Mrs. Swift was born July 26, 1915, to Z.O. and Georgia Branum McKinney in Dodson. She was a lifetime resident of Dodson and graduated from Dodson High School in 1931. She married Ross Swift on Nov. 18, 1933, in Mangum, Okla. She was a homemaker. She was a member of VFW Auxiliary, Order of the Eastern Star and Dodson Civic Club. Wilmagene was a member of the Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1988; a daughter, Jeanette Moore in 1999; and a sister, Aline Dumire in 1986. He retired from Groendyke Transport and farmed for Danny Detten for several years. He served with the C.C.C. during World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1985. He was a veteran of World War II, and served as a sergeant of the 761st Military Police Battalion. Amarillo Globe-News, May 16, 2003 Jack King Hill Jack King Hill, 80, of Amarillo died Tuesday, May 13, 2003. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Memorial Park Cemetery East Mausoleum. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Memorial Park Funeral Home. Mr. Hill was raised in the pioneer community of Cee Vee and resided in Amarillo the majority of his life. He served in the Army Combat Engineers during World War II, and was awarded two bronze stars for service in the European Theatre. Married for 60 years to his childhood sweetheart, Dorothy Elizabeth Barnard Hill, the couple had two children and two grandchildren. Hill was employed for more than 37 years with then Southwestern Public Service Co. A recognized and renowned artist, he achieved acclaim throughout the Southwest for his magnificent bronze statues of Native American leaders. His major works include a bronze bust of Comanche Chief Quanah Parker, commissioned by the State of Oklahoma and placed in the National Hall of Fame for Famous American Indians, and bronze statues of Kiowa Chief Satank, and Apache Chief Geronimo, both of which are displayed in a museum at Fort Sill, Okla. Mr. Hill also crafted the bronze statue of "Texas" founder, Margaret Harper, which graces the entrance to the pioneer amphitheater in Palo Duro Canyon, and he conceived and created the large white buffalo that greets visitors at Kimbrough Stadium in Canyon. Many museums, including the Panhandle Plains Historical Museum and the Kiowa Museum in Carnegie, Okla., exhibit Hill's works and many private collectors have works created by this artist. Mr. Hill also designed the 75th anniversary seal and logo for the city of Amarillo. In 1992, Mr. Hill was officially inducted into the Sandie Hall of Fame for Amarillo High School. A passionate advocate for Native American culture and history, Mr. Hill was a friend and cherished intimate of the descendants of many famous Native Americans including the families of Geronimo, Quanah Parker, and other Comanche and Kiowa warriors. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Dr. Richard Hill and wife, Suzanne, of St. Cloud, Minn., and King Hill and wife, Dianne, of Amarillo; a grandson, Andrew Hill; a granddaughter, Claire Hill; a sister, Arlis Ellis of Amarillo; a brother, Robert Hill and wife, Libbey, of Charlotte, N.C.; a nephew, Ray Hill and wife, Mary Pat, of Dallas; a niece, Jackie McClenny and husband, J. Amarillo Globe-News, May 16, 2003 Harold "Hal" W. Ochsner Harold "Hal" W. Ochsner, 81, of Amarillo died Tuesday, May 13, 2003. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church with Dr. Howard Batson, pastor, officiating. Entombment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery East Mausoleum by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mr. Ochsner was born July 16, 1921, and went to be with the Lord on May 13. He was born to Hugo and Irma Ochsner in Hermann, Mo. In high school he achieved the award of Eagle Scout. He attended the University of Missouri prior to World War II, where he met and married Rosemary Stephens on Valentine's Day 1946 in Denver. Mr. Ochsner was a P-47 fighter pilot with the 80th fighter squadron during World War II in the China-Burma-India Theater, flying over 160 missions and achieving the rank of captain. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. He then went on to graduate from the University of Texas Law School in 1949 and moved to Amarillo to set up his private law practice, retiring in 2003 after 54 years in practice. Mr. Ochsner was an active member of Downtown Lions Club, serving as president in 1973-1974, and district governor during his more than 50 years of membership. In 1961, he proposed and incorporated the Hi Plains Eye Bank. Mr. Ochsner was a member, former president and board member of Amarillo Gun Club. He served on the City Planning and Zoning Board, High Plains Epilepsy Board and the advisory board for the Salvation Army of Amarillo. Mr. Ochsner was active with the Llano Estacado Council of the Boy Scouts, Ducks Unlimited, Quail Unlimited and National Rifle Association and the Amarillo High School Athletic Booster Club. He was a Mason, a Khiva Shriner and a member of First Baptist Church. Mr. Ochsner was an avid and accomplished hunter, fisherman, trapshooter and bowler. He greatly enjoyed the educational and athletic accomplishments of his children and grandchildren. He was the kind of father, grandfather and husband that all men should aspire to be. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Hugo Bernal Ochsner of Jefferson City, Mo., and Lee Donald Ochsner of Lakewood, Colo. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Dr. Beth Bagwell and husband, Paul, and Kristine Creek and husband, Ross, all of Amarillo; two brothers, John H. Burial will be in Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens by Muffley Funeral Home. The Rev. Davis served in the Army for three years, then worked in construction.
