Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Forest Hill Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Walter Ellis officiating. Arrangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mr. Hall was born in a sod house on the plains of Nebraska on July 30, 1915, to Frank Bish Hall and Leona Bower Hall. He grew up on a farm seven miles south of Lamar, Neb. His family was a farming family that included his siblings, Glen, Keith, Cecil, Bernice, Eddie and Doris. In the 1920s, he toured the Northwest by train and then moved home to help with the family farm. In 1940, he met a school teacher named Odie Lee Foster, and later married her in March 1941 in Lamar. He worked as a welder in the shipyards at Battle Ground, Wash., before serving his country in World War II in the Navy. Upon returning from World War II, Vinton started working for Amarillo Police Department and he later transferred to the city fire department. He took pride in being a city employee for 28 years. He worked for Amarillo National Bank as a second job for many years. He was a faithful servant of God and served as a deacon for Grand Avenue Baptist Church and Forest Hill Missionary Baptist Church. He was a master craftsman at welding horseshoes and other objects into hat racks and rocking chairs. He was an expert gardener and loved to give his produce to friends, neighbors and people in need. He shared equally the responsibilities of family life with his wife of 62 years. Today, we cannot grieve his passing, but rejoice that all is well with him and his Lord. He leaves a legacy of courage, love, hard work and faith to all who knew him. So, no tears but shouts of joy echoing from heaven that another spiritual warrior has entered into everlasting life. A heartfelt thanks from the family to Veterans Hospital and BSA Hospice staff for their devotion to Vinton's well-being.
