Memorial services will be at 6 p.m. Friday in St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church with Monsignor Joseph Tash officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Collins was born Sept. 8, 1945, in Cheyenne, Wyo. He graduated from Burkburnett High School in 1964. He was honorably discharged from the Army in 1968. He worked for Royal Architectural Products since 1995 as a regional sales representative. When he wasn't working at the job he loved, he spent his spare time with his children and playing tennis. He was a very proud father of three special children and three wonderful grandchildren. Survivors include two daughters, Ann Jenkins of Cantonment, Fla., and Angela Collins of Amarillo; a son, Anthony Collins of Amarillo; and three grandchildren, Megan Jenkins, Jordan Jenkins and Brandon Jenkins, all of Cantonment. Amarillo Globe-News, March 20, 2003 Martha Lou Workman Williams Martha Lou Workman Williams, 83, of Amarillo died Tuesday, March 18, 2003. Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. today in Polk Street United Methodist Church chapel with Dr. James E. Garrett, senior minister, officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. today in Ochiltree Cemetery in Perryton with the Rev. Greg Kennedy, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Perryton, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Amarillo, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mrs. Williams was born on a farm in Hale County between Kress and Plainview on Dec. 11, 1919. She was the second child of Quince and Eunice Workman. She lived on the farm in the Houston community most of the time she was growing up. She attended Houston School, Kress schools and graduated from Tulia High School. Martha graduated from school in 10 years, as she covered the fourth and fifth grades in one year and there were only 11 grades then. She went to West Texas Teacher's College, now West Texas A&M University, and lived in Randall Hall with her sister, Mary Elizabeth. In college she met Edwin Franklin Williams, and they were married at her parents' farmhouse in Swisher County on Sept. 3, 1939. After their wedding, they returned to Canyon for Eddie's last semester. Martha finished her degree at West Texas during summer sessions. In 1940, they moved to Friona, where Martha taught business education for a year, and fourth grade for two years. They also lived in Dumas from 1943 to 1951 and Dalhart from 1951 to 1955. They moved to Perryton in 1955. While there, Martha commuted to college to get her elementary education certification, and after that taught fourth grade from 1959 until 1979, when she retired. Martha continued to live in Perryton until 1997, when she moved to the Craig Retirement Community, where she lived until her death. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a brother, Bill Workman; and a sister Mary Elizabeth Paine. Survivors include two daughters, Jo Bryan and husband, Gary, of Amarillo and Jan Spence and husband, Wayne, of Denton; two sons, Don Williams and wife, Ruth, and Bob Williams and wife, Karen, all of Amarillo; a brother, Ed Workman of Tulia; her grandchildren, Stacy Bryan of Hoboken, N.J., Mark Bryan of Denver, Pat Spence of Chicago, Cari Spence of Lewisville, Mike Homer of Los Angeles, Ky Williams of Austin, Katrina Stafford of Stinnett, and Reed Williams and Abby Williams, both of Amarillo; and a great-grandson, Zane Stafford of Stinnett. The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity. Amarillo Globe-News, March 20, 2003 Floretta W. Davis Floretta W. Davis, 96, of Amarillo died Monday, March 17, 2003. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Central Church of Christ chapel with J.D. Zink officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mrs. Davis was born April 3, 1906, in Liberty Hill, near Austin. Her parents were Harvey Amos Whitefield and Mary E. Brown Whitefield, both of Jackson County, Tenn. Floretta's first memory was when she stole some gum and ran and hid under the house to chew it. Another early memory was when she was playing in the front yard of their house in town. Her mother had told her not to get out in the road. Floretta remembered this, but decided that it should be all right to play near the road. Floretta remembers her mother coming down the walk with a switch in hand. When she was seven the family moved to the Oklahoma Panhandle, where at first the family lived in a one-room, sod house with a dirt floor. When she was nine, the family moved to New Mexico, traveling by covered wagon. Her father homesteaded there. She graduated from Clayton High School in 1926. She taught school for a year in Tate, N.M. The family then moved to Memphis where Floretta was named the best teletype operator in the state of Texas in 1928. She moved to Amarillo in 1938. She married Earl Davis on Sept. 28, 1941, in Central Church of Christ in Amarillo. Their only child was born in 1944. Earl died in 1947. Floretta worked at the helium plant as a payroll and voucher clerk until she retired in 1969. She never remarried. She was a longtime member of Central Church of Christ. As a mother she was as kind, gentle and caring as anyone could have hoped for. She was a rare, genuine Christian. Survivors include a son, Don D. Davis of Amarillo; a granddaughter, Zoe C. Davis of England; two nieces, Wanda Bosco and Doris Black; two nephews, Lewis Zink of Canon City, Colo., and J.D. Zink of Lubbock; and a stepson, Marshall Davis of El Paso. She married Wayne Francis Keenan on Oct. 26, 1943, in Hillsboro. She was a member of St. Hyacinth's parish. She was preceded in death by her husband on Nov. 11, 1990; and a son, Michael Wayne Keenen on March 18, 1999. Murry Parker, United Methodist minister of Collinwood, Tenn., officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Buchanan was born in Waverly. He moved to Amarillo in 1960 from Waverly. He owned and operated Buchanan Body Shop from 1980 to 1992. He worked as an estimator for State Farm from 1992 to 2003. He was a member of Paramount Terrace Christian Church and Amarillo Chapter of the Harley Owners Group. Survivors include a daughter, Whitney Buchanan of Amarillo; two sons, Monty Buchanan of Coppell and Pfc. Private burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Thomas was born and raised in Amarillo, where she resided all of her life. She graduated from Amarillo High School in 1949 and married L.L. Tommy Thomas on June 22, 1949. They were married 53 years. She was a member of First Christian Church and a member of U&I Sunday School Class. She was formerly employed by Southern Farm Supply and was a teacher at Draughan's Business College for 15 years. She worked at Texas Department of Human Resources for 10 years. She was a member of Texas Aviation Historical Society. She was in charge of the gift shop at English Field Air and Space Museum for three years. She was past president of Amarillo Area Pilot Club and a former member of Amarillo Alzheimer's Association. She was a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. All of her family and friends will miss her very much. Nonnie had a wonderful sense of humor and loved collecting knick-knacks, playing word games and watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Claudia Conger; and a daughter, Darla Ann Thomas in 1957. Survivors include her husband; a brother, Darrel Conger and wife, Linda; two sons, Larry Vaughn Thomas and Michael Lee Thomas and wife, Shasta; a daughter, Judy Lynn Downing; six grandchildren, Hanna Thomas, Crystal Bailey, Dustin Downing, Casey Downing, Devin Thomas and Michel Lee Thomas II; two great-grandchildren, Patrick Bailey Jr. and Quintin Bailey; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
