Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in First Methodist Church with the Rev. Gary Smith officiating. Burial will be in Hansford Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman. Mr. Wysong was a commercial freight truck driver. He was a member of Methodist hurch in Spearman. He graduated from Spearman High in 1969 and worked for Plains Transportation. He was preceded in death by his father, Sam Wysong, in 1992; and his grandparents, Jesse and Dorothy Davis. Survivors include his wife, Wilma; two stepdaughters, Cheryl Varnam of Denver and Joyce Hawkins of Weatherford; two stepsons, Chris Kollmar of Duncan, Ariz., and Larry Daly of White Deer; his mother, Mary Lou Wysong of Spearman; three sisters, Pam Eckroat of Azle, Kay Cavin of Austin and Jan Williamson of Clinton, Okla.; three grandchildren; and seven nieces and nephews. Amarillo Globe-News, Dec. 8, 2002 Abraham "Abe" Latman Abraham "Abe" Latman, 88, of Amarillo died Friday, Dec. 6, 2002. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Llano Cemetery with Rabbi Jeffrey Laynor of Dallas and Steve Gens officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Latman was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on May 31, 1914, to Leo and Anna Latman. His only sister, Myrtle Rosenblith, preceded him in death. Mr. Latman graduated from Sammuel Tilden High School in Brooklyn with honors. He attended the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Okla., from 1933 to 1936 majoring in psychology. When his children were in college he returned to college and in 1962 earned a B.S. degree from West Texas State University and in 1965 earned a master of arts degree of economics from West Texas State University. He taught courses in economics and psychology at Frank Phillips Junior College in Borger from 1965 to 1975. In 1975 he passed the Texas Bar and became a licensed attorney in the state of Texas. He was one of the last persons to be allowed to study law in a lawyer's office and take the bar exam without having to go to law school. He passed the bar exam the first time he took it. From 1937 to 1980 he was president of Texas Pipe and Metal Co. in Borger. From 1950 to 1953 he was the owner of the Borger Gassers, a professional minor league baseball team in Borger. From 1950 to 1960 he was president of Electric Motor Exchange and from 1965 to 1976 he was president of Texas Air and Hydraulic Co. Abe Latman practiced law in Borger from 1975 until his death. In 1967 he became the president of the Texas American Life Insurance Co. Abe Latman also was certified as ground school instructor by the Federal Aviation Administration and was a licensed amateur radio operator with the call sign of W5OIIN. Abe Latman was an award-winning photographer whose photographs were exhibited all across North America. He was a skilled HO gauge train maker and a skilled gem cutter. Abe Latman moved to Borger in 1936 and was very active in civic, political and social events not only in the Panhandle of Texas but across the country. From 1956 to 1976, Mr. Latman was Hutchinson County Bond chairman for United States Treasury Bonds. Among the many citations and awards awarded to him by the U.S. Department of Treasury was the Minute Man Coin for Patriotic service in 1966. Since 1982 he had served on the Hutchinson County Juvenile Probation board and the Borger Housing Authority. He had served as co-chairman of the Ad Hoc Committee in Hutchinson County to determine the best disposition for the county hospital. In 1968 was elected president of the Texas Association of B'nai B'rith and in 1976 president of District Seven B'nai B'rith which covers seven southern states. In 1976 as a member of the International Board of Governors of B'nai B'rith. Since 1975 he had been on the board of directors of Leo N. Levi National Arthritis Hospital in Hot Springs, Ark. He had also served on the board of the West Texas Chamber of Commerce, the Lubbock Small Business Administration advisory board, Salvation Army advisory board, chairman of the United Fund drive and the March of Dimes drive. He married his college sweetheart, Rebecca Latman, in 1937 and remained married to her until her death on Oct. 10, 2002. Survivors include two sons, Judge Stanley Latman of Dallas and Dr. Neal Latman of Amarillo; a daughter-in-law, Lana Latman of Dallas; a brother-in-law, Joe Bauxer; grandchildren, Audrey Latman Gruber of New York, Candace Latman Baer of Houston and Brandon Latman of Los Angeles; a great-grandchild, Jett Kenneth Baer of Houston; and a daughter, Cary Spivey and husband, Michael, of Lewisville. Arrangements are by Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Sinclair was born in Hedley, to Joseph Riley Killian and Mary Alice Belcher Killian, and moved to Amarillo on Armistice Day, Nov. 11, 1918. She was a longtime resident of Amarillo. She graduated from Amarillo High School in 1936 and graduated from Amarillo College in 1938. She worked at Dixon Drug and was a cook at Amarillo College, where she went to night school and became a legal secretary for law firms in Amarillo. She retired in 1982 and moved to Aiken in 1995. Her husband, Joe Sinclair, preceded her in death in 1987, and she was preceded in death by a daughter, Anna Clarice Garrett, in 2000. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Lynn Weiss of Morgantown, W.V.; a son, James E. "Eddy" Taylor III of Aiken; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
