He married Erma Heinrich on June 1, 1943, in Slaton. Amarillo Globe-News, Nov. 22, 2002 Jack Hugh Wigham PANHANDLE - Jack Hugh Wigham, 100, died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2002. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Panhandle First Christian Church with the Rev. David Theel officiating. Private burial will be in Memorial Park Mausoleum in Amarillo by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors. Mr. Wigham was one of 12 children born to George W. Wigham and Sarah Belle Goins Wigham in Burkburnett on Jan. 18, 1902. He lived in Wellington until he moved to Panhandle as a teen-age pioneer to settle on a farm northeast of town. He married Lila Terry in Memphis on Oct. 28, 1923. They made their home in Panhandle until their three children were grown. Mr. Wigham operated a tin shop, a plumbing business and the GMC and John Deere farm implement dealerships. He was a well known member of the farming and ranching communities in the Texas Panhandle. Jack and Lila moved to Amarillo in 1954 and to Merced, Calif., in 1982. Mr. Wigham returned to Panhandle after his wife's death. He lived in Panhandle at Garretson's Retirement Home and St. Ann's Nursing Home until his death. Mr. Wigham received his 60-year Masonic Membership Pin from Carson Masonic Lodge No. 1167. He had been a charter member of First Christian Church of Panhandle since 1927. Mr. Wigham was always interested in the youth of the community. He contributed to and assisted many groups and individuals, including Cal Farley's Boys Ranch and the Panhandle School bands and athletic programs. He was an inventor and always had a magic trick to share with anyone he met. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1989; a son, Billy Jack in 1992; and nine brothers and sisters. Survivors include a daughter, Juanna Jo Bigelow and husband, Edgar, of Merced; a son, Biddy Mack Wigham of Kingston, Okla.; a daughter-in-law, Helen Wigham of Amarillo; two sisters, Ruby Harmon formerly of Panhandle and Georgia Belle McFarling of Austin; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews in the Panhandle. He was a farmer-stockman in Randall County since 1935 and was a hard-working successful member of the Jowell community. Mr. Gooch served on the Randall County Farm Bureau and the Consumers Co-Op board of directors. He was a member of First Baptist Church and served as a deacon for several years. He was a member of the R.N.&O. Sunday school class and served as the class secretary for more than 20 years. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Mildred; his parents; a brother; and his sisters.
