Services will be at 2 p.m. today in United Methodist Church of Higgins with Jerry Don Cheshire, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Higgins Cemetery by Mason Funeral Home of Shattuck, Okla. Mrs. Goettsche was born in Channing on Nov. 17, 1923, to Clyde and Helen Danner Messenger. She attended Middle Well School, Dumas High School and Draughon's Business College. She and Carl Goettsche of Higgins were married on April 23, 1942, in Lubbock. Following World War II, they spent the rest of their lives in Higgins. Although Mrs. Goettsche kept very busy with her involvement in the church and community, most of her time and talent was spent being a wife and mother. She was totally devoted to her husband and children. After her children were raised, she enjoyed painting, sewing, quilting and reading. She was preceded in death by her loving husband in October 1976. Survivors include a son, Mark and wife, Rita, of Sugar Land; a daughter, Diane Williams and husband, Joe Bob, of Amarillo; three grandchildren, Penny Rodgers of Artesia, N.M., Ginger Hayden of Austin and Nickolas Goettsche serving in the Air Force in England; and two great-grandchildren, Thomas Goettsche of Sugar Land and Caed Rodgers of Artesia. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Grace Fellowship Church with the Rev. Rickey Griffin, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors. Mrs. Baber was born July 19, 1919, in Hiattville, Kan. She married John C. Baber on Aug. 5, 1936, in Fort Scott, Kan. She was a resident of Fritch for 38 years. After living in Abilene for a short while, she moved back to Borger where she lived at the time of her death. While living in Borger, she attended First Baptist Church and Grace Fellowship Church. A lover of children, she helped her husband with Kids, Inc. basketball and the Small Fry Fishing Tournament. She also helped to organize the Golden Eagles. Mrs. Baber taught Sunday school for many years. She was best known for her sweet spirit and the love she showed her family and friends, as well as her wonderful sense of humor. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents, Horace and Elizabeth Wheeler; and her brother, Fay Wheeler. Survivors include four daughters, Kathleen Moses and husband, Jim, of Los Fresnos, Janice Larry of McKinney, Lea Ellen Minton and husband, Jake, of Borger and Lorie Bradshaw and husband, Roger, of Allen; 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Lorene Wheeler of Nepler, Kan.; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Samuelson was born Jan. 14, 1912, in Granger, to David and Lou Katie Lindeman Blanton. She attended high school in Panhandle and Canyon and attended West Texas State University. She married Otto Samuelson in Clovis in 1932. After growing up on her father's farm north of Canyon, she and her husband were in business in Canyon for many years. She was retired from WTAMU Bookstore. She was a member of Eastern Star and First United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1986. Moore ROCKDALE - Luther C. Moore, 84, died Friday, Feb. 7, 2003, in Austin. Services were at 2 p.m. Monday in Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home with the Rev. Glenn Pipes of Meadowbrook Baptist Church and the Rev. Calvin Springer officiating. Mr. Moore was born April 23, 1918, in Hoover to William and Rosa Southern Moore. After graduating from Tulia High School in Tulia, Luther enrolled at West Texas State Teachers College in 1938 and graduated with a bachelor's degree in 1941. While in his senior year, he registered for the military draft for World War II and eventually served with the Army Air Corps from October 1942 to January 1946, in the European Theater on the Ascension Islands. After his discharge, he worked five years as a chemist but during this time, he attended night school to learn to be an electrician. Luther worked as a union electrician for 34 years and was a member of The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for 50 years. Luther made his home in Amarillo from 1950 to 1971 and later moved to Rockdale, where he met and married Bernice Jackson Caffey on March 12, 1998, in Rockdale. Luther was a member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church and Thorndale VFW. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Patricia Lynn Wolfe; three brothers; five sisters; three half-sisters; and a half-brother. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Mark L. Moore and wife, Rogena, and David J. Georgia St. Mr. Benson was born in Oklahoma City. He graduated from Perryton High School in 1968 and graduated from Wayland Baptist University. He married Brenda West in Amarillo on June 8, 1985. He worked for Southwestern Public Service in Amarillo for 21 years. In his 35 years as a minister, he served as associate pastor at San Jacinto Baptist Church. He was currently senior pastor at First Baptist Church in Halfway. He served as president of Caprock Baptist Association in Plainview, and was currently serving on the board of the Living Water Emmaus Community. He was a wonderful Christian, husband, father, brother and Papa. He will be dearly missed by his many Christian friends and family. He was preceded in death by a grandmother, Ella Benson in 1988; his father, Botie Benson in 1989; and A.E. and Louise Coury. During World War II, she helped with the war effort by working in an aircraft factory as a riveter. She also was a singer with the Tommy Dorsey Band. She devoted her life to her family. She was a very devoted mother and caregiver. Survivors include a daughter, Lynette Williams of Amarillo; two brothers, Walter S. Cook of Stockton, Mo., and John E. Amarillo Globe-News, Feb. 11, 2003 George Martin Bonin George Martin Bonin, 77, of Amarillo died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2003. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors Bell Avenue Chapel, 5400 S. Bell St., with Tim Reid officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Bonin was born July 15, 1925, in Winkler, Kan. His parents, Martin George and Matilda Friedericke Kneemeyer Bonin immigrated from Wattenschied, Germany, in 1909. He had seven sisters and a brother. Mr. Bonin served his country in the Army as a military policeman in World War II. He guarded, processed and escorted German POWs to Europe. He was honorably discharged on June 30, 1946. He married Johnnie Brooks on Sept. 22, 1945. After his discharge from the service, they lived in Fort Worth where he attended Texas Christian University and worked for Mrs. Baird's Bakery. He left Mrs. Baird's in the early 1950s and went into personal production in the insurance industry. He led numerous companies in sales production. In 1965, Mr. Bonin moved to Amarillo and married Margret Isom on June 25, 1966. Mr. Bonin established Bonin Insurance Agency in 1972. It has become one of the largest senior market agencies in the region. His generosity, kindness, strength and humor will always be remembered. He was looking foward to the birth of his first great-grandchild in July. The family would like to thank Crown of Texas Hospice and Goodcare Services for their professional care. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margret on Aug. 16, 2001.
