She was known for her greeting card ministry and her kindness and generosity to all. She will be remembered by all those whose lives she touched and her steadfast faith in the Lord. Mr. Blackmore was born in Elk City on Nov. 19, 1919, and was raised with five brothers and two sisters in Canute; all deceased with the exception of Dorothy Bonny and husband, Elmo, who continue to reside in Canute on the original family farm land. After graduating from Canute High School in 1937, Scotty moved to the Oklahoma Panhandle to attend college at Panhandle A&M, where he met his wife of 61 years, Aline Osborn Blackmore. After 21/2 years at Panhandle, Scotty was called into the armed forces to served during World War II. Scotty received an honorable discharge on April 1, 1946, while receiving numerous service medals including a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. Scotty and Aline lived their married years in Texhoma, where Scotty served the community as Texhoma mayor during the 1950s and was city treasurer for 24 years. Scotty served on the volunteer fire department and continued his active membership in the Masonic Lodge as well as American Legion. He was a 59-year faithful member of First Christian Church, joining in 1943. He retired in 1985 from Panhandle Chevrolet and Implement Co. after 24 years of service. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Vicki Blackmore on Oct. 24, 2001. She was the daughter of Swedish immigrants. She met John T. Coggins in Austin and they were married on Dec. 22, 1933, in Austin. When they married, John was a student at University of Texas and Waldeen lived and worked in Austin. John worked for International Harvester. He and Waldeen lived in various cities and towns throughout Texas. They also made their homes in Topeka, Kan., and Chicago before settling in Amarillo in 1945. John and Waldeen were longtime members of First Baptist Church where Waldeen taught Sunday School and played the piano. Waldeen enjoyed sewing, hat making, gardening, cooking and playing her organ and piano. She was an avid fisherman. She was known for her kindness and generosity to her friends and neighbors. Waldeen will be remembered by all those lives she touched and for her steadfast faith in the Lord. She was preceded in death by her husband; a sister, Lilly May Hughes; her brothers, Kermit Skoog and Virgil Skoog; and a niece, Frances Boutlinghouse. Price Theresa M. Price, 82, of Amarillo died Wednesday, December 4, 2002. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with Bradley Gallambos of Olsen Park Seventh-Day Adventist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver. Mrs. Price was born March 9, 1920, in St. Agatha, Maine, to Victor and Delia Dufour. She married Thomas Virgil Price in 1946 at Colorado Springs, Colo. She retired in 1987 from St. Thomas Moore Hospital in Canon City, Colo., as a registered nurse. She moved to Amarillo in 1997 from Canon City. She graduated from Union College in Lincoln, Neb., and Loma Linda University in California. She was a member of American Physical Therapy Association. She loved to spend quality time with her family, read and she loved her Lord and Savior. She was a veteran of the Army. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1998. Survivors include a daughter, Judy Elliston and husband, Mike, of Panhandle; a son, John Price and wife, Ina, of Aurora, Colo.; two granddaughters, Amber Elliston of Panhandle and Kristen Price of Aurora; and three sisters, Lucille Dufour and Blanche Michaud, both of Yarmouth, Maine, and Louise Dufour of Virginia. The family suggests memorials be to Platte Valley Academy, Shelton, NE; or Mile High Academy, Denver, CO. He was 97 and died of natural causes. Chauncey was president of the testing service from its inception in 1947 until his retirement in 1970. During that period, he championed the use of the exam then known as the Scholastic Aptitude Test. "He hoped that it would make it possible for colleges and universities to admit people based on their merit rather than on their social or economic background by finding a standardized way to make judgments about people's intellectual abilities," said his son, Henry. Although the vision for a merit-based entrance system came from Harvard President James Bryant Conant in the 1930s, Chauncey provided the skill to make it happen. Under his guidance at ETS, the SAT became a powerful presence in academic life, fretted over by millions of anxious high school seniors desiring good scores to impress colleges of their dreams.
