Arrangements are by Seigler Funeral Home. Mr. Bearden was born March 4, 1915, in Red River County. He married Elsie Jordan on Dec. 26, 1940, in Lubbock. Survivors include a daughter, Pam Bearden of Paducah; a brother, F.W. Bearden of Lubbock; two granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren. Mr. Daniels was born Aug. 17, 1931, in Vernon. He owned and operated Daniels' Used Cars for 30 years. Amarillo Globe-News, Dec. 25, 2002 Dr. Millard Nobles Dr. Millard Nobles, 86, died Monday, Dec. 23, 2002. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. John Bethard officiating. Burial will be private. Arrangements are by Parkside Chapel Funeral Home. Dr. Nobles was born Nov. 1, 1916, in Plainview, the son of Claude and Hazel Nobles, and shortly afterward moved to Amarillo. He graduated from Amarillo High School and West Texas State University. He received his medical degree from Baylor University School of Medicine in 1942. Dr. Nobles married Wilma Williams on June 21, 1942, in Dallas, and they were married for 60 years. They moved to Hereford in 1946. He served in the Army during World War II as a major with the 82nd Airborne Division and was awarded the Silver Star. In May 1946, Dr. Nobles was co-founder of Hereford Medical and Surgical Clinic. In 1953, he completed post-graduate training in radiology at University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Medicine and at Parkland Hospital in Dallas. He became a diplomat of the American Board of Radiology. As planned, he returned to Hereford in 1954. During his active practice, Dr. Nobles supported Texas Tech School of Medicine as a distinguished associate in radiology. In 1988, he retired from Hereford Medical Clinic and in 1990, retired from active practice. Dr. Nobles was co-chairman for the founding of Hereford Day Care Center, was an active member and ruling elder of First Presbyterian Church of Hereford, a former director of Deaf Smith County Chamber of Commerce and was a member of Hereford Rotary Club. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Patti Watson and husband, Bill, of Midland; a son, Frank Nobles and wife, Sally, of Hockessin, Del.; and a granddaughter, Marcie Watson of Houston. The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity. Ms. Gravestock worked for Electrolux for 23 years. She moved to South Fork, Colo., in 1969 with Mary "Doug" Douglas. She was a member of Chapel of South Fork. She was preceded in death by her longtime special friend, Mary Douglas in 2000. Mrs. van Blommestein married Robert van Blommestein in Amsterdam, Holland, on July 2, 1958. She was a surgical nurse at the former High Plains Baptist Hospital and a member of First Christian Church. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Marella Cemetery with Lloyd Mattocks officiating. Arrangements are by Cimarron Mortuary. Mrs. McPeek was born Dec. 18, 1910, in Cimarron County. She was a homemaker and a mother. Survivors include a daughter, Phyllis Heath of Blue Springs, Mo.; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a step great-grandchild. Amarillo Globe-News, Dec. 25, 2002 Jimmie Ray Lowry HOLLIS, Okla. - Jimmie Ray Lowry, 88, died Sunday, Dec. 22, 2002, in Amarillo, Texas. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Hollis Church of Christ with Jeff Foster officiating. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery by Stewart Funeral Service. Mr. Lowry was born Sept. 9, 1914, in McQueen to Samuel Frank Lowry and Minerva Crosby Lowry. He married Erlene Wilson on Nov. 4, 1935, in Hollis. Ray was a farmer and lived in the Hollis area for more than 30 years. He retired from farming, and he and his wife moved to California where he became a custom upholsterer. They later moved to Amarillo, where they have lived since 1977. Ray was a member of Church of Christ and loved to garden, growing more than enough for his family so that he could give extra to others. He also loved to fish, play dominoes and teach his grandchildren how to do the things he enjoyed. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Cecil, Loy, Hubert and Dewey; a sister, Dollie Weightman; and a son, Jimmie D. Lowry. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Gloria Hassan of California and Rickie Zoellner of Arizona; a son, Hubert Wayne Lowry of California; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Sadie Jo Buchannan of Oklahoma City, Nerva Jewel Sherman of Lubbock and Faye Gatlin of Taft, Tenn.; and innumerable friends in Oklahoma, Texas, Missouri, California and Tennessee.
