Ward, 61, died Wednesday, March 5, 2003. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Van Heckle officiating. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery. Mr. Ward was a veteran of the Air Force. He was employed with General Motors in Oklahoma City for 15 years. Survivors include two sisters, Kay Douglass of Branson, Mo., and Rita Butler of Guymon. Amarillo Globe-News, March 8, 2003 Elsewhere Roy Charles Hamill DEERFIELD, Kan. - Roy Charles Hamill, 69, died Thursday, March 6, 2003, in Guymon, Okla. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Garnard Funeral Home Chapel in Garden City. Burial will be in Deerfield Cemetery. Local arrangements are by Henson-Novak Funeral Directors of Guymon. Mr. Hamill was born July 4, 1933, in Kalvesta. He married Patricia Ann Reedy on Aug. 30, 1997, in Holcomb. Survivors include his wife; five daughters, Debra Hamill of Guymon, Brenda Amen of Lincoln, Neb., Rhonda Penn of Mansfield, Mo., Marsha Hamill of Liberal and Kristi Hamill of Deerfield; two sons, Roy Charles "Chuck" Hamill Jr. of Garden City and Mike Hamill of Carthage, Mo.; three sisters, Ann Paulson and Maude Hamill, both of California, and Cheryl Sullivan of Garden City; five brothers, Rex Hamill of Mountain Home, Ark., Jack Hamill and Sonny Hamill, both of Colorado, and Fritz Hamill and David Hamill, both of Garden City; 17 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. Mrs. Blount was a food service cook. Survivors include her husband, Robert; a son, Josh Blount of Gruver; a daughter, Erica Sinclair of Key West, Fla.; her parents, Joyce and Jack Sparks of Gruver; a sister, Julie Williams of Gruver; a brother, Marvin Sparks of Gruver; a half-brother, Brian Hicks of Amarillo; and two grandchildren. Ecker, 82, of Amarillo died Thursday, March 6, 2003. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Second Baptist Church with Dr. Charles Jones, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 S. Bell St. Mr. Ecker was a Navy veteran of World War II and served in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of Second Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, Tom Ecker of Amarillo; and a sister, Nelda Wright of Rome, Ga. Amarillo Globe-News, March 8, 2003 Billy Mack Wattenburger Billy Mack Wattenburger, 79, of Amarillo died Thursday, March 6, 2003. Services will be at 3 p.m. today in First Baptist Church with Dr. Winfred Moore and Dr. Robert G. Moore, son-in-law and senior pastor of Christ the King Lutheran Church of Houston, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mr. Wattenburger was born in Grayson County. He graduated from Hollis High School in Hollis, Okla. He served in the Army from 1943 to 1946 and trained with the 82nd Airborne Division paratroopers, fighting with the Third Army 87th Infantry Division. At the time of his discharge, he was a sergeant in company C-93rd Chemical Mortar Battalion. As part of his training in the Army, he attended Clemson University for a year. He later attended Amarillo College for two years. From 1953 to 1969, he was employed with many responsibilities and plateaus of supervision in construction of various projects by Missouri Valley Contractors Inc. From 1969 to 1971, he was the mechanical superintendent for Jones Station Unit 1 generating plant for Southwestern Public Service Co. in Lubbock. From 1971 to 1973, he was the project manager for Jones Station Unit 2 for Southwestern Public Service Co. in Lubbock. From 1974 to 1986, he was vice-president and project manager for construction of Tolk Station Units 1 and 2, coal-fired plants for Southwestern Public Service Co. in Muleshoe. He was vice-president and project manager for Harrington Station Units 1, 2 and 3, coal-fired plants for Southwestern Public Service Co. in Amarillo. From 1986 to 1987, he was vice-president and construction manager of Missouri Valley, from 1988 to 1996, he was president and CEO, and he had been chairman of the board since 1996. Mr. Wattenburger had also been president of Duke Electric since 1993. The Panhandle Chapter of Associated General Contractors honored Mr. Wattenburger on May 20, 1997. He received the SIR award. The award is given to those people associated with the construction industry who exemplify the principles of skill, integrity and responsibility. Mr. Wattenburger had served the construction industry in the Panhandle and state for many years as a craftsman and employer. He was past president of Panhandle Chapter of Associated General Contractors in 1991. He had served on the apprentice boards for carpenters, ironworkers and pipefitters, and served as a trustee for Texas Ironworkers Pension and Health Benefit Funds. He was past member of UA Local 196 for steamfitters and plumbers, past member of American Welding Society, and past member of negotiating team with Amarillo Building and Trades and South Central Boilermakers. He had been on carpenters board of trustees, was a member of San Jacinto Lodge No. 1330 and was a Scottish and York Rite Mason, being a charter member in Red Fork, Okla. He was a member of Khiva Shrine and First Baptist Church. He married Marjorie Elizabeth Saunders on May 23, 1946, in Chickasha, Okla. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Abbie Rubner in 2000. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Betty Joy Rubner and husband, Fred J., of Milwaukee, Jessica Scott of Amarillo and Kathy Moore and husband, Robert, of Houston; a son, Jim Tom Wattenburger of Jacksonville, Fla.; a sister, Stella Plummer of Hollis; and eight grandchildren, F.J., Mollie and Amanda Rubner, Ashleigh and Alexis Scott, and Blake, Lydia and Jack Wattenburger. The family suggests memorials be to BSA Hospice and Life Enrichment Center, P.O. Box 950, Amarillo, TX 79176-0001.
