Mr. Woodard was born Aug. 13, 1915, in Seminole, the son of Estes and Ada Woodard. He was a retired independent paint contractor. Survivors include a son, John Woodard of Hereford; two daughters, Cleriece York of Tifton, Ga., and Jean Owen of Yantis; a brother, Thad Woodard of Mesquite; two sisters, Wanda Ray of Monahans and Rita Harrison of Harrah, Okla.; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Coffey was born July 21, 1919, in Johnson County. She married Grover Coffey on Oct. 13, 1941. Survivors include two daughters, LaVern English and LaVera Allen, both of Plainview; two sisters, Mozelle Webster of Chillicothe and Ruby Gregory of Fort Worth; seven grandchildren; a stepgranddaughter; and six great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, Nov. 25, 2002 Alma Louise Ward CLAUDE - Alma Louise Ward, 82, died Saturday, Nov. 23, 2002. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church of Claude with the Rev. Truman Ledbetter, pastor of First Baptist Church in Clarendon, and Edwin Campbell, of Clarendon, officiating. Burial will be in Claude Cemetery by Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon. Mrs. Ward was born Feb. 7, 1920, in Sonora, Sutton County, to Stacy Pinkny Glasscock and Rhoda Dollye Stokes Glasscock. She had been a resident of Claude most of her life. She had resided at the Palo Duro Nursing Home in Claude since June 2001 and considered the residents and staff her extended family. She married Jack Ward in December 1947. He preceded her in death on July 3, 1994. During her early life she was very involved in the activities of her children and was a longtime 4-H leader. She was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church in Claude. Casketbearers will be Stacy Don Ward, Roy Dale Cooper, Bryan Matthews, Doodie Tyler, Wayne Tyler and Jack Fields. Survivors include three daughters, Janet Cooper and husband, Johnny, of Clarendon, Beth Smith of Junction and Jackie Matthews and husband, David, of Amarillo; a son, Stacy Ward of Amarillo; two stepchildren, Patricia Bradbury and Jerry Ward of Kilgore; a brother, Roy B. Glasscock of Odessa; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. The body will be available for viewing today in Claude. He was a self-employed welder and was a member of the Travis Baptist Church. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Brown was born May 2, 1913, in Quitaque and came to the Pampa area in 1944 from McLean. He married Dora Mae O'Hair on Jan. 29, 1938, in Memphis. He worked on the Hayhook Ranch west of Pampa for 41 years and managed the ranch for 20 years, retiring in 1983. He was a member of Central Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Judy Rogers and husband, Joe, of Katy; two sons, Jimmie Brown of Austin and Rickey Brown and wife, Sharron, of Pampa; a brother, Frank Brown of Brandon, Ore.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Mr. Fixsen was born Feb. 29, 1928, in Goodland, Kan., to Harry and Edna Woldrum Fixsen. He served in the Navy in the South Pacific during World War II. He married Elizabeth Dawson in July 1952 and she preceded him in death in February 2002. Mrs. Landes was born March 22, 1948, in Anadarko to Wanda Margaret Miller and Leo Slater. She was thoughtful, gracious, talented and found great joy in sharing her gifts with others. Survivors include a daughter, Lisa Landes of Little Rock, Ark.; two sons, Greg Landes and Theron Landes, both of Guymon; her mother, Wanda Dodd of Anadarko; a sister, Linda Clinton; two brothers, Roger Slater and Ronnie Slater, both of Anadarko; and five granddaughters. Prayer services will be at 7:30 p.m. today in St. Hyacinth's Catholic Church. Mass will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the church with Francis Smyer and Pat Carathers as celebrants. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery with military honors provided by DAV Chapter 26. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Chavey was born in Cleburne on April 22, 1920. He attended high school and junior college in Greenville before making Amarillo his home and marrying Dorothy Lehman on July 1, 1956. He was known by friends and family as "Whisperin' Bill" and operated dry cleaning businesses under that name from 1959 to 1996. He was also a musician and had a combo band for over 35 years. He was a fourth-degree Knights of Columbus, on the board of the Musicians Union and had served on the St. Mary's School Board. He was also an Army veteran. He was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan. Through good and bad seasons he never missed a game. He was preceded in death by a brother, Frederick. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Dorothy; seven children and a stepson, Jill Nikoden and husband, Chuck, of Birmingham, Ala., Chris Altman and husband, Bobby, Sandy Peters, Linda Foster and husband, Buster, and Laura Heath, all of Amarillo, W.E. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Cole was born Sept. 27, 1934, in Quanah to Robert Wright and Earcie Choat Cole. He married Reta Chambers on Aug. 20, 1955, in Clovis, N.M. He and his wife owned and operated Ralph's Express Marts for many years in Hart and Olton. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hart. During his life he was always concerned about those in need. During each holiday season he would serve as Santa Claus for the elderly, the handicapped and those with special needs in Hart, Olton and Plainview. He was preceded in death by a son, Ralph Cole Jr.; his parents; a stepfather, Marvin Guinn; and a sister, Helen Turner.
