She worked alongside her husband to provide for her family as they struggled to make ends meet on the family farm. Despite their deep love for the White Flat area, in 1953, O.T. and Monie decided to move to Causey, N.M., where they purchased a small farm. It was in the sandy and rocky land, and once again they toiled to make a living. They greatly enjoyed the wonderful community in Causey, including Causey Baptist Church. Mrs. Casey was well-known for her fine cooking, and many a preacher enjoyed the pleasure of putting his feet under her table. In 1973, O.T. died in a tragic farm accident. Mrs. Casey moved off the farm and lived with her daughter Joy until her death. During these years, she enjoyed traveling to see her children and grandchildren. During these special visits, she showered her grandchildren with great love. Angela, Casey, Paul and Gina were surrounded by her love as they treasured all those years with a "Grammy" in the home. Truly her deepest feelings of joy and happiness were the moments she spent with children, rocking them gently while she sang the hymns of her great faith. She will be remembered fondly through coming years because of her unique spirit of love and compassion.
