Mrs. Waldie had been a resident of Pampa since 1999, moving from Amarillo. She was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Mr. Lewis was a farmer in Ochiltree County and a World War II veteran in the Marines. He married Kathleen Allen on Jan. 3, 1941, in Canadian. He was a member of First Christian Church in Perryton. He was a graduate of East Texas University and was on the All-American football team. He coached in Canadian, Tulia and Guymon. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen, in 1991; a son, Fred Lewis, in 1993; a son-in-law, Mick Reimer, in 2001; and four brothers, Albert, George, Harry and Earl. Gilean was born Feb. 10, 1977, in Billings, Mont., the daughter of Howard and Johnna Wood Newman. She lived in Torrington and worked as a merchandising representative for Wrangler. He served four years in the Navy, then had 17 years of service in the Air Force, eight of which were served in the Presidential Squadron. He retired after 22 years with the city of Amarillo serving as plant supervisor with the Water Reclamation Department. He was preceded in death by four brothers; and three sisters. Survivors include his wife, Millie; a son, Jeff Burgett and wife, Lisa, of Amarillo; three daughters, Elaine Nesbitt and husband, Jim, Michelle Cook and husband, K.C., and Jana Slaughter and husband, Bob, all of Amarillo; a sister, Neoma Pace of Skellytown; and 10 grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, Oct. 27, 2002 John Dennis Hooker John Dennis Hooker, 82, of Amarillo, died Thursday, Oct. 24, 2002. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with Doug Hooker, nephew, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Hooker was born April 25, 1920, in Stephenville. He worked for Furr Food, Inc., and in the beef packing industry. He was a veteran of the Army from February 1942 to December 1945. He was promoted to the rank of Tech Five at the time when he was wounded. He was awarded the silver star for bravery in action. Military honors are by Disabled Veterans, Chapter No. 26, in Amarillo. He was preceded in death by his wife, Arline; two sisters, Juanita Vaughn and Neva Ford; a brother, E.L. Hooker; a son-in-law, Larry Pinson; and a daughter-in-law, Laura Hooker. Georgia St., with Jim Loper, Pastor of Cornerstone Church in Borger, and the Rev. Terry Tamplen, of Kingswood United Methodist Church in Amarillo, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. McMillan served in the Marines during World War II. He married Billie Eldridge in Gorman on May 26, 1945. He then moved to Borger in 1951 where he retired from the Phillips Plant in 1964. He worked as a sales manager for Cooper Buick Pontiac for 17 years before retiring in 1982. He was a Mason and a Shriner and had recently been honored with his 50-year Masonic membership. He was formerly a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Borger and then moved to Kingswood United Methodist Church of Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Elaine Eason of Amarillo; a brother, Eldon "Corkey" McMillan of Brownwood; a granddaughter, Tammy Davis and husband, Justin, of Canyon; a grandson, Jonathan Eason of Arlington; and three great-grandchildren, Jacob, Kelly and Nicholas. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Fairview Cemetery of Gainesville with the Rev. Don Brennan, of Order of St. Augustine, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle, and George J. Carroll and Sons Funeral Home of Gainesville. Mrs. Vaeth was born in Gainesville, one of seven children born to Annie Pruitt Minnick and William Minnick. In 1927 she married G.H. "Jack" Little who was an attorney and had served five terms in the House of Representatives. They were married for 25 years until his death in 1952. She then married Herbert Vaeth in 1975, who was an oil and gas gager. He preceded her in death in 1982. During World War II she volunteered for the American Red Cross. She enjoyed theater and working in her yard. Survivors include a son, Jack Little of Amarillo; a daughter, Louise Kisselburg of Las Vegas, Nev.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday in Llano Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel with the Rev. Jeff Conway and the Rev. Alan Williamson officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Holman was born in Henrietta. She married Wade A. Holman in the early 1930s, a union that continued until his death in 1979 at the age of 87. Wade Holman's father bought the family land which is now owned by the Amarillo Country Club. Wade Holman was a life insurance agent for 58 years and a charter member of the Tri-State Senior Golf Association. Mrs. Holman was an avid golfer and reader. She was a resident of Ware Memorial and was loved and cared for by the Ware staff and residents. She was a longtime member of First Christian Church. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Suzanne Holman. Survivors include a niece, Mary Frances Murphy of Waco; four great-nieces, Carolyn McDonald of Plainview, Donna Barbour of Sunray, Donna Clark of Irving and Linda Smith of San Antonio; and special friends, Jim Whitlock and wife, Sue, of Amarillo.
