Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Rector Funeral Home Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Knightstep was born in Memphis. He lived in Amarillo from 1950 to 1968. During that time, he worked for the Amarillo Globe-News. He then worked for Shell Oil Co. as a cargo inspector. He retired in 1999 at Deer Park. He was most recently living in La Porte. He served four years in the Marines. Survivors include his mother, Pauline Knightstep of Hedley; a daughter, Shirle Haas of Georgetown; two sons, Alan Springer of Baytown and Jamie Knightstep of Seabrook; two sisters, Jeanine Celey and Martha Crawford, both of Amarillo; two brothers, John Ray Knightstep of Whitney and Ronnie Knightstep of Amarillo; and five grandchildren. Henton BOOKER - Sophie S. Henton, 98, died Saturday, May 3, 2003. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Booker Christian Church. Burial will be in Heart Cemetery of Booker by Johnson's Good Samaritan Funeral Service. Mrs. Henton was born April 19, 1905, in Rauchovany, Czechoslovakia, to Anton and Leona Jelinek Slovacek. She came to the United States in April 1909 with her parents. Amarillo Globe-News, May 4, 2003 New Mexico Zella R. Longwell ALAMOGORDO, N.M. - Zella R. Longwell, 88, died Wednesday, April 30, 2003. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Memorial Park Cemetery in Dalhart, Texas. Arrangements are by Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home in Alamogordo. Mrs. Longwell was born Nov. 20, 1914, in Hooker, Okla. Most of her schooling was in Dalhart, where she graduated from high school. She had been a school teacher, mostly in Mount Vernon, Mo., and Aztec. She taught until she was 70 years old. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Aztec. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Longwell in 1980; and a brother, Howard Welch. Survivors include a daughter, Kenalea Johnson and husband, Merrell, of Alamogordo; a son, James William Longwell and wife, Susan, of Sharon, Pa.; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Minnie Lee Bryant and husband, J.W., of Hartley, Texas; and a brother, Raymond Lloyd Welch of Aztec. Villandry, 74, died Friday, May 2, 2003. Burial will be in Pioneer Cemetery. Mr. Villandry was born in Lowell, Mass., on Oct. 18, 1928. He entered the Army in 1945 , and a little more than a year later, he married Betty Jo Davis on July 16, 1946, in Amarillo. Survivors include a son, Ken E. Memorial services will be Monday in Driscoll Boulevard Baptist Church in Spokane. Burial will be in Fairmount Memorial Park in Spokane by Morrison Funeral Directors of Dumas, Texas. Rev. Garrison was born Oct. 17, 1919, in Channing. He was a pastor in churches in the Panhandle and Great Northwest for 58 years. Survivors include his wife, Marge; four children, Annie Matlow and Bekki Sherwood, both of Spokane, Tom Garrison of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Dan Garrison of Miami; a sister, Elizabeth Sullivan of Dumas; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, May 4, 2003 Gloria Patricia Bradley-Hamilton KENNER, La. - Gloria Patricia Bradley-Hamilton, 52, died Friday, March 28, 2003. Services were at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2003, in Richardson Funeral Home of River Ridge with Steve Allen, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Jefferson Memorial Gardens of St. Rose. Local arrangements are by Golden Gate Mortuary, 1416 N. Hughes St. Mrs. Bradley-Hamilton was born May 3, 1951, in Amarillo to Mr. and Mrs. R.B. Bradley. On Friday, March 28, 2003, God sent a heavenly angel to release the suffering and pain, closing a chapter to her life. She was educated in the public schools of Amarillo and graduated from Carver High School. She accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age. After relocating to Kenner she rededicated her life to Christ on Dec. 1, 2002, at New Home Ministry in Laplace under the leadership of Pastor Steve Allen. She celebrated life and lived every moment to the fullest. She had a smile that stole the hearts of many and an infectious laugh that helped others find joy in living. In the business world, she worked at Macy's Department Store in New Orleans and later at Barry's Manufacture in Kenner until her death. Thank you for all of your support and prayers and phone calls. May God bless each of you. She was preceded in death by her mother, Irene Bradley; her brothers, Edward