Ormson, 82, died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2003. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Ronald Rhoads, evangelist and grandson-in-law of Lewisville, Dr. Kerry Ormson, Mr. Ormson's son, Joe Janeway and the Rev. Robert Hensley of the church officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Pampa by Brown Funeral Directors. Mr. Ormson was born in Monroe County, Wis., on Nov. 19, 1920. After enlisting in the military, he was stationed at Pampa Army Air Field as a staff sergeant in Texas. In 1943, Don married Jean Harrison in Pampa. In 1945, he was sent to India for a tour of duty. After the end of World War II, Don returned to Pampa to raise his family. In 1952, the Ormsons moved to Borger. Don worked at Coronado Drug until 1955, then he entered the office supply field. From 1956 to 1967, he was the manager of Borger Office Supply. Afterward, Don became associated with Jim Hess Printers and Stationers. In 1980, he and his wife, Jean, operated Ormson Office Supply until his retirement in 1985. Don was a member of First Baptist Church of Borger since 1952, serving as a deacon, Sunday school teacher and a choir member. He also served the Panhandle area as a member of Gideon's International for 48 years. As a member of Rotary International, Don served as past president of the Borger club as well as chairman of the many committees for civic projects. He was a member of the China/India/Burma Reunion Fellowship of those who served in the military in those countries. He was preceded in death by his wife; three brothers, Archie, Orville and Benny; and a sister, Olga Knutson. Survivors include a son, Dr. Kerry Ormson and wife, Nancy, of Amarillo; a daughter, Judy Springfield of Irving; a sister, Eleanor Thompson of Kendall, Wis.; a niece, Jerrie Biggers of Pampa; a nephew, Bobby Brazil of Pampa; six grandchildren, Zane, Torrie, Jon, Kris, Amber and Russell; and four great-grandchildren, Taylor, Joshua, Kaitlyn and Nicholas. Pallbearers include, Verlie Deaton, Ronald Raff, Al Bierman, Gerald Cornelius, Art Taylor, Vance Brown, Jim Hess and Ed Biggs. Honorary pallbearers include members of Borger Gideon's International, Borger Rotary Club and Bill Willard's Sunday School Class. The family suggests memorials be to Gideons International, P.O. Mr. DeShazo was born Dec. 30, 1934, in Grayson County, the son of James Otto DeShazo and Vera Beatrice Pangle DeShazo. He graduated from Childress High School and completed several college courses in construction, real estate and related subjects. He served with the Army from 1957 to 1959 as a radio-teletype operator and crypto team chief. He moved to Amarillo from Lubbock in 1962. Mr. DeShazo was in construction, real estate and marketing for more than 35 years. He was a self-employed builder and developer in business as DeShazo Homes from 1970. Prior to his retirement, he supervised construction of more than 350 private dwellings and several light commercial properties. He was a member of First Baptist Church, member of board of directors and former president in 1977 of Texas Panhandle Builders Association, a director and alternate director of Texas Builders Association and National Association of Home Builders. As a Mason, he was a member of Palo Duro Lodge No. 1239, Khiva Shrine and Scottish Rite. Following retirement from the building business, he became active as a ham radio operator and held general, advanced and extra class licenses. He married Sue Marie Findt in 1954 at Tahoka. He was preceded in death by his first wife in 1988; his parents; and a brother, Rockne in 1994. Survivors include his wife, Betty; and a sister, Juana Turner of Albuquerque, N.M.
