Services will be at 2 p.m. today in United Methodist Church with the Rev. Brent Thornton, pastor of First Christian Church, and the Rev. Tom Stribling, pastor of Hunt Memorial United Methodist Church of Dumas, officiating. Burial will be in Miami Cemetery by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mrs. Underwood served as curator for Roberts County Museum for the past five years. She was a member of First Christian Church. Survivors include her husband, David; a son, Cameron Underwood of Miami; her mother, Ina Lee Seuhs of Miami; and a brother Joe Bill Seuhs of Miami. The family suggests memorials be to Roberts County Museum, P.O. Box 306, Miami, TX 79059; or BSA Hospice, P.O. Box 950, Amarillo, TX 79176. Amarillo Globe-News, April 12, 2003 James Cecil Crum DIMMITT - James Cecil Crum, 79, died Thursday, April 10, 2003. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in the Castro Memorial Gardens with Robert Hawkins, a Methodist Lay Minister, officiating. Arrangements are by Rix Funeral Directors of Hereford. Mr. Crum was born Aug. 5, 1923, in Dimmitt to James Scott and Mattie Crum. He was raised and attended schools in Dimmitt. He was a grandson of Castro County pioneers and married Virginia Luker in 1949 in Amarillo. He joined the Navy in 1942 and was involved in many major battles of the South Pacific in World War II on the USS White Plains. He was awarded the presidential unit citation. After the war he farmed in Castro County until his retirement. He moved to Hereford in 1994 and returned to Dimmitt in August 2002. He was preceded in death by his wife. Survivors include three sons, Gerry Crum and Gail Crum, both of Dimmitt, and Keith Crum of Edmond, Okla.; a sister, Marie Foster of Roswell, N.M.; and six grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Restlawn Cemetery with Richard Lamb, vacancy pastor at Immanuel Lutheran Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Gililland-Watson Funeral Home. Mr. Ziehr was born Dec. 8, 1908, in Cisco. He was a farm equipment mechanic. Survivors include three nieces, Carolyn Riggins of Amarillo, Joan Smith of Kerrville and Martha Lee Rich of Cisco. Gary Smith officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman. Mr. Close was born in Perryton on Oct. 9, 1941. He was a master mechanic. Survivors include his wife, Betty-Glee; two sons, Roger Close of Spearman and Danny Close of Borger; two sisters, Elnora Batson of Stinnett and Anita Harris of Colorado; and four grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to the American Heart Association or Cal Farley Boys Ranch. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Henson-Novak Funeral Directors Chapel with the Rev. Merilee Berry, pastor of Hooker First Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Carter Cemetery. Mrs. Focks was born July 18, 1923, in Guymon. She was a member of Guymon Order of the Eastern Star and First Christian Church. Survivors include a sister, Mildred Lee of Hobart; and many nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity in care of the funeral home. Amarillo Globe-News, April 12, 2003 Elsewhere Vennie Alice Henry Hill BARNEY, Ga. - Vennie Alice Henry Hill, 89, died Thursday, April 10, 2003. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Rocky Mount Zion Church in Barney with the Rev. Dallas Thomas, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in North End Cemetery in Quitman by Stevens-McGhee Funeral Home of Quitman. Mrs. Hill was born Aug. 9, 1913, in Brooks County to the late Joseph Henry and Ida Lee Stroud Henry. She attended schools in Brooks County and lived in this area most of her life. She was loved and cherished by all. She was married to the late Alvin Hill Sr. and to this union three children were born. She joined Rocky Mount Zion A.M.E. at an early age. She was a faithful church member until her demise. She was a loving a dedicated mother. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Hardy Henry and Issac Henry; and a sister, Emma Jane Henry. Survivors include three children, Alberta Hill and Willie Clyde (W.C.) Hill of Barney and Alvin Hill Jr. (Noble Jean) of Amarillo, Texas; a sister, Lula Mae of Valdosta; two sisters-in-law, Ruthie B. Hill and Mildred Manuel; three grandchildren, Alvin Hill III, Chandra Hill and Philbert Hill; five great-grandchildren, Shasta, Alicyn, Shai-Ann, Julien and Bretton, all of Amarillo; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and other relatives and friends. Graveside services were in Rockport Memorial Garden Cemetery by Atkinson Funeral Home of Malvern. Mr. Taylor was born May 30, 1927, in Amarillo. He was a veteran of the Navy during World War II. Survivors include his wife, Rosetta; three sons, Robert L. Taylor of Colorado Springs, Colo., Hal Kennedy of Reno, Nev., and Kelly Don Kennedy of Arkansas; a stepson, Bruce Hamlin of California; two daughters, Cindy Smentowski of Colorado Springs and Candy Morrison of Texas; two stepdaughters, Cindy Blain of Benton and Pat Runnels of Augusta, Ga.; a brother, Jack Taylor of Amarillo; a sister, Betty Dekker of Rhinelander, Wis.; 19 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
