Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Mrs. Carter worked for 15 years with Alco Stores. She was a member of the Quilting Guild of Pampa for a number of years. Survivors include her husband, Gardner "Gary"; two daughters, Brenda Shaw of Brownfield and Laura Carter of Chandler; two sisters, Sharlene Beech of Russellville, Ark., and Karen Harrison of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and four grandchildren. Mr. Chase was born July 22, 1921, in Medicine Mound. He came to Pampa in the early 1940s from East Texas. He married Maxcine Cates on May 14, 1973, in Las Vegas. He worked as a superintendent for Wilcox Oil Co. for 25 years, and later founded Chase Oilfield Service in 1964 and Chase Productions in 1971, retiring in 1990. Mr. Chase ranched for 15 years in Ardmore, Okla., from 1978 until 1993. He was a veteran of the Navy serving during World War II. He was a member of Wells Street Church of Christ. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and outdoorsman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lee and Susie Chase; four brothers, Bob Chase, Wally Chase, James "Buddy" Chase and Gerald Chase; two sisters, Louise Sharp and Sue Smith; and a great-granddaughter, Ashley Montoya. Amarillo Globe-News, April 25, 2003 Harvey Barker Milner TULIA - Harvey Barker Milner, 85, formerly of Tulia, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, April 22, 2003. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First United Methodist Church of Tulia with the Rev. Rob Lindley, pastor, and the Rev. Ernie McGaughey, retired Methodist minister, officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery by Wallace Funeral Home. Mr. Milner was born June 24, 1917, the second of three sons born to Orma and Esther Milner of the Center Plains community, west of Kress. He attended grade school in the country school there and then attended high school in Plainview, where he stayed with his grandmother. On June 1, 1941, he married Lucy Smiley, also of the Center Plains community. They made their home there for 10 years. In 1951, they moved to the Tulia area and then in 1967 they moved into town. In 1997, they retired and moved to Amarillo. He was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Tulia and an associate member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Amarillo. In the Tulia church he served on the board of stewards, the finance committee, building committee and was a district trustee. Mr. Milner enjoyed farming and served on various agricultural committees. He also served on the Tulia school board, hospital board and the industrial foundation. He was one of the original owners of Houston Elevator and Tulia Feedlot south of town. He was a leader in bringing natural gas to farm and irrigation wells in this area. He was preceded in death by two sons, Harvey Glenn Milner in 1959; and Larry Dan Milner in 1997; and two brothers. Survivors include his wife; a son, Boyd Milner and wife, Becky, of Lubbock; a daughter-in-law, Linda Milner of Tulia; five grandchildren, Derek Milner and wife, Jennifer, and Doug Milner, all of Tulia, Danielle Williams and husband, Lance, of Panhandle, Lael James and husband, Brad, of Lewisville, and Mandy Milner of Lubbock; and three great-grandchildren, Haley Milner, Kayla Williams and Kilian James. Cole in Altus, Okla., on Aug. 22, 1941. Mr. Cole retired from Phillips Petroleum in 1980. She was preceded in death by her husband on July 26, 2000. Georgia St. Mr. Ruthart graduated from West Texas State University with an accounting degree. He married Cecilia Waters in Canyon on Sept. 28, 1957. He was an agent for the IRS, and was the audit manager for the last 25 years at the Amarillo office, until his retirement. He was chairman of the board for Amarillo Community Federal Credit Union. He also volunteered in the HOST program. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and a Sunday school teacher. He was a beloved husband, dad, brother, granddad and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Nora Ruthart; a sister; and five brothers. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Leslie Whitehurst and husband, Todd, of North Richland Hills; two sons, Gregory Ruthart and wife, Ellen, and Scott Ruthart and wife, Liz, both of Fort Worth; a sister, Pauline Lindley of Fritch; two brothers, Gordon of White Deer and Crawford of Amarillo; and six grandchildren, Zachary Whitehurst, Gabriel Whitehurst, Mallory Whitehurst, Emerson Ruthart, Hannah Ruthart and Max Ruthart. Griggs and Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. Weatherwax was born Aug. 6, 1908, in Denton County. She graduated from high school in Quitaque as valedictorian of her class of 1927. She graduated from Oklahoma College for Women in 1935 and received a master's degree in nutrition from the College of Industrial Arts in Denton. After teaching school for several years, she was home management supervisor for Farm House Administration. During World War II, she taught the electrical phase of the plane to B-17 mechanics at Amarillo Air Force Base. She married Willis N. "Bill" Weatherwax on Nov. 29, 1945. She was preceded in death by her husband on Feb. 12, 1975; her parents, Arthur and Allie Tipps; and seven siblings. Survivors include two brothers, Thomas O. Tipps of Salt Lake City and Robert N. Tipps of Lubbock; 17 nieces and nephews; a host of great-nieces and great-nephews; and special friends, Bart and Mary Beth Sayers of Canyon. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Quarles was born July 6, 1901, in Lanagan, Mo., unto James and Sallie Glass. She had been a resident of Amarillo since 1927. She was a graduate of the San Jacinto School of Beauty of Amarillo and owned and operated beauty shops in Amarillo. She was a lifetime member of Texas Cosmetology Association of Texas and was a retired member of the Bluebonnet Auxiliary and Mothers-in-Law Club. She and her late husband, Mack, were charter members of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Amarillo. She was a sustaining member of the former Byron Gist Sunday School class. She was involved in the children's Sunday school program and Vacation Bible School ministries at Westminster. She had been a resident of Bivins Memorial Nursing Home since 1991. She was a woman who exemplified what faith in Christ meant. Her strong faith was an inspiration to our family, friends and all who knew her. We thank you for your prayers and display of love for us in this time of loss and sorrow. We know that Myrna Mom is with her Lord and Savior now and we know that we will be united with her again someday. She was preceded in death by her husbands, F. Lee Edwards in 1946 and Mack D. Griggs and Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Dyer was born and raised in Anadarko, Okla. He joined the Army after graduating high school. After being discharged he moved to Amarillo. Mr. Dyer was the owner and operator of the Kerr McGee gas station at 34th and Bell Street for more than 30 years. He married Kay Cook in 1991. At the time of his death he was the owner and operator of D.J.'s Burgers at 27th Avenue and Interstate 27, and at Third Avenue and Lamar Street since 1992. He was preceded in death by a son, Brent LaMonte Cook in 1981; and a brother, John Dyer in 2000. He served in the Army for two years and the Air Force for four years. He was a veteran of the Korean War. He married Shirley Anne Temple in 1955. He worked for the city of Amarillo for several years as a heavy equipment operator. He retired from Medley Material Handling in 1978. After his retirement, he served as Santa Claus for more than 15 years at Western Plaza. He married Nancy Doose in 1988 at Reno, Nev.
