Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Allison School Gymnasium with the Rev. F.R. Johnson, former pastor, the Rev. M.C. McDaniel, pastor, and the Rev. Roy Jones of Midland, officiating. Burial will be in Zybach Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home of Wheeler. Mr. Boydston was born Aug. 29, 1931, in Barber, Ark., to W.H. and Opal Brown Boydston. He moved to Allison as a young child. Mr. Boydston attended Allison schools. He married Velma Louise Harrison on Dec. 5, 1950, in Wheeler. He was a lifetime farmer and rancher. He also was employed by Parker Drilling Co. for 23 years, the last seven in international drilling, retiring in 1996. He served many offices in his church, Allison United Pentecostal Church, where he was a lifetime member. He also served on the Allison ISD board of trustees. He loved hunting and fishing and was a very devoted husband, father and grandfather. He loved his family very much. He was preceded in death by his father; and a daughter, Wanda Walker in July 2002. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Gary and wife, Julie, and Bennie and wife, Debbie, all of Allison; five daughters, Shirley Chadwick of Oklahoma City, La Quinta Hulse and husband, Mike, of Tucson, Ariz., Sue Martin and husband, Ernie, of Jones, Okla., and Cheryl Dupont and husband, Henry, and Kim Thompson and husband, Chuck, all of Allison; his mother of Allison; three brothers, Curtis Boydston, Vance Boydston and Forrest Boydston, all of Allison; a sister, Juanita Boydston of Allison; 22 grandchildren, Jonathon Walker, Justin Walker, Melissa Flemming, Melody Draper, Jeff Chadwick, Chris Chadwick Greg Boydston, Amie Boydston, Michelle Phillips, Michael Hulse, Jeremy Montgomery, Tim Montgomery, Kristi Montgomery, Adam Martin, Heather Boydston, Jason Boydston, Sabrina Dupont, Cody Dupont, Kimber Thompson, Brittany Thompson, Chase Thompson and Christin Thompson; and 13 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Nash was born Jan. 28, 1934, in Paducah. She married Burgess Jefferson Nash on Jan. 26, 1950, in Paducah. Amarillo Globe-News, Dec. 28, 2002 Herchel Whitener WHEELER - Herchel Whitener, 89, died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2002, in Vista, Calif. Mr. Whitener was born to Hiram and Flora Rape Whitener on May 23, 1913, on the farm in Kelton. Mr. Whitener married Vivian Viola Johnson on Dec. 23, 1933, in Erick, Okla. They had five sons and two daughters. Over the years he was a farmer, a carpenter and an oil field hand. On Nov. 26, 1962, he married Hortense L. Pittman Phillips in Odessa and resided there for many years. Mr. Whitener was a member of Second Baptist Church in Odessa and Trinity Baptist Church in Sun City Center, Fla. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Wayne; a sister, Lena; two daughters, Bonnie Sue and Bonnie Louise; and a son, James Andrew. Survivors include four sons, Glen Whitener of Carlsbad, Calif., H. Wesley Whitener of San Antonio, Donald B. Whitener of Flint, Mich., and Ronald E. Burial will be in Fort Smith National Cemetery. Mrs. Stroup was born June 19, 1920. She lived many years in New Mexico before moving to Oklahoma. There she was an active member of Eastern Star. After retiring from The Civil Service, she moved to Methodist Village in Fort Smith. In 2001, she made her home in Amarillo where she was president of the residents council at Elizabeth Jane Bivins Home for the Aged. Pallbearers will be Jerry Moore, Kenneth Moore, E.G. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Grace Lutheran Church in Morris, Ill. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Morris by Carl J. Mowell and Son Funeral Home. Mrs. Hoge was born Sept. 7, 1909, in Morris. She attended Joliet Conservatory of Arts in Joliet, Ill., and taught dramatic arts. She married Chester Hoge on June 15, 1930, in Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Morris. Prior to moving to Amarillo, Texas, in 1987, they resided in northern Illinois. Grace Lutheran Church was the church of her childhood and the major portion of her adulthood. She attended St. Paul's Methodist Church in Amarillo. She was active for a major portion of her life in church-related activities and civic organizations. She was preceded in death by her husband; four brothers; and her parents. Survivors include her son, George Hoge and wife, Marlene, of Plano, Texas; a daughter, Marlene Hudgins and husband, Jack, of Amarillo; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces. Mr. Rogers was born Dec. 10, 1968, in Arlington, Va., to Peggy F. Thompson now of Amarillo, and Jerry L. Rogers of Santa Fe, N.M. He was a 1987 graduate of McLean High School and a cum laude graduate in 1995 from Virginia Commonwealth University. Early childhood experiences in West Texas on the Bridwell Ranch, which was managed by his grandfather, and one particularly inspiring professor at VCU, motivated him to study archaeology and to obtain a master's degree in anthropology from University of Wyoming in 2000. An innovative and energetic thinker, Houston was in the early stages of a promising career with the National Park Service, from which his father had retired in 2000. He had participated in an archaeological study of the diet of 19th century enlisted men at Fort Laramie, now a National Historic Site, worked for Wyoming State Historic Preservation Office and participated in the archaeological survey at Pecos National Historical Park. At the time of his death, he was an archaeologist at Vanishing Treasures Program at Tumacacori National Historical Park, where he was developing a method for documenting preservation work done on adobe ruins and also monitored the effects of new construction on archaeological resources. Survivors include his parents and their spouses, Nancy M. Burgas of Santa Fe and David Thompson of Amarillo; a sister, Tiana Conklin and husband, Dale, of Leesburg, Va.; a brother, Jeffrey M. Rogers and companion, Lesley D. Arnott of Ashburn, Va.; his grandmother, Hazel Sifford of Amarillo; and five nephews and a niece in northern Virginia.
