Utzman, 79, died Monday, May 5, 2003. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors Colonial Chapel with Richard Bartel, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery with military rites by the Army. Mr. Utzman was born March 16, 1924, in Mills County. He married Pattie Poer on May 30, 1947, in Mullin. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Judy Ann Fowler of Portland, Ore., and Susan Deann Stone of Jackson, Mich.; three sons, Raymond F. Utzman of Albuquerque, N.M., Ennis David Utzman of Dallas and William Dewayne Utzman of New Colony; two sisters, Oleta Kesler of Marble Falls and Patsy Lou Runnels of Amarillo; two brothers, Charles Utzman of Austin and Leslie Utzman of Deer Park; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several stepgrandchildren; and many stepgreat-grandchildren. Mrs. Edwards was born April 11, 1927, in Pueblo, Colo. She was a homemaker. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Dumas. She married H.D. Edwards on April 11, 1957, in Clayton, N.M. She was a Dumas resident since 1970. She was preceded in death by her husband on Jan. 1, 1994. Survivors include a son, Bruce Edwards and wife, Tami, of Amarillo; a daughter, Trudy Romo and husband, John A., of Dumas; and five grandchildren, Austin, Noah, John Scott, Brandi and Bree'ann. Amarillo Globe-News, May 6, 2003 Ruby Wigham Harmon PANHANDLE - Ruby Wigham Harmon, 96, died Sunday, May 4, 2003, in Garland. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in First Christian Church with Ted H. Welch Sr., pastor, and the Rev. Leonard Forsythe, pastor of Bible Baptist Church in Borger, officiating. Burial will be in Panhandle Cemetery by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors. Mrs. Harmon was born Nov. 14, 1906, in Wichita Falls, to Mr. and Mrs. G.W. Wigham. She married R.P. Harmon of Panhandle on Aug. 4, 1935. She began teaching piano while still in her teens in Wellington. The family moved to Panhandle in 1916. She began playing piano for her church while she was still in grade school. She retired from teaching piano in 1981. She was a lover of music and poetry. She was preceded in death by her husband; and a grandson, Douglas Harmon. Survivors include a son, Ralph Harmon and wife, Barbara, of Amarillo; a daughter, Georgia Bell Newman and husband, Don, of Garland; a sister, Georgia Bell McFarling of Austin; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Mr. McWhorter was a machinist at Buzz Equipment. He was a member of the Mennonite Church and served in the Army from 1960 to 1978. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in St. Stephen United Methodist Church with Terry Lowe officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Borum was born in Lubbock. He moved to Amarillo in 1962 from Snyder. He worked for Bradley Lincoln-Mercury from 1962 to 1982 as a mechanic. He then worked for Amarillo Independent School District from 1982 until he retired in 2001. He served in the Army and the Marine Corps Reserves. Survivors include his mother, Helen Borum of Amarillo; a daughter, Kelly Diane Borum of Austin; three sons, Gary Lee Hardin, William Wayne Borum and Eric Jerome Borum, all of Amarillo; three sisters, Jimmie Leonard of Houston, Joanne Halbert of Lake Buchanan and Paula Faye Rowan of Oregon; and 11 grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with the Rev. Phil Mercado officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Mathews was the first female born in Glazier on Jan. 3, 1908, the daughter of George and Sarah Ann Chandler Copper. She retired as an operator for Bell Telephone after 24 years and 11 months of service. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Amarillo, Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile, Amarillo Senior Citizens and Telephone Pioneers of America. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry E. Mathews Sr. in 1985; a son, Henry E. Mathews Jr. in 1979; two grandsons, Mark W. Mathews in 1996 and Rickie D. Mathews in 2001; a sister, Ethel Robinson; and three brothers, Manuel Herring, Bob Herring and Raymond Herring. Survivors include a son, Walter "Dee" Mathews of Inola, Okla.; a sister, Rachel Kelly of Canadian; four grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; a special niece, Retha Lee Staggs; and special friends, Gene and Joyce Marshall, Louise Clements and Fern Brown. Werner Sr., 83, of Amarillo died Saturday, May 3, 2003. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Llano Cemetery with Charles Meyer, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mrs. Werner and her twin brother, Bernhard Christianson, were born July 9, 1919, to Inga Danielson Christianson and Chester Christianson at Elderon, Wis. She graduated from Wittenberg High School in 1937. She attended and graduated from RN school at Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Oshkosh, Wis. Her post-graduate work was done at Lying Inn Hospital and Mothers Aide Pavillion in Chicago. She specialized in obstetrical nursing and psychiatric nursing. She married Dr. Jan R. Werner on May 23, 1942, in Milwaukee, and they moved to Amarillo in 1947. She was active in Potter-Randall County Medical Society Auxiliary, Amarillo Symphony Guild and Range Riders Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1978. Survivors include a son, Dr. Jan R. Werner Jr. and wife, Sally, of Amarillo; two daughters, Jana Werner Kidd and husband, Don, and Deanah Werner Alexander and husband, Dennis, all of Amarillo; her twin brother, Bernhard Christianson and wife, Irene, of Elderon; two sisters, Lorraine Little and husband, Hap, of Clinton, Wis., and Evelyn McIntyre of Delevan, Wis.; seven grandchildren, Kelsey Alexander, Olaf Alexaner, Will Werner, Courtnee Kidd and Ashley Kidd, all of Amarillo, Kirsten Werner of Iowa City, Iowa, and Amy Werner of Phoenix; and two great-grandchildren, Bailee Kidd and Lane Kidd, both of Amarillo. Georgia St. On Friday, May 2, 2003, at 10:08 a.m. at St. Anthony's Hospital in Denver, the family of Wesley Herman Larance lost this beloved and oftentimes ornery head of the Larance household. Herman is survived by his ever-loving and beautiful wife of 49 years, Jo. They were married on Feb. 2, 1954, in Stanford. In death, Herman was attended and comforted by his beloved friend and mentor, Orville Fullbright. Herman was kept faithful and uplifted by his loving church family at San Jacinto Assembly of God. His family is grateful for their eternal gifts to him during his life. Herman Larance, 70 years old, fun-loving, grand-hearted and sometimes wonderfully wicked:child, husband, daddy, papa and friend. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Hall was born Sept. 18, 1929, in Gainesville to Harley Davidson and Gladys Barker Hall. He married Wilma Turner in 1955 in Fort Worth. He retired from Barnett Brothers Brokerage Co. He was a member of Bell Avenue Baptist Church and the Gideons. He was a veteran of the Marine Corps where he served in the Korean Theater of Operations earning two Purple Hearts, a Korean service medal with two stars, United Nations ribbon and good conduct medal. He was a deacon and Sunday school teacher at Bell Avenue Baptist Church and a Gideon. He loved his family, church, the Dallas Cowboys and golf. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Johnny Hall and wife, Lisa, and Stanley Hall and wife, Michelle, all of Amarillo; a daughter, Mary Sullivan and husband, Jim, of Kilgore; a brother, Richard Hall of Crowley; a sister, Norma Machen of Crowley; and a sister-in-law, Barbara Hall of Crowley; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to the local Gideons or Bell Avenue Baptist Church library of Amarillo. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Kenton Cemetery by Cimarron Mortuary. Mrs. Kirtley was born Nov. 23, 1921, in Wichita, Kan. She married Jerome Willson Kirtley on May 19, 1941. Survivors include a daughter, Connie Kirtley of Albuquerque; a son, Ed Kirtley of Guymon; a sister, Sally Parker of Boise City; a brother, Dale Palmer of Boise City; and six grandchildren.
