Mrs. Morgan was a homemaker. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Survivors include a son, James A. Burial will be in Northlawn Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Goddard was born to Newsom and May Bonner on March 4, 1904, in Taney County, Mo., where she attended and taught school. She was a former longtime Dumas resident. On Sept. 7, 1930, she married Wayne Goddard in Clovis, N.M., when they made their home in Dumas. She was a longtime member of Sixth and Meredith Church of Christ in Dumas. She was also very active in Dumas Home Demonstration Club. Mrs. Goddard moved to Abilene in August 1991. She was preceded in death by her husband on April 12, 1987; and a grandson, Tim "Tye" Goddard. Survivors include three sons, Darrell Goddard of Houston, Vance Goddard of Abilene and Jim Goddard of Broken Arrow, Okla.; a daughter, Barbara McFarlin of Hobbs, N.M.; a brother, George Bonner of Springfield, Mo.; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Amarillo Globe-News, Dec. 19, 2002 Hiram Arthur Whitener WHEELER - Hiram Arthur Whitener, 78, died Monday, Dec. 16, 2002, in Tyler. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church with Dr. Toby Henson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home. Mr. Whitener was born Aug. 5, 1924, to C.A. and Altha Mae Whitener in Wheeler. He was a lifelong resident of Wheeler. He married Mary Elizabeth Barnes on June 20, 1969, in Amarillo. Mr. Whitener served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and was a retired postmaster in the post office in Wheeler. He was a member of American Legion, Masonic Lodge and First Baptist Church of Wheeler. He was a very gentle man with a loving heart and will be missed dearly by those who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Gordon Whitener and Herman Whitener; and two sisters, Novella Vanpool and Dealva Rhine. She died at home on Dec. 17, 2002, in Canyon. She married Raymond James Howell in Raton, N.M., in 1949. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. She was a longtime West Texas A&M Lady Buff supporter. She was a longtime resident of Amarillo and moved to Canyon in 2000. She was on several planning committees at Palo Duro Village Coop. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1997; a son, David Lee Howell of Amarillo in 1993; five brothers; and four sisters. He was married to his wife, Wanda Sherman Hickey, for 54 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bryce and Ada Hickey; a brother, Bryce Hickey Jr.; and a son, Joel.
