters, Marilyn Moody and Darlene Wade, both of Amarillo; a brother, Michael Upchurch of Amarillo; a twin sister, Betty Jean Miley of Hahira, Ga.; five grandsons; and a granddaughter. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, Bell Avenue Chapel, 5400 Bell St., with the Rev. Robert Field officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in Erick Cemetery of Erick, Okla. Mr. Davis was born in Colorado and moved to Erick as a young man. He graduated from Erick High School in 1951 and graduated from West Texas State University. He served his country in the Army. He married Betty Mabry on April 25, 1953, in Fort Sumner, N.M. He retired after 34 years at Phillips Petroleum and was a consultant for Phillips project management. He was a lifelong Baptist holding several different offices including chairman of the deacons in several area churches. He was active in Scouting and served as Scout- master, order of arrow, for several years. He was honored as an outstanding Scouter with a silver beaver award. Rutledge, 96, died Thursday, Sept. 26, 2002. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors. Arrangements are by Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, Greenwood Chapel. Mr. Rutledge was born Feb. 14, 1906, in Taylor to William Henry and Mary Katherine (Berry) Rutledge. He had served at several local ranches as a ranch hand before joining the Army. He served in the Army for 24 years before retiring in January of 1964. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Elizy; and a sister, Willie Mae Bearrett. Survivors include a brother, Clifford Rutledge of Texas; a sister, Ima Jean Clifton of California; caregiver and companion, Glendola Beals; and 58 nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Amarillo Globe-News, Oct. 14, 2002 Howard "Smokey" Janes SUNDOWN - Howard "Smokey" Janes, 88, died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2002. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dale Cain, pastor, and the Rev. Glenn Reece, pastor of Fairview Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Sundown Cemetery by George C. Price Funeral Directors of Levelland. Mr. Janes was born June 7, 1914, in Hillsboro. He married Earlene Phillips on Oct. 17, 1934, in Hillsboro and they moved to Whitharral in 1941. They lived in Sundown from 1944 to 1972 where he farmed and managed the Hockley County Gin. He also served as county commissioner for 12 years. From 1972 until 1998 he was a fishing guide on Lake Amistad, Del Rio. They returned to Sundown in 1998. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Sundown. He was preceded in death by a son, Jimmie Janes, in 1990. Survivors include his wife, Earlene; a daughter, Sue Caddell and husband, Joe, of Sundown; a daughter-in-law, Linda Janes of Amarillo; a sister, Mary Ellen Bentley of Whitney; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two nieces; and a nephew. He preceded her in death in 1973. She moved to White Deer in 1953 from McLean and moved to Levelland in 1996. She graduated from West Texas Normal College in 1926 and taught school in McLean for three years. She was a homemaker and a very active member of the First United Methodist Church in White Deer. She was preceded in death by a son, Jack Brooks, in 1998; and a daughter, Beth Jordan Perkins, in 2001. Amarillo Globe-News, Oct. 14, 2002 Elsewhere Catherine Lucille Dumas FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Catherine Lucille Dumas, 48, died Thursday, Oct. 3, 2002. Services have taken place. Arrangements are by Heritage Funeral Home of Dallas. Mrs. Dumas was born Nov. 2, 1953. She was an artist, novelist, poet and an exceptionally accomplished cook. She received her greatest acclaim from her family. She was a devoted wife and mother to her husband, Gary Dumas, and her twin daughters, Mandy Rauch and Arika Beals. Throughout her life the family lived in Amarillo, Corpus Christi, Texas, San Angelo, Texas, and Sioux City, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her father, Andrew Butynes, in 1998. Survivors include her husband, Gary; two daughters, Mandy Rauch of Omaha, Neb., and Arika Beals of Missoula, Mont.; her mother, Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Butynes of Dallas; and two brothers, Andrew Butynes of Dallas and Keith Butynes of Rowlett. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in Fairmont Cemetery of Follett by Holley Funeral Home. Mrs. Green was born Dec. 11, 1916, in Ivanhoe, Okla., to Jay and Jesse Henricks. She married Robert L. Green on June 1, 1941, in Beaver, Okla. She was a public school teacher for 33 years having started in a two-room school with grades one through eight. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Canyon and had attended First Christian Church of Dalhart for the last several years. She moved to Higgins in April, 2002. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; her parents; three brothers; and a nephew. Survivors include a daughter, Mikki Millsap and husband, Keith, of Higgins; two sons, George Green and wife, Taylor, of Midland and Jon Green and wife, Theresa, of Dalhart; a sister-in-law, Juanita Henricks; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
