"Slim" Davis STINNETT - E.P. "Slim" Davis, 86, died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2002. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Brown's Chapel of the Fountains in Borger. Cremation is arranged by Brown Funeral Directors. Mr. Davis was a veteran of World War II, serving in the 222nd Army Rainbow infantry and receiving a Purple Heart. He was a retired maintenance employee for the city of Stinnett. Survivors include three sons, Don Davis of Downey, Calif., Ronald Stephen Davis of Costa Mesa, Calif., and Royce Lynn Davis of Lancaster, Calif.; a daughter, Kay Skinner of Taos, N.M.; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, Dec. 14, 2002 James Vance Reeves BORGER - James Vance Reeves, 58, died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2002. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Church of Christ in Borger with Richard Kasko, minister at Fritch Church of Christ, and Stan Mitchell, minister, and the Rev. L.K. Buck Lawley, of Perryton Church of God, officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Garden of Love under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors. Mr. Reeves was born in Hollis, Okla., on May 22, 1944. He has been a lifetime resident of Borger. He was a routeman for Frito-Lay and a member of Church of Christ of Borger. Survivors include his mother, Opal Reeves of Borger; his wife, Elizabeth Reeves; two sons, David Reeves of Amarillo and Darian Reeves of Panhandle; two brothers, Willard Reeves of Borger and Ricky Reeves of Fritch; two sisters, Betty Anderson of Joshua and Michelle Rodriguez of Borger; five grandchildren, Faythe Reeves, Cayley Reeves, Dathan Reeves, Barak Reeves and Jakan Reeves. Amarillo Globe-News, Dec. 14, 2002 Ted Buckland BORGER - Ted Buckland, 74, died Thursday, Dec. 12, 2002, in Amarillo. Services will be at 4 p.m. today in the Presbyterian Church of Borger. Arrangements are by Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors. Mr. Buckland was born April 24, 1928, in Elgin, Ill. He was a resident of Phillips since 1957, moving to the Bunavista area in 1980. He was in World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater for three years. He had a love for music. He played the trumpet for various bands. He played in the Khiva band for a couple of years. He worked with Little League baseball and was commissioner for Boy Scouts in Phillips. He was an elder of First Presbyterian Church of Borger where he had been a member since 1957. He retired after 37 years with Phillips Petroleum in exploration and production. After retiring, he continued to work out of his home as an engineering consultant and surveyor. He married Leah Caulkins in Bentonville, Ark., in 1952. He was preceded in death by his parents, Goldie Buckland in 1978, and Ted Buckland Sr. in 1981. Survivors include a son, Teddy Buckland of Stinnett; three daughters, Linda Lanier of Chicago, Sandra Buckland and Katie Buckland, both of Amarillo; a sister, Jean McCrary of El Cajon, Calif.; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Ms. Hughes was born Aug. 27, 1920, in Lakeview, the daughter of the late William Mack Henry and Ella Messer Hughes. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Memphis. Survivors include two brothers, Thomas Urbane Hughes of Lakeview and Rupert Mack Hughes of Plainview; two nephews; three nieces; and many friends. Burial will be in Shamrock Cemetery by Wright Funeral Directors. Mrs. Cantrell was born on March 23, 1924, in Shamrock. She married Royce (Bill) Cantrell on April 5, 1942, in Shamrock. She had lived in Shamrock all her life. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and a founding member of Shamrock Ex-Students Association. She was preceded in death by her husband on May 14, 1998. Survivors include two sons, Michael Cantrell of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Patrick Cantrell of Houston; two daughters, Mollie Davis of Dallas and Kathie Rushing of Shamrock; a brother, Sterlin Parish, of Shamrock; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Billingsley married Clark Billingsley on Dec. 13, 1936, in Morton, Texas. She opened a restaurant in Farwell, Texas, in 1960 and owned and operated Clara's Spur Restaurant in Texico from 1965 to 1980. Survivors include a daughter, Toni Betty of San Angelo, Texas; a son, Phillip Billingsley of Las Cruces; two sisters, Ethel Hines of Modesto, Calif. and Jo Worley of Riverbank, Calif.; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery by Brooks Funeral Directors. Mrs. Weaver was born May 12, 1946, in Fort Knox, Ky., to Corbitt and Mary Howitz Moore. She married Willie M. Weaver, a lifetime resident of Canyon, at St. George's Episcopal Church on Nov. 20, 1974. She had lived in the Canyon community since 1973. She received a bachelor of science in nursing from University of Colorado at Boulder in 1968 and attended Texas Woman's University in the pediatric nurse practitioner program in 1973. She received her master of educator degree at West Texas A&M University in 1976 and was invited into the National Honor Society in Psychology, Psi Chi Chapter. She also received her master of science in nursing from West Texas A&M University in 1980 and was inducted into the National Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau. She became board certified in 1993 as a medical and surgical nurse and in 1994 became a board certified diabetes educator. She received the Northwest Texas Hospital Excellence in Nursing award selected by the nursing staff in consideration of clinical skills, interpersonal relationships and professional integrity in 1994. Sharon had a special way of greeting everyone that lifted spirits and made your day more pleasant. Survivors include her husband; a son, Scott Russell Weaver of Denver; a daughter, Allison Leigh McDaniel of Dallas; her parents of Canyon; a sister, Linda Alvarado of San Francisco; a brother, Russell Ivan Moore of El Paso; and a special canine friend, Brandee C. Weaver. Arrangements are by Garnand Funeral Home. Mrs. Thompson was a Worthy Matron in the Order of the Eastern Star. She served as head librarian of Elkhart City Library and taught adult Sunday school. Survivors include her husband, Roscoe Thompson; three sons, Gary M. Amarillo Globe-News, Dec. 14, 2002 Oklahoma Florence Mae Lauderdale ALTUS, Okla. - Florence Mae Lauderdale, 85, died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2002. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in the Memorial Chapel of Kincannon Funeral Home with the Rev. David Chittenden officiating. Burial will follow in Restlawn Cemetery. Mrs. Lauderdale was born July 12, 1917, in Gainsville, Texas, to Ragsdale M. and Ella M. (Kuyendall) Hunter. She lived there five years and then moved to Ardmore. She and her family moved to Elk City, Martha and finally to Altus in 1932. She married Robert Williamson in 1936. Three children were born to this union. Florence and Robert were divorced in 1942. Florence was baptized in the Tabernacle Baptist Church by Brother Emboden in 1943. She went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. in November of 1946 and worked 32 years until her retirement on Dec. 15, 1978. Florence and Clyde Ray Lauderdale were married in 1947, and he preceded her in death in February of 1990. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Arthur Hunter and O.T. Hunter; and a grandson, Sammy P. Gaffney Jr. in October of 1963. Survivors include two sons, Eddie Williamson Sr. and Ollie Dean Williamson, both of Altus; a daughter, Patsy Gaffney and her husband, Sam, of Amarillo, Texas; a step-daughter, Beverly Snow and her husband, Bill, of Aurora, Colo.; eight grandchildren, Eddie Williamson Jr. and his wife, Christy, of Altus, Jimmy Williamson of Altus, Desarae Williamson, Casie Williamson, and Landon Williamson, all of Altus, Shana Rios and Staci Cade, both of Amarillo, Texas, Sean Gaffney of Lumberton; four step-grandchildren, Brenda Snow, Rhonda Snow, Glenda Snow and Billy Snow, all of Aurora, Colo.; 10 great-grandchildren, five step-great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.
