Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Bruce Howard, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. in East Mound Cemetery in Matador by Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon. Mrs. Harmon was born March 5, 1933, in Dickens County. She had lived in Borger for five years before moving to Hedley in 1984. She married Lonnie Murl Harmon on Aug. 19, 1950, in Carlsbad, N.M. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Wayne Harmon on Oct. 18, 2001. Survivors include her husband; a son, Tommy L. Harmon of Amarillo; four granddaughters, Karen R. Tucker and Samantha A. Miss Benson was born Aug. 11, 1963, in Amarillo. She was a Dumas resident since 1979. She graduated from Dumas High School in 1981. She was in the last semester of nursing school. She was an inspiration to many and loved by all who knew her. She will be missed dearly by all those she touched. She attended First Baptist Church of Dumas. Mrs. Schulte was born Dec. 11, 1919, in Slaton. She married Joseph Schulte on July 10, 1943, in Hereford. Georgia St. Mr. Rice graduated from Allison schools in Allison. He married Jackie Brooks in Sayre, Okla., on Sept. 23, 1942. He served in the Army during World War II in Germany. He worked for the Texaco refinery for 13 years. He owned Rice Marine from 1965 to 1977. He also ran a farm and ranch all of his life. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Brown; and a brother, Herschell Rice. Survivors include his wife; three grandchildren, Tamra Berry and husband, John, Scott Brown and wife, Traci, and Nic Brown; and three great-grandchildren, Mak Berry, Te Berry and Brandi Brown. Amarillo Globe-News, Feb. 19, 2003 Ruby F. Smith Ruby F. Smith, 89, formerly of Amarillo, died Monday, Feb. 17, 2003, in Canyon. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with Jerry Davey, pastor of Pleasant Valley Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Smith was born Jan. 17, 1914, in Amarillo, to Quincy and Minnie Ford. She grew up on a farm three miles north of Amarillo. Her father later sold the land, which became a subdivision of Amarillo, known as Pleasant Valley. Ruby married William Raymond Smith on June 13, 1936, in Pleasant Valley, a marriage that lasted 48 years until his death in 1984. She attended Amarillo College in 1933, then attended a music course at Washington University in St. Louis, Mo., where she received a teaching certificate. She was a member and pianist at Pleasant Valley Christian Church, where she met and married her beloved husband. She and Raymond joined First Christian Church in Amarillo, where she continued to play the piano for her Sunday school class until 1989. They embraced a deep Christian commitment and established a home built on Christian values. She taught piano in her home until 1951 and enjoyed making ceramics, flower gardening and sewing. Survivors include two daughters, Carol Veazey and husband, Ben, of Snyder, and Kay Frakes and husband, J.D., of Happy; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. Steele was a 20-year veteran of the Navy, retired chief petty officer. He worked for the Atomic Energy Commission, later for Mason and Hanger at Medina Base, San Antonio and Pantex in Amarillo. After retirement he worked as a contract mail carrier. He was a 45-year member of the Fleet Reserve Association. He was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Julia in November 2000. Survivors include a daughter, Diana Warren of Amarillo; a son, Tommy R. Amarillo Globe-News, Feb. 19, 2003 Clyde "Lee" Ford Clyde "Lee" Ford, 63, of Amarillo died Sunday, Feb. 16, 2003. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Rector Funeral Home Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St., with Joe Jernigan, pastor of Calvary Christian Fellowship Church of Shamrock, and Charlie Floyd, pastor of First Baptist Church of Texola, Okla., officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in Shamrock Cemetery in Shamrock with military rites by the Army. Mr. Ford was born in Texola. He moved to Amarillo in 1985 from Colorado Springs, Colo. He served in the Army during the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was a helicopter pilot in Vietnam. He retired from the Army as a captain in 1980 after 23 years of service. After his retirement from the Army, he worked as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service Ross Street Station. He was a life member and past commander of the VFW Post No. 1475. He was also a member of American Legion, DAV, VVA and Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Association. He married Carmen Newman in 1961 at Wheeler. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Karen Orthengren and husband, Alan, of Amarillo; a sister, Jurl Dene Roberts of Shamrock; two brothers, Bennie Ford of Wheeler and Earl Ford of Clarendon; and two grandsons, Corey Orthengren and Trey Orthengren, both of Amarillo. Arrangements are by Harvey-Young Funeral Home of Crawfordville. Mr. Burnett was born in Goodnight, Texas, and lived most of his life in Amarillo, Texas. He was a retired biochemist and an Army Air Corps veteran. He was a master gardener at Wakulla County Extension Office. He was a part-time ranger at Bald Point State Park. He moved to Alligator Point in 1991. Survivors include his wife, Elaine; a son, Bill Burnett and wife, Nancy, of Amarillo; a sister, Bonnye Burnett of Dallas; and two grandchildren, Rob Burnett and Jessica Burnett, both of Amarillo.
