Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today in St. Theresa Catholic Church. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the church with the Rev. John Kodankandoph, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in St. Mary's Cemetery in Umbarger by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors. Mrs. Batenhorst was one of 12 children born to Max and Elizabeth Schuele in Humphrey, Neb., on July 10, 1899. She was wed to Henry Batenhorst on Nov. 21, 1923, in Cedar Rapids, Neb. The couple moved to Umbarger where they farmed. Clara served as a midwife for several women while giving birth to nine children of her own. The family lived in Umbarger until 1940, then moved to Wildorado, where they ran a cafe for five years. The couple retired and moved to Vega in 1950. In 1977, their final move was to Panhandle. Clara was an active member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, 55 Plus Club and many other community projects. She was preceded in death by her husband; three sons, Harold, Wilfred and Joe; three brothers; six sisters; and four grandsons. Survivors include four sons, Henry M. Batenhorst of Hereford, Gene Batenhorst of Panhandle, Jim Batenhorst of Wildorado and Gerald Batenhorst of Fritch; two daughters, Margaret Hammer of Panhandle and Bernadette Spurgeon of Amarillo; a brother, Frank Schuele of Columbus, Neb.; a sister, Catherine Batenhorst of Canyon; 28 grandchildren; 67 great-grandchildren; 36 great-great-grandchildren; and two great-great-great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to St. Ann's Nursing Home, P.O. Box 1179, Panhandle, TX 79068. Amarillo Globe-News, April 3, 2003 Lois Virginia Kreger Beuke FRITCH - Lois Virginia Kreger Beuke, 81, died Monday, March 31, 2003, in Amarillo. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Westlawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Calvin Winters, pastor of First Southern Baptist Church of Fritch, officiating. Arrangements are by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors. Mrs. Beuke married Marvin Beuke on Oct. 15, 1938, in Woodward, Okla. They moved to Borger in 1951 and to Fritch in 1968. Her lifelong vocation was the care and nurturing of her family and support of her community. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and a friend to many. She will be missed by all. She was preceded in death by her husband. Survivors include a daughter, Virginia McCalla and husband, Charlie, of Fritch; two sons, Carl Beuke and wife, Becky, of Fritch and Vernon Beuke and wife, Sharon, of Plano; a brother, John Kreger of Carson City, Nev.; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Mr. Leslie was born June 10, 1921, in Carrizozo, N.M., to Jess and Emma Burch Leslie. He was a veteran of the Navy and a cowpuncher to the end. Burial will be in Llano East Cemetery. Mrs. Hall was a lifelong resident of Amarillo. She retired from Auto Auction after more than 20 years of service. Burial will be in Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon by Robertson Funeral Directors. Mr. Wurst was born March 12, 1947, in Pittsburgh, Pa., and had lived in Amarillo most of his life. He was employed for several years by the city of Amarillo. He was a Christian. He was preceded in death by his father, Henry F. Wurst in 1995; a sister, Marjorie Albertena Wurst in 1943; and a brother, Henry Francis Wurst in 1989. Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Tena and Billy M. Powell of Claude; and four brothers, Robert H. Wurst of Gainesville, Thomas E. Sanders of Amarillo, Anthony Lee Wurst of Seattle and James V. Wurst of Houma, La. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mr. Waters was born in Louisville, Ky. He married Janna Raglin in December 1996 at Morrilton, Ark. Mr. Waters was founder and leader of "Gospelheirs" and was an ordained minister. He served with the Army from 1966 to 1967 in Vietnam. He was preceded in death by a brother, Don Waters in 1997; his parents; and a sister, Judy Lane.
