Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Shamrock Cemetery with the Rev. Don Conner, retired Baptist minister, and Cottie Tarbet officiating. Arrangements are by Wright Funeral Directors. Mrs. Jeter had lived in the Twitty Community for many years. She was a member of Twitty Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, John D. Jeter of St. Martinville, La., and Basail Jeter of Wichita Falls; a daughter, Maurine Hefley of Shamrock; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, March 18, 2003 Max R. Dendy PERRYTON - Max R. Dendy, 70, died Sunday, March 16, 2003, in Amarillo. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First Christian Church with Dr. Jeff Knighton and the Rev. O.K. Bowen officiating. Burial will be in Ochiltree Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. Mr. Dendy was a lifetime resident and farmer in the Perryton area. He was a member of First Christian Church of Perryton. He married his first wife, Christeen Mae Records in 1950 at Clayton, N.M., and she passed away in 1973. He then married Karyn Jean Wright in 1974 at Perryton. He served in the Navy from 1951 to 1955 and was stationed in Bethesda, Md., San Diego and had a tour of Japan. He was a charter member of Elks Lodge and VFW. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Troy and Treva Mary Dendy; his first wife and the mother of his children in 1973; and a son-in-law, Sam Lilly. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Connie Lilly of Perryton, and Mary Lou Batlan and Sally Brackett, both of Austin; a son, Donnie Dendy of Perryton; a brother, Fred Dendy and wife, Linda, of Perryton; a grandson, Jason Lilly of Perryton; four granddaughters, Rayne Lilly of Amarillo, and Rebecca Batlan, Katharine Batlan and Ashley Brackett, all of Austin; and a great-grandson, Tatum Lilly of Perryton. She was a Sherman and Dallam County resident since 1946. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Stratford. She worked in the church nursery for several years. She married Alton Brewster on Dec. 24, 1938, in Portales, N.M. She was preceded in death by her husband on Nov. 17, 1994. He had been a farmer and rancher all of his life. Amarillo Globe-News, March 18, 2003 Amarillo William "Bill" McDonald William "Bill" McDonald, 86, of Amarillo died Monday, March 17, 2003. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St., with the Rev. Jeff Conway of Westminster Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. McDonald was born July 22, 1916, in Hereford. He moved to Amarillo in 1928 and graduated from Amarillo High School in 1934. He then attended the University of Texas. He served in the Navy from Jan. 16, 1942, until Nov. 13, 1945, in the amphibious forces in the European Theater, and made landing in Sicily, Salerno and Anzio. Mr. McDonald married Dorris Kelley in 1967. He was co-owner of McDonald Drilling Co. from 1937 to 1986. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. He was preceded in death by a sister; two brothers; and a grandson. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Debra Mullins and Jo Lynn Wilkinson, both of Amarillo, and Janis Smith of Plano; a son, Kelley Magee of Amarillo; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Bell St. Mr. Sullens was born June 27, 1962, in Dallas. He graduated from Texas Tech University. He worked in broadcasting for his entire career, most recently as general sales manager for KGNC Radio in Amarillo. Mr. Sullens was past president of Amarillo Advertising Federation and volunteered with United Way. He was an avid hockey fan and loved to travel. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Amarillo. Doug enjoyed his friends and influenced a lot of lives along the way. Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Annette and Roger Eggers of Paris; his father and stepmother, Tom and Phyllis Sullens of Garland; a brother, Ken Sullens of Beaverton, Ore.; five stepbrothers; and a stepsister. Amarillo Globe-News, March 18, 2003 Allene Chambers Allene Chambers, 82, of Amarillo died Friday, March 14, 2003. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, Bell Avenue Chapel, 5400 S. Bell St. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Chambers was born in Love County near Marietta, Okla., on May 20, 1920. She was the oldest of eight children born to John and Ruby Lee Williams Nichols. She married Clarence Chambers on Dec. 23, 1942, in Hobart, Okla. A loving woman, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she was a woman of multiple roles. She knew when to be quiet and when to speak. The "master of the one-liner," with her uplifting remarks and quirks, she enlivened every crowd. Everyone who knew her was touched by the kindness of her heart. She knew when to give and what was to be given. Though reserved in her emotions, her unspoken "I love you" was always understood. She was strong-willed and not afraid of adventure, nor the novel. A woman of great patience and understanding, she was blessed with four sons and five daughters, with an extra blessing of 22 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. Loved by everyone and touched by all who knew her, we will miss her greatly - the hardest word is "good bye". She was preceded in death by her father, John Nichols; her mother, Ruby Lee Harris; her stepfather, John Harris; two brothers, Bill Nichols and Elmer Nichols; a sister, Mary Lou Woodward; a grandson, Brian Chambers; and a great-grandson, Brett Tucker. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Mrs. Day was a loving mother and was adored by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She married Pat Day on Jan. 15, 1961. She was preceded in death by her husband on March 26, 1995. Survivors include a daughter, Carole Kennedy of Amarillo; a son, Carleton M. Aska of Fallbrook, Calif.; three stepchildren, Tom Day of Nacogdoches, Jim Day of Houston, Ark., and Joyce Day; many grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
