Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in First United Methodist Church of Panhandle with the Rev. Vernon O'Kelly officiating. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery in Borger by Boxwell Brothers at Panhandle. Mr. Jolly was born Dec. 15, 1901, in Panhandle. He was the owner of Jolly Drug Store in Phillips and had worked at the Panhandle Country Club. He was a veteran of World War I and World War II, serving in the Navy. Survivors include a son, Mark Jolly of Amarillo; two daughters, Linda Cranfill of Denton and Carol Smith of Panhandle; six grandchildren, Vance Cranfill, Andrea Stillwell, McKenna Thomason, Spencer Smith, Brynn Jolly and Bryan Jolly; six great-grandchildren, Cal Cranfill, Makena Stillwell, Luke Stillwell, Nicholas Stillwell, Jayden Jolly and Cole Jolly; and several nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials be to Cal Farley's Boys Ranch, 600 W. 11th Ave., Amarillo, TX 79101; or First United Methodist Church at Panhandle. Amarillo Globe-News, May 23, 2003 Lena Bell Shelton May CHILDRESS - Lena Bell Shelton May, 75, died Tuesday, May 20, 2003, in Amarillo. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First Baptist Church chapel with the Rev. Kerry Wood of the church officiating. Special music will be provided by Linda and Maurice Farris, longtime family friends. Burial will be in Childress Cemetery by Johnson Funeral Home. Mrs. May was born Dec. 13, 1927, in Childress. Her parents were Elvan Narcissus and John L. Shelton. She graduated from Childress High School in 1945. She married George W. May on Nov. 29, 1949, in Clovis, N.M. They lived in Childress until moving to Amarillo in 1970. She retired from the Veterans Administration food service department, and had worked for Amarillo Independent School District at Belmar and Summit elementaries in food service. She had also worked as a bookkeeper. She loved reading mysteries, flowers and traveling. She was known to her brothers and sister as "Sissy." She was a Baptist and witnessed to her children on a daily basis through her great sense of humor and gentle caring manner. She lived at home until her final illness. Her children were by her bedside at her death. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2003; her parents; and two brothers, John Henry Shelton and Louis Alvin Shelton. Survivors include a daughter, Vickie Ann May of Amarillo; a son, John C. May of Memphis; a sister, Katherine L. Stamps of Childress; two brothers, Thomas Lee Shelton of Nocona and James Dale Shelton of Amarillo; and a number of nieces. She was owner/operator of Ella Mae's Dress Shop in Borger. She was a seamstress, florist, public servant and Sunday school teacher. Most of all she was a homemaker, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mrs. Burrell was a member of Arden Road Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Brenda Gail Phillips of Birmingham, Ala.; a sister, Elva Dee Gunter of Borger; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was a member of San Jacinto Baptist Church Outreach Program. Ms. Rogers loved to work outdoors in her garden. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Benjamin and Jane Crump in 1944. Survivors include two sons, Don Rogers and Carrol Wayne Rogers, both of Amarillo; a daughter, Betty Gaddis of Amarillo; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Green was born July 2, 1911, in Macedonia, Ill. She married Dr. Marion Green on July 14, 1938, in Denver. Survivors include three sons, Dr. James E. Green and Robert Green, both of Las Cruces, and Dr. William T. Green of San Antonio, Texas; a sister, Roberta Curtis of Benton, Ill.; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Amarillo Globe-News, May 23, 2003 Elsewhere Bonnie Turner Grimland MATTHEWS, N.C. - Bonnie Turner Grimland, 74, died Sunday, May 18, 2003. A service in Amarillo, Texas, will be announced by the family at a later date. Arrangements are by McEwen Funeral Service. Mrs. Grimland was born April 3, 1929, in Flomot, Texas, a daughter of the late Thomas Turner and Estelle Scrivner Turner. She had worked as a dental assistant at the VA Hospitals in Amarillo and Lubbock, Texas, for 30 years. Mrs. Grimland was an active supporter and volunteer with hospice in Texas. She loved to work in her garden, and rearrange and remodel her home. She loved all red and yellow flowers. Red geraniums were her favorite. She had lived in the Charlotte area for the past several years to be close to her children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Roy Grimland in 1983. Survivors include two children, Sandi Kibat and husband, Bob, of Matthews and Tommy Grimland and wife, Cynthia, of Mint Hill; a sister, Thelma Brown of Amarillo; two brothers, Riley Turner of Lubbock and Ben Turner of Incline Village, Nev.; four grandchildren, Jon Perdue, Kristi Dougan, Joshua Grimland and Eli Grimland; and three great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to a hospice of the donor's choice.
