All Obits - Text Only Area Amy Beth Henson Hill DUMAS - Amy Beth Henson Hill, 93, died Friday, Oct. 18, 2002. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Wagoner, pastor, officiating. Graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m. in Sayre-Doxey Cemetery of Sayre, Okla. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mrs. Hill was born Oct. 1, 1909, in Doxey, Okla. She had been a Dumas resident for the past 27 years. She was a homemaker and member of First United Methodist Church. She married Pat Hill on Aug. 26, 1929, in Sayre. She was very active and dedicated to her church. She was a 50-year member of Women's Society in Christian Service and Dumas Chapter No. 653, Order of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1975; a son, Ernie Hill in 1992; and a daughter, Patty Lackey in 1998. Survivors include a son, Richard Hill of Panola, Okla.; a daughter, Beth James and husband, Bobby, of Dumas; a brother, Joe Henson and wife, Kathy, of Amelia Island, Fla.; a daughter-in-law, Hazel Hill of Moore, Okla.; a son-in-law, Bill Lackey of Dumas; two sisters-in-law, Lillian Hill of Waco and Myrna Henson of King City, Calif.; grandchildren, Denise Rothschopf and husband, K.C., Sheila Teer and husband, Zack, Patti Hinners and husband, John, Lisa Foreman and husband, Terry, Jimmy Lackey and wife, Kim, Kim Watson and husband, Johnny, Kristi Kuker, Kevelyn Dyer and husband, Perry, Bart Lackey, Ryan Hill and Shonna Guthrie; 25 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn Lunt. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in First Baptist Church of Elk City, Okla., with Dr. Russell Duck officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in the White Deer Cemetery by Martin Funeral Home of Elk City. Mr. Cade was born Nov. 20, 1940, in Pampa to Carl and Reba (Vestal) Cade. He married Mary Freeman on Sept. 15, 1959, in White Deer. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Gay Lynne Price of Freer, Beverly Ann Price of Marble Falls and Jill Renae Webb of Edmond, Okla.; a stepbrother, Jim Ray McCann of Nocona; and six grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, Oct. 20, 2002 Donald Gordon Parker WHITE DEER - Donald Gordon Parker, 69, died Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Trinity Fellowship Church of Amarillo with Phil Mercado, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Minton-Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle. Don "The Red Baron" Parker was born in Beverly, Mass., on March 17, 1933. He lived with his paternal grandmother and grandfather in Essex, Mass., until the age of 9 at which time he and his younger brother, Cliff, moved with their father and stepmother to Somers, Conn. Don attended Somers and Rockville schools and entered the Navy at age 17, serving aboard the submarine USS Grouper during the Korean Conflict. When his tour of duty ended, he enlisted in the Air Force, which brought him to Amarillo in 1956, and in which he served for six years, achieving staff sergeant status and including a one-year tour in Saudi Arabia teaching aircraft mechanics. Don was a natural as a mechanic, earning renown among motorcyclists. But his passion was motorcycle racing. He was know in those circles as "The Red Baron" - a reference to the custom red leathers he wore and his commanding performances during his flat-track racing days. He worked for Amarillo Sport Cycles, SunSport Suzuki, Four Seasons Motorcycles and Spinnin Wheels among other bike shops in Amarillo in the years following his Air Force career. He also taught courses in motorcycle maintenance at Amarillo College. In 1987 biblical artist Kenneth Wyatt, used him as the model of Peter, the apostle, in his Apostle series displayed in many of the Methodist churches across the country and around the world as well as in Don's own church, Trinity Fellowship. He was preceded in death by his father, James; his mother, Thelma; and a brother, Cliff. Survivors include his wife of 10 years, Linda; a daughter, Margarette Lecker of Lubbock; stepdaughters, Alice Jo Thulin of Abilene, Linda McCurdy of Amarillo, Lynna Mealem of Lubbock and Wendy Sherrill of Los Angeles; a stepson, Jason Couch of Amarillo; grandchildren, Monte Joe Martin of San Antonio, Billie Joe Stevenson and Craig Brown, both of Amarillo, Chris Thulin of Midland, Kevin Thulin, Jordan Mealem, Mackenzie Mealem, Brittany Lecker, Cailey Lecker and Faith Lecker, all of Lubbock; great-grandchildren, Brittany Stevenson, Brigette Stevenson, Brandon Stevenson and Christian Stevenson, all of Amarillo; his first wife, Ollie Roles of Amarillo; his second wife, Carol Parker of Amarillo; his stepmother, Evelyn Wilder of Panama City, Fla.; and sisters, Maureen Laverty of Palm Beach, Fla., and Marianne Degrado of Panama City. Watson, 87, died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2002. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church Chapel with Dr. Travis Hart officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home. Mr. Watson was born Dec. 19, 1914, in Plainview. He served in World War II with combat engineers in Europe and the South Pacific. Survivors include a nephew, John Badley of Litchfield, Ariz.; and five grandnephews and nieces. Mr. Miller was a lifelong resident of Pampa before moving to the McLean Care Center in February 2001. He was a dairy farmer in Gray County and was a Baptist. Brent Farney, pastor of First Baptist Church in Stratford, officiating. Mr. Mires was born March 2, 1942, in Lubbock. He graduated from Lamesa High School in 1960 where he was a member of the state champion basketball team. He attended West Texas State University and earned a bachelor of science degree. He later attended the University of Arizona earning a master's and a doctorate degree. He began a career coaching at Dalhart and later in Canyon, Stratford and Spearman. He was most recently employed by the Highland Park Independent School District. He taught several years at the prison, preparing prisoners for their GED. He officiated football and basketball for many years. He was a member of the Amarillo Football and Basketball Officials Association and an official at the Texas State Track Meet. Survivors include a son, Allen Mires of Perryton; a daughter, Andrea Mires of Amarillo; a brother, Bill Mires and wife, Kay, of Stratford; three grandchildren; a nephew, Doug Mires of Oklahoma City; a niece, Mandy Mires of Hope Mills, N.C.; and a special friend Dottie Moody of Amarillo. Georgia St. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mrs. Standifer was born in Mississippi. She spent most of her adult life in Texas and was a longtime resident of Amarillo. She and her husband, Jim Standifer, were married in San Angelo just over 41 years ago. She suffered from a debilitating stroke three years ago. Before that she was a homemaker, a terrific cook and enjoyed painting and traveling. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jerry Wickham. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Sarah Jones and husband, George, and Carolyn Winans and husband, Bob; a sister, Esther Summers and husband, Chas; stepsons, Stevie Standifer and Mike Standifer; grandchildren, Michael Martin, Kimberly Martin, Johnny Johnson, Michael Johnson, Justin Johnson and Caitlan Standifer; cousins; and a special friend, Ola Mae Rice.
