Gomez, 87, died Monday, Dec. 23, 2002, in Amarillo. Vigil services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Mass will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the church with the Rev. Guadalupe Mayorga, assistant pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Gomez had been a resident of Pampa since 1955. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Heraclia; three sons, Alfonso Gomez of Washington, D.C., Alonso Gomez of Atlanta, Texas, and Mike Gomez of Pampa; a brother, Matilde Gomez of Morton; three sisters, Concepcion Polanco of Presidio, Anita Carrasco of Bedford and Petra Sotelo of Chihuahua, Mexico; five grandchildren; and a great-grandson. The family suggests memorials be to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 810 W. 23rd St., Pampa, TX 79065. Amarillo Globe-News, Dec. 24, 2002 Melba Louise Leathers CLARENDON - Melba Louise Leathers, 80, died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002, in Amarillo. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Truman Ledbetter, pastor, and stepson the Rev. Richard Leathers of Dodd City officiating. Burial will be in Jericho Cemetery by Robertson Funeral Directors. Mrs. Leathers was born Jan. 24, 1922, in Lelia Lake, and had been a resident of Jericho and Clarendon in Donley County most of her life. She married Andrew Starland Brown on Dec. 24, 1941. She married Johnny Eugene Leathers in 1985. She was a homemaker and a member of Clarendon Chapter 6 Order of the Eastern Star and First Baptist Church of Clarendon. She was preceded in death by her first husband on Aug. 13, 1982; a son, David Brown in 1988; and a daughter, Linda Luttrell in 1994. Survivors include her husband; two stepsons, Richard Leathers of Dodd City and David Leathers of Amarillo; a sister, Dean Angel of Amarillo; two grandchildren, Heather Brown and Kevin Brown; and three great-grandchildren, Mathew Leathers, Timothy Leathers and Amber Leathers. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Parcell was born in 1919 in Wyoming. She worked as a bookkeeper for her uncle's plumbing company for many years. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Central Baptist Church in Pampa, Texas, with the Rev. Darell Monday and the Rev. Norman Rushing officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Pampa by Billings Funeral Home. Mrs. Gates was born Nov. 1, 1918, in Colbert. She was a longtime resident of Pampa before moving to Woodward in 2002. Survivors include a daughter, Carol Miller of Woodward; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Hob Hamrick of Denton, Texas, Nancy Barbee of Rogers, Ark., Melveta Barnes of Quanah, Texas, and Frances Lam of Pampa. The family suggests memorials be to Central Baptist Church Building Fund; or Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children in Dallas Travel Fund, and may be sent to the funeral home. Amarillo Globe-News, Dec. 24, 2002 Jimmie Ray Lowry HOLLIS, Okla. - Jimmie Ray Lowry, 88, died Sunday, Dec. 22, 2002, in Amarillo, Texas. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Hollis Church of Christ with Jeff Foster officiating. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery by Stewart Funeral Service. Mr. Lowry was born Sept. 9, 1914, in McQueen. He married Erlene Wilson on Nov. 4, 1935, in Hollis. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Gloria Hassan of California and Rickie Zoellner of Arizona; a son, Hubert Wayne Lowry of California; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Sadie Jo Buchannan of Oklahoma City, Nerva Jewel Sherman of Lubbock and Faye Gatlin of Taft, Tenn.
