Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Ledford was born in Fannin County. She was office manager for Ledford Dental Labs. She was a member of Tascosa Country Club, where she was Ladies Club Golf Champion in 1993. She was involved in junior golf at Tascosa Country Club and helped start the junior golf program at Lake Tanglewood. She was a past member of Saints and Spinners Square Dance Club, Panhandle Boat & Ski Club, Daughters of the Nile and current member of Yellow Rose Sams as well as Paramount Baptist Church. She married Walter Ledford on April 13, 1956, in Lubbock. They were married 47 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Franklin, and two brothers. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Craig Ledford and wife, Terry, of Amarillo and Jay Ledford and wife, Cindy, of Euless; a brother, Roy Franklin of Slaton; four grandchildren, Jamey Ledford, Brian and Christy Ledford, Justin Ledford and Sara Ledford; and one great-grandchild. Amarillo Globe-News, April 20, 2003 Evelyn Carolyn Britain Evelyn Carolyn Britain, 83, of Amarillo died Thursday, April 17, 2003. Private burial was Friday in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mrs. Britain was born Nov. 23, 1919, in Ramona, Okla. She moved to Amarillo in 1931. She graduated from Amarillo High School and Texas Tech University. She married David Wessling Britain Jr. on Dec. 19, 1941, in Camp Wallace. Fred E. Andrews, 33rd Engineer Battalion Chaplain, officiated at their wedding. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Amarillo for more than 70 years. She had been a very active member of the PEO for more than 50 years. She was also a longtime member of Panhandle Plains Historical Society. She kept the home fires burning while her husband served in World War II and Korea and while her eldest son David served two tours in Vietnam. She was preceded in death by her husband on May 15, 1982. Survivors include three sons, David Wessling Britain III of Chattanooga, Tenn., William Wallace Britain and Mark Stephen Britain, both of Amarillo; three grandchildren, William Lane Britain, Lee Wessling Britain and Nicholas David Britain; and treasured lifelong friend, Helen Hutcheon. Amarillo Globe-News, April 20, 2003 Darrin Wayne Hunt Darrin Wayne Hunt, 29, of Amarillo died Friday, April 18, 2003. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Church of Christ at the Colonies with Dick Marcear, minister, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mr. Hunt was born April 15, 1974, in Lockney to Henry and Sue Hunt. He had lived in Amarillo most of his life. He was an over-the-road truck driver for 11 years before going to work for Texas Sand and Gravel in December. He loved music and people. He was a musician who loved to play his guitar in his spare time. He attended Church of Christ at the Colonies. Survivors include his wife, Erma; his parents of Amarillo; a brother, Henry "Boy" Hunt Jr. of Amarillo; and two sisters, Tonua Mannin and Jackie Tolliet, both of Amarillo. The family suggests memorials be to the Alzheimer's Association. Amarillo Globe-News, April 20, 2003 Lois Clark Nordhausen Lois Clark Nordhausen, 76, of Amarillo died Thursday, April 17, 2003. Services will be at 3 p.m. today in the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship with Carol Stahl officiating. Cremation and arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Nordhausen was born in Fort Collins, Colo. She attended many grade schools in Wyoming and graduated from high school in Louisiana. She interrupted her education to marry Ray in 1945 and to work as a secretary before and after he graduated from Baylor University where she got a bachelor's degree in business education as well. Then she made a wonderful home for her husband and three little girls, Nancy, Gretchen (now deceased) and Edi. Nancy is the mother of Rachel Steffens and the stepmother of Chris and Erica Welch. Edi has two boys, Dustin and Raymond Rubin. She possessed many talents which were reflected in her artwork, decorating, sewing and cooking. She enjoyed volunteering, the arts, and the game of bridge. She was an Amarillo Museum of Art docent, a member of Planned Parenthood, Texas League of Women Voters, Potter/Randall County Democratic Club and P.E.O. Sisterhood, which supports the education of women. Survivors include two daughters, two stepsisters; five cousins; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; three grandchildren and 2 stepgrandchildren. Mrs. Bonner was born in Oklahoma and had been a resident of Amarillo for 73 years. She was a homemaker and member of Tenth Avenue United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe, in 1998. Mrs. Chandler was born July 15, 1921, in Raiford to Rudolph Lee and Thelma Gail Busha Hyatt. She lived in Amarillo for 45 years before moving to Pauls Valley five and a half years ago. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in First Assembly of God with the Rev. Don Heddin, pastor of First Assembly of God Church in Logan, N.M., officiating. Burial will be in Northlawn Memorial Gardens by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mrs. Heddin was born May 7, 1979, in Guymon, Okla. She married Dean Heddin on July 21, 2001, in Canyon. She graduated from Dumas High School in 1998. While in school she was a member of the National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and was team captain of the golf team. She was a prior Dumas resident for most of her life. She moved to Austin two years ago. She was preceded in death by her natural father, George S. McCoy; and her dad, Bob J. McElroy. Survivors include her husband; a son, Miles Dean Heddin of Austin; her mother, Betsy McElroy of Amarillo; a sister, Denise Young of Amarillo; a brother, B.J. Amarillo Globe-News, April 20, 2003 Arthur L. Wehunt DUMAS - Arthur L. Wehunt, 78, died Friday, April 18, 2003. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in First Assembly of God in Dumas with the Rev. Jerry Trammell, pastor of the church, the Rev. H.L. Stevens, retired Assembly of God, and the Rev. Chuck Cook, associate pastor of First Assembly of God, officiating. Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mr. Wehunt was born Dec. 4, 1924, in Kinta, Okla. He served in the Army in World War II in the South Pacific. He served Dumas First Assembly of God Church as secretary/treasurer for 45 years. He also served as a Sunday school teacher, youth leader and an avid Royal Ranger commander. He loved his pastors and he loved his church. He loved people in general and loved being with them. He found good in everyone. He started working for El Paso Natural Gas in 1950 in Eunice, N.M. He moved to the Dumas plant in 1953. He retired from the company in 1986 after working 36 years as warehouse clerk. He married Eula Mae Norvell on Aug. 14, 1950, in Kinta. Survivors include his wife; a son, Weldon Wehunt and wife, Renae, of Dumas; a sister, Evelene Ellington of Weatherford; two grandchildren, Marla Ramirez and husband, Aaron, and Justin Wehunt, all of Dumas; a great-grandchild, Isaiah Ramirez of Dumas; a niece, Barbara Searle and husband, Joe, of Dumas; and many other nieces and nephews. He had been a lifelong resident of White Deer, graduating from White Deer High School where he received the American Farmer degree from FFA. He was a graduate of Texas Tech University. He married Julie Rogers on Feb. 10, 1996, in White Deer. He was a farmer and rancher in White Deer. He was a member of White Deer ISD School Board. He was a member of United Methodist Church of White Deer where he had served on the administrative board.
