Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in First Christian Church with the Rev. Barry Loving, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Cash was born Jan. 24, 1926, in Hamburg, Germany. She was a veteran of the Army from which she was honorably discharged. She married Duane Cash on May 9, 1952, in Fort Lee, Va. She had been a resident of Pampa since 1953. She worked as a sales clerk for Montgomery Ward. She was a longtime volunteer for Pampa Meals on Wheels, the Pampa Sheltered Workshop, the American Red Cross and the Coronado Healthcare Center until 1992. She was a member of First Christian Church, the Christian Women's Fellowship and the Lamplighter Sunday School Class. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Karli Nickell, in December 1984; and a grandson, Noah W. Cash, in August 2000. Survivors include her husband, Duane; a son, David W. Cash of Tres Piedras, N.M.; three daughters, Evelyn M. Farmer and husband, Curt, Dixie I. Mrs. Batson was born March 7, 1912, in Lelia Lake, Donley County. She was a Donley County resident most of her life and a resident of Clarendon from 1964 until moving to Waco and then Denton after her retirement in 1976. She was a public school teacher in Donley County schools in Windy Valley, Lelia Lake and then Clarendon for 44 years before her retirement. She married John Rice Batson on Dec. 24, 1932, in Clarendon. She was a member of the Clarendon Chapter Six, Order of the Eastern Star, the National Retired Teachers Association and a member of the Clarendon Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband on Jan. 11, 1964; a son, Ben King Batson; and two brothers. He married Josefa Gonzales on July 15, 1954, in Plainview. He was involved in farming and had lived in Sunray for 12 years. He loved baseball and also enjoyed playing his guitar. Mr. Holmes was born Oct. 1, 1978, in Haskell to Billy Thomas and Helen Mary Cadenhead Holmes. Coker on Aug. 11, 1929, in Hobart, Okla. He preceded her in death on June 12, 1997. She and her husband owned and operated Weldrite Welding Service for more than 40 years before selling it in 1984. She and her husband were avid bowlers, hunters and fishers. She was a member of Polk Street United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Delores Granger, in 1957; and a son, Edwill Denton Coker, in 1949. Amarillo Globe-News, Dec. 1, 2002 Lucy Lynch Lucy Lynch, 89, of Amarillo died Friday, Nov. 29, 2002. Vigil services will be at 7 p.m. Monday in St. Mary's Catholic Church. Mass will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the church with the Rev. Patrick Carathers as celebrant. Arrangements are by Schooler Funer Home, 4100 S. Mrs. Lynch was a wife, mother, grandmother, homemaker and South Florida community volunteer. She spent time in Texas since 1983 when her only child, a daughter, Kathleen (Kathy) married an Amarillo physician, Pablo R. Diaz-Esquivel. A native of Pittsburgh, she worked for the Pittsburgh and Miami Beach offices of A.G. Edwards & Sons. During World War II she worked for the United States Government overseas. While posted in Honolulu, she met an Army artillery officer from New York City, Captain Thomas Francis Lynch. They married at Hickman Field on Aug. 18, 1945. For most of her married life, she lived in Miami, Fla., where her husband was a teacher, principal and school superintendent. Known to her students as "Mrs. L" she was a dedicated homemaker, a licensed Realtor and a literacy tutor. Throughout her life, she maintained an avid interest in wellness and nutrition. She was also an active church volunteer. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Miami Shores, Fla. She was a member of the Legion of Mary and the Marian Center Auxiliary Board. She was also part of the Christian Charismatic Renewal movement in South Florida and an early supporter of the revival of Catholic television ministries. She played a significant role in the care of her mother, Lucy Swanson Thornton, when she lived next door in Miami and in Potomac, Md., at the home of her sister, Idamae and late brother-in-law, Colonel Joseph B. Yost. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom, in 1983; and a brother, Crate Timothy Thornton of Pittsburgh, in 1993. She will be laid to rest at St. Anne's with her husband; her parents, Lucy and Timothy Thornton; her brother; and a sister-in-law, Evelyn La Donne Thornton. Survivors include a daughter, Kathleen and husband, Dr. Pablo R. Diaz-Esquivel, of Amarillo; a granddaughter, Elizabeth of Amarillo; a sister, Idamae Thornton Yost of Washington, D.C.; two nieces and two nephews, Mary Evelyn Thornton Hopkins and Robert B. Osage, with Dale Bigham, pastor of Arden Road Baptist Church, officiating. Mrs. Hodan was born in Amarillo. She attended Palo Duro High School. After high school, she worked as a surgical technician for St. Anthony's Hospital in the early 1960s. In 1968 she became an auditor for the Holiday Inn and was transferred to Colorado Springs and Scottsdale, Ariz. She retired from Motorola in 1983. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Her utmost concern was keeping the peace in the family. Her love will be felt forever. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Juanita McEwan; and two brothers, Loney Stout in March and Tommy McEwan in May. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mrs. Simpson was born in Beaver County, Okla. She graduated from Panhandle State University in Goodwell, Okla., and received her registered nurse's degree from St. Anthony's Hospital in Oklahoma City. She moved to Amarillo in 1949 to work as a school nurse for the Amarillo Independent School District for a few years. She later worked for the school district as a school nurse for 20 years retiring in 1986. She was a registered nurse at St. Anthony's Hospital in Amarillo and established the Licensed Vocational Nurse's program at Amarillo College. She served as church organist for the Methodist church in Goodwell, Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church in Amarillo and for St. Stephen United Methodist Church from the church's organization in 1962 until she retired in 1982. She was a member of St. Stephen United Methodist Church and the Bridgebuilders Sunday School class where she played the piano from 1962 until 2000. She taught piano lessons for 10 years. She was a member of the W.S.C.S. and WMU and served on the worship committee at St. Stephen. She married Carl Simpson on Feb. 29, 1952, in Amarillo at Polk Street United Methodist Church. They were married 50 years and nine months. She was preceded in death by her father, William Arthur Gray; her mother, Zilla Biggers Gray; and a granddaughter, Misty Ann Simpson. Survivors include her husband, Carl; two sons, David Simpson and Daniel Simpson, both of Amarillo; a daughter, Deanna Henry and her husband, Dave, of Yardley, Pa.; a sister, Erva Rogers of California; and a grandson, Matthew Henry.
