Burial will be in Grey Mule Cemetery by Myers-Long Funeral Directors. Mr. Pigg married Delores Hartsell Welch on Jan. 17, 1947, in Amarillo. He served in the Army from Feb. 27, 1942, to Oct. 4, 1945. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Bill Pigg of Quitaque and Mike Pigg of Silverton; two grandchildren; a brother, Jack Pigg of Quitaque; sisters, Jean McCarver of Hale Center and Connie Bills of Prescott Valley, Ariz. Amarillo Globe-News, Oct. 17, 2002 Louise Riley CLARENDON - Louise Riley, 88, died Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Robertson Funeral Directors Chapel of Memories with the Rev. Bryan Knowles, pastor of Community Fellowship Church, officiating. Burial will be in Citizens Cemetery. Mrs. Riley was born in Blue, Okla., on Aug. 15, 1914, to Jenny and Tas Stone. The family moved from Blue, to the Paducah area, then to Silverton before settling in Clarendon. She married Pete Riley on Jan. 4, 1936. She worked in several dry good stores in Clarendon over the years until purchasing a gas station/antique shop with her husband in 1975 after retiring from farming. After her husband's death, she operated the shop until earlier this year. She was a loving and caring mother, family member and friend. She will be remembered for having a strong work ethic, a wonderful sense of humor, her dedication to family, a person of integrity and her love of plants and flowers. She was loved very much by her family and her presence will be missed beyond words. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1987; and a brother, George Stone in 2001. Survivors include a son, Jimmy Riley and wife, Debbie, of Amarillo; two brothers, Jay Stone and wife, Ola, of Clarendon and Kenneth Stone and wife, Liz, of Howardwick; a sister, Sue Hardage and husband, Truett, of Altus, Okla.; two grandchildren, Crystal Riley of Dallas and Brent Riley of Amarillo; two nieces, Susie Hardage and Becky Bills; two nephews, Rod Stone and Charlie Hardage; and a great-niece, Heather Churchwill. Mrs. Carter was born in Yeager, Okla., to Mack and Jettie Hulsey. She married Ed Smith in 1941 at Anadarko, Okla., and they moved to Clarendon shortly after their marriage. They worked for Ross Darby Dairy and for Boke Bugbee. They also lived in the Groom area where she worked for the Golden Spread Grill. Mr. Smith died in 1974 and she moved to Nevada for a time. She then lived in Lefors and Clarendon again before moving to Jacksboro where she met and married Glen Carter. He died in 1986. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; a sister, Nora Jewel Hulsey Ledbetter; and three brothers, Lester Edward Hulsey, Roy Virgil Hulsey and Carl C. Hulsey. Duckett PANHANDLE - Truman R. Duckett, 79, died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2002, in Amarillo. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in First Baptist Church of Panhandle with the Rev. Mr. Duckett was born Oct. 29, 1922, in Canton, Ga., and had been a Panhandle area resident since 1960. He was a machinist for Pantex and served in the Army 407th Gun Battalion during World War II in Normandy and Rhineland, Germany. He received three Bronze Stars and two overseas service bars. He was a member of Men's Panhandle Bluegrass Old Tyme Music Association and a lifetime member of James Mecaskey VFW Post No. 6972 and DAV. He was preceded in death by a brother, Gordon Duckett; and a grandson, Guy Jones. Brillhart, 82, died Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Greg Kennedy officiating. Burial will be in Ochiltree Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. Mr. Brillhart was born in Liberal, Kan., on April 29, 1920, to S.L. (Saint Luke) and Marian Carter Brillhart. He was raised on a farm southeast of Perryton. He graduated from Perryton High School in 1938 and attended Wichita Business College. He married Juanita Cox on March 2, 1941. They had been married for 61 years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and Skyview Sunday School Class. He was a World War II veteran. He served in the 391st Bombardment Group of the 9th Air Force in Europe. He was trained as a tailgunner on the B-26. While in combat in Europe in 1944, during the Battle of the Bulge, his plane was shot down. He was captured as a prisoner of war, was held prisoner for five months and liberated on April 29, 1945. He was awarded the Purple Heart and several battle commendations. He had been a lifetime member of VFW and American Legion. He continued a lifetime of farming in Ochiltree County as a wheat grower and cattle raiser for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Woodrow Brillhart and Wilson Brillhart; and a sister, Florene. Survivors include his wife; a son, Randy Brillhart and wife, Theresa, of Perryton; a daughter, Rosalind Shinn and husband, Rusty, of Lubbock; a sister, Nettie Mac Ford and husband, Joe, of The Villages, Fla.; five grandchildren, Holly Ware, Amy McAlister, Jeff Shinn, Tandra Brillhart and Whitney Dukes; and two great-grandchildren. Burial will be noon in Panhandle Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Pratt was born April 15, 1927, in Fort Supply, Okla., to Vascus Leroy Pratt and Hazel Strandberg Pratt. He grew up happily working and farming with his parents and brothers, Glenn, Johnny, Arty and sister, Velma, near Claude, Washburn and Panhandle. He graduated from Panhandle High School in 1945 and joined the Navy before commencement. He briefly attended a Texas A&M campus at Arlington, in the Navy V-12 pilot training program. When World War II ended, he completed his Navy enlisted service in San Francisco bay on crews decommissioning numerous ships returning from the war. He married Pauline Aishman on May 13, 1951, in Altus, Okla., and was a devoted and loving husband for nearly 52 years. He worked for 43 years at the Pantex Department of Energy Plant. He retired from the Metrology Department at Pantex in 1994 and was a lifelong member of International Association of Machinists. He lived his life as a devoted Christian, and was a loving and beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a friend to many and loved to spread joy to all. Without prompting, he would play the harmonica for any who wanted to hear and some who did not. He always wanted to know how much it had rained at Panhandle. He was an energetic and gentle and kind man. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Glenn and Arty; and a daughter, Angela Pauline Pratt. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Sammy L. Pratt Jr. and wife, Priscilla, of Amarillo; a son, James Leroy Pratt of Woodlawn, Tenn.; a granddaughter, Cynthia Pratt Hunley of Amarillo; two great-grandchildren, Jordan Hunley and Angela Hunley, both of Amarillo; a sister, Velma Davis of Amarillo; and a brother, the Rev. Osage St. Mr. Frye was born in Dawn. He lived in Amarillo most of his life. He served in the Marines Corps during the Korean War. He retired from the city of Amarillo. He was a helicopter mechanic working in Vietnam, Turkey and Iran with Lear Seigler and Bell Helicopter Textron, retiring from there in 1981. He was an Army veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict and remained very active with VFW. He was preceded in death by his wife on May 24, 1999. Survivors include two sons, Robert W. Shaw Jr. and William R. Shaw, both of Amarillo; a daughter, Debra J. Mr. Johnson was born Sept. 8, 1918, in Wapanucka, Okla. He moved to the Texas Panhandle as a young boy and farmed with his family near Wellington, Texas, in Collingsworth County.
