Mrs. Bonner had lived in the Shamrock area since 1922. She had worked as a cook at several local restaurants and Shamrock Hospital. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday in Lane Memorial Cemetery in Sunray by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mrs. Stavlo was born Oct. 15, 1913, to Vlasta and James Bishop in Guymon, Okla. She was a homemaker. She moved to Sunray in 1957 and had been a longtime member of Sunray Methodist Church. She then moved to Dumas in 1994 and became a member of Hunt Memorial United Methodist Church in Dumas. She married Oscar Stavlo on Aug. 5, 1934, in Texhoma, Okla. She was preceded in death by her husband on Feb. 25, 1995; and a sister, Evelyn Plunkett. Survivors include four sons, James Stavlo and wife, Linda, of Buda, David Stavlo and wife, Diane, of Dumas, Donald Stavlo and wife, Janet, of Sylmar, Calif., and Robert Stavlo and wife, Sandra, of Sunray; a daughter, Ruth Jones and husband, Leo, of Mesquite; a sister, Margaret Barrow of Amarillo; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. The family will be at 1626 Lewis St. Amarillo Globe-News, Feb. 6, 2003 Charles Edward Blackburn Sr. CLARENDON - Charles Edward Blackburn Sr., 77, died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003, in Amarillo. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First United Presbyterian Church with Don Stone of Clarendon and Rick Massick, minister, officiating. Masonic graveside rites and burial will be in Citizens Cemetery by Robertson Funeral Directors. Mr. Blackburn was born Jan. 20, 1926, in Tasco, Kan., and was a resident of Armstrong County before moving to Clarendon in 1944. He married Gladys Marie Hardin on March 2, 1944, in Goodnight. He was a farmer most of his life, and was a deputy sheriff in Donley County for 15 years before retiring. He was a 50-year member of Clarendon Masonic Lodge No. 700, Royal Arch Masons, Royal and Selected Master Masons and Order of the Easter Star Chapter 6. He was also a member of Knights Templar, and was a Cub Scout Pack Leader for 13 years and assisted with Boy Scout campouts and projects. He was a member of First United Presbyterian Church in Clarendon. He was preceded in death by his parents, J.C. and Elsie Faye Hoover Blackburn; and a brother, Robert I. Blackburn in 1993. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Marie Risley of Amarillo and Tammy Spivey of Ralls; a son, Charles E. "Butch" Blackburn Jr. of Clarendon; a brother, William O. Mrs. Seitz was a deputy tax collector for Gray County for many years. She was a member of First Baptist Church. Amarillo Globe-News, Feb. 6, 2003 Amarillo Fred M. Duncan Fred M. Duncan, 80, of Amarillo died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St., with the Rev. Troy Richardson officiating. Burial will be in Claude Cemetery in Claude. Mr. Duncan went home to be with the Lord on Feb. 4. He was born April 14, 1922, and raised in Alvarado. He had been an Amarillo resident since 1948. He served in the Navy during World War II. He attended North Texas Teachers College in Denton. Mr. Duncan began his career by owning and operating a service station, and held several positions with Mason and Hanger. In the 1960s, he purchased a Ford dealership in Earth. He retired in the 1980s. He was a lifelong member of First Methodist Church in Alvarado. He was a man filled with laughter and had a great sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Mr. Duncan married Nita Walker on July 9, 1955, in Panhandle. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Ron Duncan and wife, Jackie, of Lewisville and Todd Duncan of Amarillo; a daughter, Lisa Pelletier and husband, David, of Keller; three granddaughters, Alysee Pelletier, Erica Pelletier and Madison Pelletier, all of Keller; a brother, John T. Bell St. Mr. Cole was born April 20, 1954, in Amarillo. He graduated from Tascosa High School and received his bachelor's degree in English at West Texas State University. He worked as a caregiver in the health care industry all his life. An avid reader, his collection of thousands of books is being donated to a local school. Place in 1998 in Amarillo. Mrs. Place owned Tops & Bottoms, and later worked for Special Effects beauty salon prior to her retirement. She was a member of Southwest Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Henry Colvert in 1993; and a sister, Eloise Owens in 1998. "Bill" Karstens, 86, of Amarillo died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St., with the Rev. Marty Hamrick officiating. Private family burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery in Canyon. Mr. Karstens was born Aug. 26, 1916, in New York City, Staten Island, N.Y. He lived in many parts of the country including New York City, Vale, Ore., Louisville, Ky., Waco and others. He received a law degree from University of Michigan, where he also played on the varsity Wolverine football team. He worked for Standard Oil in NYC, Western Union, as a traffic manager for Montgomery Ward, and as a marketing and retail trading stamp executive for many years. He was president of Affiliated Mercantile Inc. in Amarillo from 1976 to 1986. He retired in 1986 and served as a consultant for marketing and sales promotion activities. He held leadership roles in many domestic and international marketing and sales promotion organizations. He was most notably president of Association of Retail Marketing Services from 1983 to 1984. Mr. Karstens moved to Amarillo in 1976 and was married to his wife, Carol, on July 23, 1977, in Canyon. Survivors include his wife; four children, Gayla Britten, Kent Homer, Gina Mayfield and Vince Homer, all of Amarillo; and eight grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, Feb. 6, 2003 Canyon Lloyd Q. Johnson Lloyd Q. Johnson, 75, of Canyon died Monday, Feb. 3, 2003. Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Clark Williams, pastor, Susan C. Meredith and Michael J. Decker, pastor, officiating. Burial will be private. Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Directors. Mr. Johnson was born Nov. 24, 1927, in Wheeler, to Orville and Mary Hubbard Johnson. He received his bachelor's and master's degree from West Texas State College from 1945 to 1949, and served for a short time in Naval Reserve at WTSC. He taught and coached at Canyon High School from 1949 to 1951 and then taught and coached at Stephen F. Austin in Amarillo from 1951 to 1961. For five summers he was a brakeman on the Santa Fe Railroad. In 1961, he moved to Farmington, N.M., where he coached and taught until his retirement in 1988. During this time, he was on the legislative committee for National Education Association and was president of Goat Association. He returned to Canyon in 1990 and married Betty Brown Phillips on March 8, 1991, in Albuquerque, N.M. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Canyon, Crusaders Sunday school class, and a member of Canyon Senior Citizens. Amarillo Globe-News, Feb. 6, 2003 Oklahoma James Edward "Jim" Lancaster GUTHRIE, Okla. - James Edward "Jim" Lancaster, 75, died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2003, in Wagoner. Memorial services will be at noon Saturday in Lazy E Arena in Guthrie. Arrangements are by Shipman Funeral Home. Mr. Lancaster was born to James J. and Naomi Needham Lancaster on Oct. 23, 1927, in Ringling. Jim moved to Wagoner a year ago from Morse, Texas, where he resided for more than 20 years. He was an avid cowboy and rancher and lover of the rodeo circuit. Jim was a gold card member of the Pro-Rodeo Cowboy Association. Jim recently retired in 2002 and he was known by his fellow cowboys as Jim "Scatter" Lancaster. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Patsy Rutherford of Blanchard; two sons, Mike Lancaster and wife, Nancy, of Rockwall, Texas, and Mark D.
