Alexander, 84, died Tuesday, May 6, 2003, in Lubbock. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Memory Gardens Cemetery with the Rev. Mrs. Alexander had been a resident of Pampa since 1950, moving to Lubbock four years ago. She was a member of Central Baptist Church of Pampa. Survivors include a son, Wendell Alexander of Lubbock; two sisters, Cora Adams of Plainview and Geneva Vermillion of Fort Scott, Kan.; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery of Tulia by Brooks Funeral Directors. Mrs. Payne was born July 28, 1929, in Tulia to Elmo and Annie Speer. She married John A. "Tooter" Payne in Clovis, N.M., on March 26, 1946. She was a lifelong resident of Swisher County and was a member of Happy Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1997; and a brother, Donald Ray Speer, in 2003. Survivors include three sons, Larry Payne and wife, Ann, Jimmy Payne and wife, Becky, and Johnny Payne and wife, Becky, all of Amarillo; two daughters, Elizabeth Bizzell and husband, Gail, of Olton and Barbara Shipman and husband, Thomas, of Happy; a brother, Bob Speer and wife, Jodi, of Buffalo, N.Y.; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Avenue Baptist Church of Hereford with the Rev. Jim Bulin, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Palo Duro Cemetery of Wildorado by Brooks Funeral Directors. Mr. Mode was born Nov. 16, 1930, in Cameron to Ollie and Amy Jane McCullough Mode. He married Joann Hickey at Corpus Christi on May 31, 1957. He farmed and ranched in Deaf Smith and Milam Counties and felt privileged to do what he loved. He was a member of Avenue Baptist Church of Hereford. He was a friend to many and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Georjan; his parents; a brother, Marvin Mode; and a sister, Wynelle Bishop. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Clarissa Mode of Hereford; a son, Marvin Mode and wife, Kimberli, of Canyon; three sisters, Lucille Litzman of Temple, Joyce Blake of New Braunfels and Theresa Carter of Boise, Idaho; a brother, Troy Mode of Cameron; and two grandchildren, Spencer and Olivia Mode of Canyon. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 S. Bell St. Mr. Anderwald was born Aug. 1, 1924, to Mark and May Margaret Rapstine Anderwald in White Deer. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He married Ann Rossi on Nov. 27, 1946, at Holy Name Catholic Church in Happy. They celebrated 56 years of marriage. He was a home builder and a fisherman and also liked to dance. He also traveled and lived in many places. He was a loving and precious husband, father and friend to many. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Home Builders Association and a member of American Legion. He was also a previous member of Knights of Columbus. The family would like to acknowledge and thank the wonderful staff of nurses and doctors at Crown of Texas Hospice. Mr. Barclay was born April 24, 1914, in Love County, Okla., to Zetta and William David Barclay. He married Coreene Harris on Nov. 3, 1942, in Silverton. He worked for Fyfe Cement Co. for 20 years. He retired from Groendyke Transport and farmed for Danny Detten for several years. He served with the C.C.C. during World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1985. Amarillo Globe-News, May 8, 2003 Calvin Coolidge Klause Calvin Coolidge Klause, 77, of Amarillo died Monday, May 5, 2003. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with the Rev. Jay Roberson officiating. Entombment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Klause was born June 14, 1925, and was the 11th of 12 children. He was born in the back woods around Barnsdall, Okla. He joined the Army in 1944 and served in the Philippines during World War II. He was assigned to a construction battalion that built airstrips as each island was freed during the Pacific Campaign. He returned home after he completed his military service and married Congetta Jean Ward. He began his work as an industrial asbestos worker with his many brothers. Calvin and Congetta raised three sons together while living the majority of the time in Amarillo. He will always be remembered as not only a good father, granddad and husband but also as a good man. He was always willing to help in any way possible, whether it be physically or financially. He cared more about how we were than about himself. We will miss his smile, his laugh and his conversations. Mostly we will miss our dad. Survivors include three sons, Nick Klause of Blanchard, Okla., Rod Klause of Amarillo and Randy Klause of Helotes; a brother, John Klause of Longview; a sister, Jean Janow of Borger; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Mrs. Dougherty was born Aug. 2, 1907, in Castro County, Texas, to Ira Ricketts and Annie Hughes. After marriage to Archie Dougherty in 1928, they moved to the Frio North Draw, north of Clovis, where they ranched until 1973.