and Robert Bradley; and a sister, Minnie Bradley-Foster. She married Frank Babcock on Dec. 5, 1936, in Pampa. She was a homemaker and member of First United Methodist Church of Groom. She had a kind and gentle heart that went out to those around her. She was a wife, mother, grandmother and the matriarch of a large family which her whole life revolved around. She was preceded in death by her husband. Survivors include two sons, Don Babcock and wife, Caron, of Amarillo, and Ronny Babcock and wife, Dee, of Pampa; two daughters, Joey Brister and husband, Danny, and Tommie Zuerker and husband, Jack, all of Odessa; a sister, Maxine Collins and husband, Gene, of Amarillo; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a beloved niece, Sweetie Costanzi and husband, John; and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews. Mrs. Rauh-Clark was born Sept. 5, 1926, to Marie Wenninger-Rauh and Alvin Adam Rauh in Alva. She was educated at Rural School Pleasant Valley No. 11, Zion Lutheran School, Horace Mann High School and Northwestern State College, all in Alva, Okla. She married Alan G. Clark on March 17, 1946, in Alva. She and Alan moved from Alva to Dallas in 1949 where her husband was employed in the insurance business. They moved to Amarillo in 1963 where they purchased a house. She was a lifetime member of Beta Sigma Phi. She also worked as a docent at the Amarillo Museum of Art and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Amarillo. Survivors include her husband; two brothers, John Rauh of Alva and Russell Rauh of Cherokee, Okla.; a sister-in-law, Frances Raymond of Enid, Okla.; a brother-in-law, McClure Clark of Hobart, Okla.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Private burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Raymond Edward Poindexter was born in De Queen, Ark., on Feb. 24, 1924, to Alice and Levi Poindexter. He served as a Navy fighter pilot during World War II off the carrier USS Antietam. He married Lorey Groth in February 1946. He attended SMU in Dallas. Ray began his career in communications with The Dallas Morning News in 1940 and then the Lubbock Avalanche Journal in 1949. He was the national sales manager for KCBD-TV in 1953 and general sales manager in 1971. He was employed by KAMR in 1974 and became vice president and partner of Cannan Communications in Wichita Falls. He was general manager of KAMR-TV in Amarillo and retired in 1989. He was an active member of Lubbock and Amarillo Advertising Federations and a 17-year member of the Board of Directors of the 10th District American Advertising Federation. He served as Cubmaster, member of the Executive Committee of the United Way, publicity chairman of South Plains Heart Association, president of the American Advertising Federation, BBB Advertising Review Board and a professional member of Alpha Delta Sigma. He received the 1974 ADS "Aid to Advertising Education Award". He was active in Special Olympics, was an inductee of the Texas Tech Hall of Fame, 1988 School of Mass Communications. He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Poindexter, in 1995. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Sherry Hortenstine III and husband, Raleigh, of Dallas and Joan Beaty of Austin; a son, Trent Poindexter and wife, Lee, of Bettendorf, Iowa; grandsons, Blake Hortenstine and wife, Brooke, Lee Hortenstine and wife, Tammy, Raymond "Austin" Poindexter, Brandon Beaty and Parker Beaty; and a great-grandson, Hunter Hortenstine. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 S. Bell St. Mrs. Dines was born Jan. 11, 1918, in Kinsley, Kan., to John Phillip and Mary Cecilia Arnold Keberlein. She married Frederick T. Dines on Sept. 8, 1946. Agnes was the bookkeeper at Westminster Presbyterian Church for many years before retiring. She was the treasurer of the Sara Perkins Circle of Westminster Presbyterian Church for many years. In 1993, Agnes was awarded the "Women of Faith" from Westminster Presbyterian Church. She was very active in the women's part of the Grain Dealers Association. She was preceded in death by her husband on Feb. 14, 1994; her parents; and two brothers. Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Cook and husband, A.G., of Santa Fe, N.M.; a stepdaughter, Virginia Ann Gengenbach of Magnolia; a stepson, Clifford Hale Dines and wife, Nancy, of Amarillo; a sister, Margie Scott of Amarillo; numerous stepgrandchildren; and many stepgreat-grandchildren.
