Burial will be at 3 p.m. in Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas. Mrs. Rigg was born Aug. 12, 1930, in Chicago, and was a resident of Carrollton since 1980. Her passions were her beloved husband of 47 years and her four sons, 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, patriotism, "she wore red, white and blue before it was cool," music and fishing. Born a child of the Depression era, she was determined to rise above her poverty. Her prince arrived in a blue uniform while she was working at W.T. Grant in Hammond, Ind., a regular customer brought her son in to help her shop. It was love at first sight. She often told her boys that she "married adventure," which got its start at historic Langley Field, Va., in 1953. From there it was 30 years of new homes, new places; some exciting and some not, raising four sons in the late 1950s and through the tumultuous 1960s. She made sure her boys would not be overly influenced by the tempting and eroding new culture of that era. She also made it her mission in life to instill in her sons and those around her the honor and pride of those who serve this country. She was a den mother, PTA president, and a volunteer in the American Red Cross. She worked at several Dallas banks in the 1980s and was employed by Houghton-Mifflin.
