Services were at 6 p.m. Friday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2820 Virginia Circle, with the Rev. Robert Field officiating. Mrs. Maxey was born June 10, 1930, in Roanoke, Va., to Ernest Lawson and Maggie Price Lawson. She was a homemaker. Survivors include four sons, James Terry Maxey Jr. and Gary Kenton Maxey, both of Bullhead City, Ariz., Steven Clifford Maxey of Tucson, Ariz., and Curtis Alan Maxey of Amarillo; two sisters, Sylvia Lawson of Roanoke and "Red" Folio of Baltimore; a brother, Raymond Lawson of North Carolina; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Mr. Morris was born Jan. 19, 1915, in Clayton. He worked for a number of years for Weiland Oil Co. in Clayton. Survivors include a nephew, Charles Polson of Artesia; and a niece, Gloria A. Polson of Sacramento, Calif. Amarillo Globe-News, May 10, 2003 Elsewhere James Wilson Barnes FORT WORTH - James Wilson Barnes, 73, died Wednesday, May 7, 2003, in Amarillo. Services will be at 4 p.m. today in Laurel Land Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Laurel Land Funeral Home. Mr. Barnes retired as a staff sergeant from the Air Force after 23 years of devoted service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Deannie Wilson and Easter Jordan Barnes; his sister, Catherine Waltz; his wife, Chiyono Soeda Barnes of Japan; and his second wife, Marie Barnes. Survivors include a brother-in-law, G.D. Waltz of Amarillo, and his children, Eddie, Pam, Johnny, Tommy, Judy, Cynthia and Collene; his best friend, Clois Ronald Waltz of Fort Worth; and numerous cousins and loved ones. Burial will be in Stratford Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mrs. Dovel was born June 7, 1906, in Grant County, Okla. She was a Stratford resident since 1921. She married Bernard Earl Dovel on March 31, 1923, in Stratford. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1964; and a son, Leon Eugene Dovel in 1932. Survivors include several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity. Amarillo Globe-News, May 10, 2003 Curtis Monroe Latham VIGO PARK - Curtis Monroe Latham, 80, died Thursday, May 8, 2003. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Vigo Park Baptist Church with the Rev. Kim Broadstreet, grandson-in-law of Mr. Latham, of First Baptist Church of Ponder, officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Tulia by Wallace Funeral Home of Tulia. Mr. Latham was born May 20, 1922, in Farmersville, to Esteen and Jimmie Wilma Latham. He married Vivian Frances Erwin on June 10, 1944, in Clovis, N.M. He later married Neva Priest on Sept. 5, 1993, in Floydada. He moved to Vigo Park in 1931. He graduated From Quitaque High School in 1941. He served in the Army during World War II in Guam in the Pacific Theater. He was a farmer and a member of Vigo Park Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife on June 10, 1987. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Ronnie and wife Jan of Denton, Gene and wife Kathy of Vigo Park and Ted and wife Carla of Lubbock; three stepdaughters, Lindsey Priest of Plainview, Susan Green of Little Rock, Ark., and Connie Erwin of Wahiawa, Hawaii; a stepson, Larry Priest of San Antonio; a brother, Barnie Latham of Tulia; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; and six stepgreat-grandchildren. Mrs. Linville was born Sept. 24, 1958, in Heidelberg, Germany. She was a nurse and a member of Garland Street Church of Christ. Survivors include her husband, Larry; two daughters, Alisha Harris of Carrollton and Krista Harris of Plainview; a son, Dio Harris of Carrollton; a sister, Sherri Sullivan of Spring Hill, Fla.; her mother, Vada Mast of Plainview; her grandparents, Burness Gibbs of Kit Carson, Colo., and Katherine Mast of Brush, Colo.; and a grandson. Amarillo Globe-News, May 10, 2003 Canyon David O. Hunt David O. Hunt, 70, of Canyon died Friday, May 9, 2003, in Amarillo. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. David Lowrie, pastor, and Dr. Strauss Atkinson, pastor emeritus, officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery by Brooks Funeral Directors. Mr. Hunt was born in Haskell County on Sept. 24, 1932, the son of David O. Hunt Sr. and Willie Mae Hunt. He attended school in Rule, where he was an outstanding football player. He graduated from West Texas State College in 1955 with a degree in business administration, and went on the serve with the Army in Korea for two years. Upon his return in 1957, he married Carolyn Honea in Rule. After moving his family to Canyon in 1964, he worked as an accountant for Affiliated Foods, Deaf Smith Feed Yard and Kilgore Children's Psychiatric Hospital. He retired in 1995 from Nunn Electric Supply after serving in many capacities for this company. He was a member of First Baptist Church and several professional organizations. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, George Hunt in 2001. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Michael Hunt and wife Chip of Amarillo and Kyle Hunt and wife LeeAnn, of Chandler, Ariz.; two grandchildren, Joshua Hunt and Allison Hunt; two sisters, Joyce Wooten of Canyon and Tommie Wright of Austin; and several nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials be to Crown of Texas Hospice, 1000 S. Jefferson St., Amarillo, TX 79101.
