Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday in N.S. Griggs and Sons Funeral Directors Pioneer Chapel, 2615 Paramount Blvd., with Hector Gallegos, deacon, officiating. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with the Rev. Francisco Perez of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Griego was born and raised in Gonzales Ranch, N.M. She moved to Amarillo in 1954 from Gonzales Ranch. Mrs. Griego married Floyd Griego in 1962 at Amarillo. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and the Guadalupanas. She was a homemaker, and a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jeannie Magallanes in 2001; and a sister, Elena Gallegos. Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Linda Cuellar and husband, George Jr., of Canyon, Trinnie Turman and husband, Chuck, and Jo Ann Aldaco and husband, Ramon, all of Amarillo; three sisters, Duvy Baros of Pueblo, Colo., Stephanita Martinez of Gonzales Ranch and Cecilia Gallegos of Las Animas, Colo.; three brothers, Basilio Gonzales of Gonzales Ranch, Tony Gonzales of Pueblo and Joe Gonzales of Amarillo; a son-in-law, Martin Magallanes Sr. of Amarillo; seven grandchildren, Martin Magallanes Jr., Sheila Lewis, Alicia Magallanes, Jessica Turman, C.J. Turman, George Cuellar III and Michelle Miller, all of Amarillo; and 11 great-grandchildren, Glory Magallanes and Rayna Magallanes, both of Hereford, Dakota Lewis, Chase Lewis, Holden Lewis, Keiyaun McGowan and Adrianna Turman, all of Amarillo, and Samantha Chappell, Alexis Cuellar, Valorie Cuellar and Nicholas Miller, all of Canyon. Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church with Monsignor Joseph Tash officiating. Burial will be in Llano East Cemetery with military rites by Disabled American Veterans Chapter No. 26. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Williams was born in Mosquero, N.M. He graduated from College Academy in Corpus Christi. He served in the Air Force for 10 12 years, including service during the Korean War. After his military service, he worked for the civil service at Fort Lyons, Colo., VA Medical Center. He retired in 1985 and moved to Amarillo. After moving to Amarillo, he volunteered full-time at the VA Hospital for 18 years. Mr. Williams was a very kind, gentle and compassionate person. His first love was Jesus Christ our Savior. He will be missed by all. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church. Survivors include his mother, Jewel Ellsaesser of Amarillo; a sister, Edwina Schlientz of Amarillo; a niece, Marcia Worley of Rowlett; a nephew, Tom Schlientz of Farmers Branch; two cousins, Sue Seeliger of Amarillo and Deanne Crittendon of Yukon, Okla.; two great-nephews, Zachary Worley and Matthew Worley, both of Rowlett. Mrs. Gilchrist was born Dec. 31, 1945, in Amarillo. She worked for the Potter County tax office for 20 years before becoming a Realtor. She attended Polk Street United Methodist Church. Hughes St. Mr. Burks was a native of Clarksville, and had been an Amarillo resident for more than 45 years. Survivors include three sons, the Rev. Georgia St. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Mary's Catholic Church with Monsignor Smyer and Monsignor Waldo officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Miss Rosser was born in Alexandria, La., on Dec. 12, 1907. She resided in Hale County, Plainview and Kress before moving to Amarillo in 1946. She had resided at St. Ann's Nursing Home in Panhandle since 1993. She worked at Vetesk and Merriman's grocery stores, and was a cashier at St. Anthony's Hospital cafeteria before her retirement. She was a longtime member of Business and Professional Women's Club, holding several offices and was selected as Woman of the Year. She was also a longtime member of St. Anthony's Hospital Auxiliary. She belonged to St. Mary's Catholic Church in Amarillo. Survivors include her nieces, Delores Miller of Clifton, Diane Young of Dallas, Rose Reddick of Huntington Beach, Calif., Carolee Townsend of Compton, Calif., Mary Mickelbart of Lawndale, Calif., and Emily Dowdy of Lakewood, Colo.; and nephews, Miller Maddox Jr. of Norman, Okla., Jack Rosser of Dallas, Jim Buhrkuhl of Big Spring, George Buhrkuhl of Flower Mound and David Buhrkuhl of Tyler. Private graveside services were at Green Hill Memorial Gardens in Sapulpa, Okla., by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mrs. Castleman was born Jan. 11, 1916, in Carrollton, Ga. She had been a resident of Pampa for 50 years. Survivors include a stepdaughter, Kay Castleman of Apache Junction, Ariz.; and a sister, Betty Bartlett of Oklahoma City. Amarillo Globe-News, Jan. 7, 2003 Canyon Marjorie May Lawley Tennison Marjorie May Lawley Tennison, 82, of Canyon died Monday, Jan. 6, 2003. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Dreamland Cemetery with the Rev. David Crump, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Canyon, officiating. Arrangements are by Holley Funeral Home. Mrs. Tennison was born June 15, 1920, in Walker, Okla. She was the youngest of six children born to Mamie and Joe Lawley. All have preceded her in death. Her family moved to Canyon in 1937. During World War II, she worked in a defense plant in California. After the war she moved back to Texas and worked at Woolworth in Amarillo. She loved fishing and raising a vegetable garden. Marjorie was a Southern Baptist and taught Sunday school for more than 30 years. She married in 1950. Marjorie lived a full and happy life filled with children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Grandma will be deeply and greatly missed. Survivors include her three adopted sons, Michael, Ronnie and Walter; and a daughter, Connie Starkey of Canyon. He worked for Clayton Police Department and Union County Sheriff's Department for 25 years.
