She married Jack Tucker on Nov. 16, 1935, in Hedley and they moved to Dimmitt in 1952. Mrs. Tucker was a retired bookkeeper and a member of First Baptist Church of Dimmitt. She was preceded in death by her husband on July 1, 1976; five brothers; and a sister. She was a member of Home Demonstration Club of Vega and First United Methodist Church of Vega. She was preceded in death by her husband in August 1984. The Detten family was completed with sisters, Marjie Heymer and husband, Larry, and Jaynie Cossabone, all of Amarillo; and brothers, Tommy Detten and wife, Leesa, of Amarillo, Jim Detten and wife, Joann, of Stanley, N.M., and John Detten and wife, Evelyn, of Battiest, Okla. Sherie was united with the love of her life, Mark Jackson, on Nov. 21, 1987, when they married in Amarillo. Into this union came their children, Andrew Jackson and wife, Shirley, of Aiea, Hawaii, Amanda Jackson and Matthew Jackson, both of Amarillo, and Angela Thompson of Friona; and her grandson, Christopher, born in 2000 to Matthew and Angela. Sherie worked with Mark for many years in their graphic art business and in the health care community in Amarillo, after completing her education at Amarillo College and West Texas State University. She loved her husband's family, Emmett and Edwy Jackson of Amarillo; and brother, Larry Jackson of Taegu, South Korea. She loved and cherished her family, her church family and a multitude of dear friends. She leaves her legacy of love to all these. Sherie was re-diagnosed with cancer in August 2002 and approached her transition and fate with the same courage, faith, strength and spirit that she lived with every day of her life. Sherie was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, daughter and friend. We will all treasure the memory and example of her love and we know that her journey through this life ended at the gates of heaven, where she looks for us to join her. She was a wonderful homemaker and a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Louise lived most of her life in Amarillo. She was employed at The American Quarter Horse Association and The Hollywood. Louise attended First Christian Church in Amarillo. She was preceded in death by a brother, Bill; and a sister, Vivian Clark. Burial was in Quay Cemetery. Mr. Latham was born Aug. 28, 1934, in Quay. He had been active in ranching in the Quay Valley until the time of his death. Amarillo Globe-News, Dec. 17, 2002 Vance Johnson LAKE LURE, N.C. - Vance Johnson, 90, formerly of Amarillo died Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002. Memorial services were Monday in Lake Lure. Mr. Johnson was born Aug. 20, 1912, in Memphis, Texas, to Hattie Johnson and James O. Johnson Sr. He grew up in the Texas Panhandle and graduated from Memphis High School and attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. Johnson was a journalist for Amarillo Globe-News. He had one book about West Texas farmers and ranchers during the Dust Bowl days entitled "Heaven's Table Land," published. He did some work for the Clovis newspaper and the San Francisco Chronicle and also a paper in Chicago. He was awarded a scholarship to Harvard University. He married Thelma Bagwell in 1931 in Amarillo. The couple later moved to Daytona Beach, Fla., and later moved to Lake Lure, N.C. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a sister, Chloe Whipple; and a brother, James O. Johnson Jr. Survivors include a son, Bill, of San Angelo, Texas; a daughter, Jeanine Noble of Lake Lure; a sister, Emma Jo Vaughn of Mount Pleasant, Texas; a sister-in-law, Opal Johnson Perry of Dumas, Texas; a niece, Janan Johnson Green of Stratford, Texas; and two grandchildren.
