Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Church of God in Christ Jackson Chapel with the Rev. Henry Jackson, pastor, and the Rev. Melvin Tatum officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery by Wallace Funeral Home. Mr. Shivers was born Oct. 20, 1963, in Lubbock. He married Sherri Powell on March 21, 1987, in Tulia. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Shayla Shivers of Tulia and Sameria Smith of Floydada; a son, Terrance Powell of Tulia; his mother, Charlie Mae Shivers of Lubbock; two brothers, Michael Shivers of Lubbock and James Shivers Jr. of Dallas; five sisters, Patricia Shivers and Gloria Russell, both of Abilene, Demetria Shivers and Katrice Shivers, both of Lubbock, and Wanda Perry of Houston; and his grandmother, Jesse Mae Parker of Calvert. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Stratford Cemetery with the Rev. Mark Metzger, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Stratford, officiating. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mrs. Hudson was born April 21, 1919, in Iowa Park. She was a teacher for the Spurlock community. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Stratford. She married Rex Hudson on May 20, 1942, in Lawton, Okla. She was a resident of Stratford for 54 years. She was raised in Bushland. The family would like to send a special thanks to Memorial Hospital and Memorial Hospice in Dumas. She was preceded in death by her husband on Aug. 25, 1994; and two brothers, Ralph Austin and J.C. Austin. Survivors include two daughters, Sheri Rasmussen of Austin and Lisa Sykes of Alamosa, Colo.; three brothers, O.E. Austin Jr. of Houston, the Rev. Amarillo Globe-News, Nov. 28, 2002 Amarillo Rufus Leroy "Nick" Nickels Rufus Leroy "Nick" Nickels, 76, of Amarillo died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Pleasant Valley Baptist Church with Michael Carter, pastor of River Road Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Nickels was born in Bryan County, Okla., on Aug. 26, 1926, and he was raised outside of Bennington, Okla. He married Dorotha Mae Cobb on Nov. 11, 1945. Leroy farmed until they moved to Amarillo in April 1950. They were soon baptized into the newly formed Pleasant Valley Baptist Church and currently were members of River Road Baptist Church. "Nick" worked in the hardware business for Morrow-Thomas, Amarillo Hardware, Star Lumber, Nickels and Sons Hardware, McKechnie and Sons and Pride Home Center, where he still had a job upon his death. He had three great-grandchildren on the way. He was preceded in death by his father, R.L. Nickels in 1945; his stepfather, Bud Draper in 1983; and his mother, Lydia Nickels Draper in 1991. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Linell Carter of Amarillo, Charlotte Smith of Oklahoma City and Freda Nixon of Durant, Okla; a sister, Beatrice Knight of Durant; five grandsons; two granddaughters; six great-granddaughters; and three great-grandsons. He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1948. He served as a sergeant in the Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was employed by Santa Fe Railway for five years and retired from Texaco after 33 years of service. He married Rita Jo Mulkey in 1953. Mrs. Jenkins was born June 14, 1927, in Turpin, Okla., to George P. and Mary Clark. She married Franklin Daniel Jenkins in 1951 at Liberal, Kan. She graduated and received her nursing degree in 1946 from Wesley Nursing School in Wichita, Kan. She retired in 1993 from Abraham Memorial Nursing Home in Canadian as a registered nurse. She then moved to Amarillo from Canadian in 1993. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1980. Survivors include two daughters, Jan Jenkins of Amarillo and Jeri Jenkins of Seattle; three sisters, Carol Schmitzer of Liberal, JoAnn Allen of Oklahoma City and Ruth Koontz of Amarillo; and a grandson, Adam Jenkins of Amarillo. Mrs. Bunn was co-owner of Southland Battery from 1969 to 1988, when she retired. She was preceded in death by her husband on June 11, 1998, in Amarillo. After his military service, he came to Amarillo where he worked at the Gulf Service Station at Sixth Avenue and Fillmore Street. He worked at Shappell Vendors for a period of time and then worked for York Tire Co. for more than 50 years. Since 1995, he has been a house painter. He was a member of Forest Hill Missionary Baptist Church and had been a member of Palo Duro Masonic Lodge No. 1239 for 47 years. The family expresses deep appreciation for the Veterans Affairs Health Center medical team and Crown of Texas Hospice. Memorial services will be at a later date. Arrangements are by Cimarron Mortuary. Mrs. Sechler was born Oct. 20, 1913, in Guthrie. She married Virgil Sechler in 1931. Survivors include a son, Clarence "Chub" Sechler of Tucson, Ariz.; four granddaughters; and two great-grandsons. Amarillo Globe-News, Nov. 28, 2002 Elsewhere Thomas Marshall Brooks IRVING - Thomas Marshall Brooks, 89, died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Brown's Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. Mr. Brooks was born in Wellington to Pearl Starkey Brooks and J.W. Brooks in 1913. Tom and Gladys, his wife of 63 years, moved to Irving in 1965 where he was an investor in and officer of several business ventures, including Data Automation Co. and Brooks International. Later, in semiretirement, he operated a Realty World franchise in Irving and built and sold homes in the area. Prior to moving to Irving, he lived in Pampa, and later in Amarillo, where Mr. Brooks owned and operated an electrical contracting company, Brooks Electric. He was a member of Church of Christ and a former member of Kiwanis Club in Pampa and Irving. He was preceded in death by three sisters; and a brother. Survivors include two daughters, Meredith Parrish of Dallas and Kay Lynn Meadows of Irving; a son, Richard Brooks of Irving; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jackie Lisemby of Lubbock.
