Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Dumas Cemetery with the Rev. Richard Weightman officiating. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mrs. Powell was born Oct. 11, 1913, in Kerens. She married Ernest S. Powell on Aug. 9, 1988, in Clayton, N.M. She was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Dumas. She was an employee of Levines in Dumas for several years. She was former owner/operator of The Malt Shoppe in Dumas. She was a Dumas resident since 1952. Prior to that time she was a resident of Earth. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Bobbie Brown and husband, Donnie, of Dumas; two sons, Kenneth Williams and wife, Dee, and Melvin Williams and wife, Gail, all of Vega; a sister, Beedie Welch of Earth; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ricky Carstensen, pastor, and the Rev. Rob Lindley of Tulia, former pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home. Mr. Clark was born to John and Zulfia Springer Clark on Nov. 13, 1951. On Aug. 23, 1986, he married Sibyl Richerson in Mesa, Ariz. They moved to Wheeler in 1992 from Glendale, Ariz. Mr. Clark was a heavy equipment operator in construction work. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by a brother, Bruce Clark in 1976. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Heather Chisum of Lubbock; two sons, John E. Mrs. Luera was born Aug. 19, 1910, in Chihuahua, Mexico. She married Benjamin Luera in 1927 at San Angelo. She was a member of Church of the Holy Spirit and was a Crucillista and a Guadalupana. She was raised in Texas and moved to Tulia from San Angelo in 1947. She received a recognition from the bishop for her past work in the church. She was preceded in death by her husband on Dec. 10, 1978; a son, Augustin Luera; and two brothers, Raul Medina and Rodolpho Medina. Burial was at 3 p.m. in Erick Cemetery of Erick, Okla. Mr. Davis was born in Colorado and moved to Erick as a young man. He graduated from Erick High School in 1951 and graduated from West Texas State University. He served his country in the Army. He married Betty Mabry on April 25, 1953, in Fort Sumner, N.M. He retired after 34 years at Phillips Petroleum and was a consultant for Phillips project management. He was a lifelong Baptist holding several different offices including chairman of the deacons in several area churches. He was active in Scouting and served as Scoutmaster, order of the arrow, for several years. He was honored as an outstanding Scouter with a silver beaver award. Mr. Alexander was born July 5, 1925, in the Buckcreek Community of Collingsworth County, to Emory Clyde Alexander and Ellen Matilda Branum Alexander. He married Gloria Yvonne Boyd on Feb. 25, 1949, in Dodson. He graduated from Wellington High School in 1943 and attended Amarillo College. He served in the Navy on board the USS Sperry during World War II. He was managing partner of Canyon Drive Lumber Co. from 1966 to 1989. He was a life member and past president of Lumberman's Association of Texas. He had served on the board of directors of National Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association from 1984 to 1987. He was a member of Amarillo Association of Credit Management from 1976 to 1980. He was a former member and secretary-treasurer of WTSU Cager Club from 1975 to 1980. He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Jean Alexander; and a grandson, James Darby Reid. Amarillo Globe-News, Oct. 15, 2002 Nina Irene Rouse Nina Irene Rouse, 98, of Amarillo died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002. Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Trinity Baptist Church with Dr. David Evans, senior pastor, officiating. Burial will be at 4 p.m. (MDT) in Fairmont Cemetery in Raton, N.M., by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mrs. Rouse was born Oct. 3, 1904, near Dearing, Kan., to Frank and Katie Patterson. She graduated from Independence High School and Liberal Normal School. She taught school in the same one room schoolhouse she attended as a child. She moved to Denver and worked as a legal secretary. While looking for work, she became a Harvey Girl at the Harvey House in Belen, N.M., and Trinidad, Colo. She met and married Ray Nile Rouse, a Raton native, on Oct. 17, 1933. The Rouses made their home in Raton beginning in 1945. Nina was also employed at Miner's Hospital in Raton from 1948 to 1966. She was a member of Eastern Star in Raton for more than 50 years, and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Amarillo. Nina was endowed with many gifts. She was a "Blue Ribbon" winner as a needlepoint and tatting artist. Her greatest gift, however, was her ability to be a true friend to the people of all ages who crossed her path. Her friendship with Ruth Hamlin (deceased), whom she moved with to Amarillo 14 years ago, introduced her to Ruth's family who soon adopted her as a family member. She will be missed by her many friends including Ruth's daughter, Carol Hale and her children, Deborah Bowman and Lindi; Danelle and Tracy Cain, Josh, Rebekah and Emily; Laura and Terry Powers, Tracy Joan; Jennifer and Brian Everett, Allison, Andrew and Lily; Mathew Hale and son, Kade; and Michael James Hale. Carol's brother, Jim Hamlin and wife, Darlene, and family of Seattle and their niece, Mikie Doyle and husband, Mike, and daughter, Snezhana, of Lewisville. Mrs. Neely, born Oct. 9, 1904, in Marietta, Okla., in Indian Territory, moved with her family to Amarillo in 1904. Her father, Ira Pearce, worked for the railroad. She married Robert C. Neely in 1927. Mrs. Neely worked at one time for the county attorney and the county clerk in the Potter County Courthouse. She was in Eastern Star and was active in her husband's Masonic activities; was a member of Panhandle Pen Women's Club and a member of First Presbyterian Church of Amarillo. She spent most of her time raising her three children, but in her eighties, started oil painting, studying briefly with Ben Konis. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1969; and an infant daughter, Francis Evelyn Neely. Survivors include a daughter, Doris E. Nelson of Amarillo; two sons, Dan R. Neely and R. Wayne was reared in Hollis and Plainview, Texas. He served in the Navy between 1946 and 1947, during World War II. Wayne married Corriene "Corky" Fly on May 9, 1977, in Clayton, N.M. He later lived in Shamrock, Texas, working for Shamrock Oil Co. before moving to Enos in 1980 from Guymon. Wayne owned and operated Lake Texhoma Trash Service. He was a member of Texhoma Baptist Church, where he served as an usher and on the finance committee. Wayne enjoyed golfing, working, playing cards and church activities. Survivors include his wife; a son, John Tooley of Madill; five daughters, Sharon Martin of Lubbock, Texas, Debbie Skaggs of Bakersfield, Calif., Trish Bergstrom of Arlington, Texas, Rene Doran of Carrollton, Texas, and Shirley Nunley of Madill; a brother, W.H. Philley of Big Springs, Texas; two sisters, Cecil Philley of Lawton and Ethel Luker of Amarillo, Texas; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Casket bearers include, Ray Armstrong, Daryl O'Neil, Bob Cox, Lawrence Wheeler, Gary Alsbrook and Max Clark. Honorary pallbearers include the Disciple Sunday School Class.
