Mr. Sears was an administrator for the U.S. Agricultural Research Center in Bushland. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the Army. Survivors include a son, Jim Sears of Irving; two daughters, Janet Perry of Sunray and Jeri Sears of Mineola; two brothers, Joseph Don Sears of Artesia, Calif., and Roy Duane Sears of Winston-Salem, N.C.; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Mr. Shafer had been a resident of Clovis, N.M., for the past six months moving from Friona where he had lived since 1965. He was a cattle buyer. Burial will be in Memorial Park. Mrs. Daniels was born in Milam County on May 17, 1913, to Rufus Tim and Caroline Storey Bingham. She married Emmett Vernon Daniels on May 4, 1929, in Coleman. She was a member of Pentecostal Church of God, Christian Lighthouse and she was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1992; a son, Sam Henry Daniels in 1939; and her parents. Survivors include two sons, Rufus Daniels and William Lester Daniels, both of Amarillo; three daughters, Ruby Morris of Capitan, N.M., Katie Mae Smith of Roswell, N.M., and Fannie Stanton of Newcastle; three brothers, Walter Bingham of Brownwood, Preston Bingham of Amarillo and John Bingham of Stinnett; 14 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount. Mr. Peek was born in Clairmont and raised in Girard. He married Geneva Simmons on Jan. 1, 1939. She preceded him in death in 1987. He moved to Amarillo in 1947 from Plainview. He was employed at Continental Trailways as divisional superintendent for 44 years before retiring in 1983. He was past worshipful master of Palo Duro Lodge No. 1239 and past worthy patron of Eastern Star. He was also a member of First Baptist Church where he was a deacon. Survivors include two sons, Garland Peek and wife, Connie, of Alamogordo, N.M., and Richard Peek and wife, Becky, of Amarillo; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She had worked for the Amarillo Independent School District for five years. She was a homemaker. She married Sacarias Garza in 1957 at Tahoka. She was preceded in death by her husband on March 22, 1977. Survivors include six sons, Marcelo Prado, Benacio Prado, David Prado, Juan Garza and Isabel Garza, all of Amarillo, and Jesse Prado of Aurora, Colo.; three daughters, Alice Rodriquez, Margarita Gomez and Angie Duran, all of Amarillo; three brothers, Adolf Flores Jr. of Taylor, Jesse Flores of Grainger and Amilio Flores of Pflugerville; three sisters, Lupe Flores and Stella Ruiz, both of Amarillo, and Mary Flores of Morton; 33 grandchildren; and 51 great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, Dec. 22, 2002 Edgar McDaniel Wells Edgar McDaniel Wells, 77, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2002. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Andrew's Episcopal Church Chapel with the Rev. Clifton Mann, rector of the church, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mr. Wells was born in Dallas, moving to Hubbard as a young child. He graduated from there in 1942. He spent the next four years in the Navy during World War II and gained his commission in the Army through the R.O.T.C. program at the University of Texas in Austin. He graduated from the university with a bachelor's degree in journalism, specializing in advertising, in 1951. After working with Hart-Hanks newspapers for several years, he joined the staff of McCormick Advertising Company as an account executive in 1957. He became the advertising director for Pioneer Natural Gas in 1966 and the marketing and advertising director with Vibra Whirl Company in Panhandle in 1968. He returned to McCormick as the creative director, retiring in 1997. Many people in the community will remember him as a cartoonist and creator of characters. He was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church for 45 years. He enjoyed the Y.M.C.A., Tascosa Country Club and volunteering for Meals on Wheels. He married Evelyn Dotson in Austin in 1953. Survivors include his wife; a son, John Dotson Wells and wife, Melinda; a sister-in-law, Mrs. J.C. Wells and family of Memphis, Tenn.; a grandson, Michael Wells; a granddaughter, Sarah Wells; two cousins, John D. Ferguson of Galveston and Colbert Glenn of Waxahachie; and numerous nieces and nephews and many loved and dear friends.
